Upon searching the Church records, it was found that no mention was made of it's burial grounds.
However, according to information from past generations , the first burial grounds for this district was started on the homestead of Gottlieb Werner ( S.W. 10-49-22-W4) approximately in 1903. A number of infants were buried there. About 1906, Karl Mittlestadt donated an acre in the southwest corner of his homestead (N.W. 2-49-22-W4) as a cemetery. The bodies which had been buried at the original site were then exhumed and buried at the new site.
 During the year of 1918, the St. Stephen's Lutheran Church was built on a 2 acre site on S.E. 3-49-22-W4. The first funeral service to be held in this church was for Karl Middlestadt who was killed in a wood sawing accident in March of 1919.
 The cemetery was divided into an adult's area and a children's area because of the mortality rate of children being quite high , and , financial funds were few. Many children and adults were buried without proper identification markers.
 In 1954 , an effort was made to have all graves properly marked and a cemetery map made . In 1957 it was decided to level off part of the children's section where the unmarked children were buried , and to erect a large Grave Marker with the names of all 46 unknown children's graves upon it.
 In the 40's, the two congregations of St. Stephen's and St. Lukes decided toenlarge the cemetery and so an additional 1 acre was purchased from the owner , August Rost .
 In 1962 , the two congregations of St. Stephen's and St. Lukes amalgamated . The old St. Lukes Church in Hay Lakes was moved and a new church was built on it's site . The name chosen for this new church was "Our Savior Lutheran Church" of HayLakes. The name of St. Stephen's Cemetery was then also changed and registered as " Our Savior Lutheran Cemetery " of Hay Lakes.
 Soon after improvements were made on the cemetery grounds . The bluff of wild poplar and willows situated in the northwest corner were cleared and the ground broke. Spruce and pine trees were planted in their place. On the west side , a new fence made from steel posts and pipe was erected complete with concrete gate posts , a steel gate and a steel sign .
 The original large cross , which stood in the centre of the cemetery , was made from tamarack by Gottlieb Werner  and was brought from Strawberry Creek and set up in memory of his wife , Fredrika. After serving it's time , it was replaced by a large cross made from fir wood by Henry Zucht which stands there to this day.
 Cemetery caretakers during the past have been August Rost , Edward Tober, Oscar Mallas and at present , Erwin Lachman . The upkeep of the cemetery has been done by the congregation members on a voluntary basis , with 2 work -bees  during the summer.
 A Graveyard Service is held on the cemetery every fall (weather permitting) in memory of loved ones who have passed on.
 In 1979, it was decided to mark all the unmarked graves in the cemetery . This was successful as a result of a $ 2,000 grant given by the Alberta Government towards this project.
 Presently, a board of 5 has been elected to manage business regarding the cemetery. They are as follows: John Groeller,Chairman;Erwin Lachman, Secretary and Caretaker;Bernard Lumpe, Marvin Schultz, Ron Mallas, Directors.
