Michael Schonwandt, 1953 -

Michael Schonwandt Conductor

From 1992 to 1998, Michael Schønwandt held the position of first chair of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra and recently as Music Director with the Royal Opera of Copenhagen.

Schønwandt was born in 1953, and received his formal training with the Royal Academy of Music of London. In 1979, he took the position as head of the Royal Opera of Copenhagen where was noted for establishing the repertory of Mozart Penderecki.
