You wander into a generously lit room, full of books, pretty colored stones, and
decorated with about a zillion flowers. You look
around, bewildered at the lovely setting...Well, at least lovely for a cave!
You're still looking around when a girl, around 15 turns, comes out.
Her hair is a very thick and long dark brown - almost black - and, looking
closly, you think there's some red highlights. She has it back in a light
brown-grey band, but some stubborn wisps keep falling in her face. Her eyes
are also a dark brown, but not quite as much as her hair. They look at you
with a mixture of curiousity, joy, and something not-quite-annoyed, but you don't think
the last two are really directed at you. Her dress, a matching light brown-grey to
the hair band, is too long, dragging on the floor. She smiles at you.
"Hello! I'm Arrilynn..."
"ARRILYNN!!"
Arrilynn turns around and sighs, "And that's my brother,
Dashen...I mean, D'shen....I'M OVER HERE!!"
A boy, also about 15 turns, comes over, he's cradling his left hand,
"Where's the numbweed? I had a dragon roll on me."
"You....WHAT? By Faranth! How do you get careless enough to let a dragon ROLL...of all things....on you?"
"He fell asleep while I was...erm...just kind of sitting with him...And he...Rolled."
Arrilyn sighs in disbelief, but doesn't denounce the possibilty.
While Arrilynn proceeds to wrap her brother's - D'shen's - arm, you examine him,
also. His hair's a lighter brown and also with red highlights. His eyes are
a green color, and they reflect a sort of sheepish amusement. A look that makes you wonder how exactly Dashen managed his now swelling wrist. His shoes and shirt are a dark brown, while his pants are green. He
seems to care more about his looks than Arrilynn does, but then, first
judgements aren't always right. D'shen looks up from his hand and notices you.
He smiles, but it looks forced.
"Another one of your friends, Arrilynn?"
"No, just a visitor, I think. Isn't that great? I'm getting
tired of sitting around here, feeding and washing hatchlings, bothering with tunnelsnakes, trying to convince our weyrwoman we're not at too inconvient a place, dealing with
brothers, and trying to figure out how to reaarange my room to fit a dragonrider's.....Eh, needs... It is kind of fun, and really exciting.. Little breaks are nice, though.
Right, Dashen?" Arrilynn smiles with a mock-sweetness.
"There's nothing wrong with tunnelsnakes and brothers!
I'm having a problem called sisters, though." D'shen completly ignores Arrilynn's hints to show off the hatchlings, seeming to jump at only these two aspects of her talking.
The siblings glare at each other a moment, and you watch them in total
confusion.
"What NUT makes friends with TUNNELSNAKES!?!"
"Its better than having them shun you."
"I'm convinced you're just jealous that I have the
better weyr, with a dragon that actually frigthens those creepy crawling...Things!
"Weyrs? Hatchlings?" you shyly inturrupt the arguing pair, as if just relizing what Arrilynn's been mentioning the whole time,
"Where you two who impressed at Gold Velath's and Bronze Damanth's clutch?"
The two stop arguing and look at you. They both smile, D'shen again sheepish, Arrilynn happily, almost triumphantly.
"Yes, Arrilynn and I were searched for the
Jerdan Weyr
when we were at a picnic.
We were finding images in clouds, when a green rider came up to us."
"I'll NEVER forget it! We were both like, US we're
just a couple of kids. We couldn't! That was when Dashen..."
"D'SHEN!
"It was DASHEN then! Anyways, DASHEN
kind of nudged me
and nodded."
D'shen started to laugh, "I was speechless, Arrilynn was just babbling something, like she just said."
"But we DID impress, and it was GREAT! Dashen...uh, D'shen... was the first, and I...."
You think Arrilynn stops to yell at D'shen and his protests, but she instead jumps up, all excitement in her eyes,
"Hey, I've got a terrific idea! Why don't you come see my weyr!
"No, see mine, Arrilynn will just talk your ear off, and
you'll be lost forever in some sort of void of..."
"DASHEN! You are just SO cruel! I saw our visitor, FIRST!"
Arrilynn stopped, and the two stared at each other and both started
giggling. Arrilynn turned to you, "I'm sorry, would
you like to come to my weyr?"
"Or mine? Of course, we could
always just talk some. Whichever's fine, but
we've both worked really..."
"REALLY hard! And we love to show off our new friends. And the hatchlings LOVE to meet new people. Well, at least Sassith does....We'd understand, though, if you'd rather not," Arrilynn shoots a look at D'shen, who opens his mouth, notices you, and closes it again.
