#2 Bill Sedgewick - Team Captain

In 1996-97 Bill was named the Drillers' Top Defensive Player. He finished fourth on the club with 73 points and led the team with 8-3PG, 57 blocks, 94 fouls, 186 shots and 40 PIM. Bill spent the 1995-96 season with the Chicago Power, playing in all 40 games.

Bill played two seasons with the Portland Pride of the CISL. Has played three seasons in the A-League, two with the Montreal Impact (1997 & 1998) and one with the Colorado Foxes (1996). He was named a Second Team A-Leaugue All-Star in 1997 while playing for Montral. Attended Westminster College in Salt Lake City where he was an academic and scholastic All-American. He also was the captain of his college team.

#4 O'Neil Brown

Position: Defender

O'Neil was invited to the Drillers main camp in 1997-98 after attending the club's free agent camp. He played for the Toronto Shooting Stars durign the 1996-97 season. He was drafted by the Stars in the first round (16th overall) in the 1995 NPSL Amateur Draft after spending three seasons at Durham College in Oshawa, Ont. where he earned All-Canadian honors with the Lords.

1997-98 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS: ·Finished second on the club with 56 blocks. ·Scored his first career goal against Kansas City Feb. 4/98 in his 25th career game. Picked up two assists on January 9th against Baltimore.

#25 Pat Onstad

Position: Goalkeeper

Vancouver, British Columbia

Onstad spent the 1996-97 season with the Drillers. He missed much of the season due to an injury and started only one game.

Pat spent the 1998 outdoor season with the A-League Champion Rochester Raging Rhinos. He was named the A-League's Gaolkeeper of the Year after posting a 22-4 record, a 0.50 GAA and 16 shutouts, an A-League record. Onstad led the A-League in GAA, wins and shutouts and was named to the First Team All-Star team.

Onstad had three shutouts and a record of 11-7 and a 1.07 GAA in 19 games for the Toronto Lynx of the A-League in 1997. He participated in the 1997 A-League All-Star Game. Pat also played for the Montral Impact and the Toronto Rockets of the A-League in 1995.

He began his pro career with the Vancouver 86ers of the Canadian Soccer League where he set a CSL record with 14 shutouts for the 1990 Toronto Blizzard. Pat won a CSL championship with the Winnipeg Fury in 1992.

Pat has earned 13 caps for Canada's National Team. He was a reserve keeper during Canada's World Cup qualifying match against the United States in November of 1997 and remains on the 22-man Canadian roster. He was a three-time CIAU national champion at the University of British Columbia. Pat is an elementary and high school teacher in the off season.

#6 Nikola Vignjevic

Nikola was named as a 1996-97 NPSL All-Star reserve in his first year in the League. He started playing soccer at age 7 for FC Partizon. Nikola then moved on to play for FC Cukaricki of the Yugoslavian first division. Prior to his two seasons with the Crunch his only previous professional experience in North America was with San Jose of the Continental Indoor Soccer League. He saw his first professional outdoor experience in 1997 when he played for the Rochester Raging Rhinos of the A-League.

Nikola spent the 1998 outdoor season with the Toronto Lynx of the A-League, where he scored 9-6-24 in 27 games to lead the team in goals, assists and points.

1997-98 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
·Did not play in a game until January 17 because of an injury.

#20 Carmen D'Onofrio
Position: Forward

Carmen had an outstanding rookie season, leading the Drillers with 112 points. He finished second in NPSL Rookie scoring and was named as an NPSL First Team All-Rookie. He has played for the Canadian Olympic Team and represented Canada in the Pan American Games. D'Onofrio spent the 1996 outdoor season with the Toronto Lynx of the A-League. He attended Stanford University where he graduated with a degree in International Relations.

1997-98 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
·Had an 8-game point-scoring strak from 11/22-1/03, scoring 27 points (8-2PG, 11 A) in the 8 games.
·Scored 7 points (2-2PG, 3 A)in the Drillers final game of the regular season, a 12-11 win over Cincinnati.
·Missed 11 games with an injury

#3 Shayne Campbell
Position: Defender
Height: 5-10
Weight: 165
Born: November 18, 1972 in
Guelph, Ontario

Shayne capped his first season as a professional by being named an NPSL Second Team All-Rookie in 1996-97. "Soupy" finished the season with 21 blocks, sixth on the club. He spent the 1998 outdoor season with the Hampton Roads Mariners of the A-League. He attended the University of Guelph and spent three seasons with the St. Catherines Roma of the CNSL.

1997-98 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
·Finished third on the club with 49 blocks. ·Had an assist in 3 straight games, a 3-point (3PG) game vs. Kansas City on January 24, 1998 and a 4-point (3PG, 1 A) game vs. Baltimore on February 1, 1998.

#19 Chris Clarke
Position: Forward
Height: 5-9

Born: June 4, 1978 in
New Westminster, British Columbia

Chris made his NPSL debut on January 19, 1997 vs. Columbus netting 2-2PG on only two shots. He was hampered by an ankle injury, incurred in training camp, which kept him on the injured reserved list for the first 2½ months of the season.

Clarky spent the 1998 outdoor season, (his third) with the Vancouver 86ers, scoring 5-2-12 in 15 games. Chris participated in the 1997 Canada Summer Games for Team B.C.

1997-98 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
·Led the Drillers with 26-2PG. His 27 total goals ranked third on the club.
·Scored a hat trick (3-2PG) against Wichita on February 7, 1998. Had a 6-point game (2-2PG, 2 A) @ Detroit February 15, 1998.
·Chris led the team with 93 fouls and had at least one foul in 35 of the 40 games that he played.

#7 Martin Dugas
Position: Forward
Height: 6-2
Weight: 180
Born: October 15, 1971 in
St. Catherines, Ontario

In his first year with the Drillers, Martin finished third on the team scoring with 81 points, and second on the club with 28-2PG. He scored 32 goals on only 108 shots. Dugas was named as an NPSL Second Team All-Rookie in the 1996-97 season.

He split the 1998 outdoor season between the Hershey Wildcats and the Toronto Lynx. Martin spent the 1997 A-League season with the Toronto Lynx and also toiled in Europe for three outdoor seasons with the Cambuur Leewwarden. He attended McMaster University, where he was an All-Canadain.

1997-98 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
·Led the Drillers with 89 points on 30 goals and 27 assists for eighty-nine points, a career high.
·Twenty-seven assists tied ofr the club lead. Also led Edmonton with 161 shots-on-goal.

#23 Chris Handsor

Position: Midfielder
Height: 6-1
Weight: 185
Born: January 14, 1972 in
Toronto, Ontario

Chris split the 1996-97 season between the Philadelphia Kixx and the Toronto Shooting Stars. Philadelphia selected him in the expansion draft. Despite only playing in 19 games for the Shooting Stars, Chris finished third in team scoring with 44 points. In 1995-96 Handsor was a member of hte NPSL Champion Cleveland Crunch.

Chris spent the 1996 outdoor season with the USISL Champion Charleston Battery. He attended the University of Akron where he was an All-American as a freshman and All-Conference.

#44 Kevin Holness

Position: Midfielder

In 1996-97 Kevin set an NPSL record for games played in a season with 46 wile splitting the season between the Drillers and the Toronto Shooting Stars. He was acquired on loan from the A-League's Montreal Impact after recording 13 points in 12 games for Toronto. He participated in Team Canada's World Cup Training Camp in 1996.

Kevin spent the 1998 outdoor season with the Toronto Lynx of the A-League where he was named the team MVP. He also spent the 1997 outdoor season with the Lynx. Holness has played professionally with the Winnipeg Fury (1990-93), the Toronto Blizzard (1993) and the Montreal Impact (1994-1997). He has represented Canada as a member of the under-16 and under-19 National Teams and the Canadian Olympic Team. Kevin is on the Canadian Naitonal Team.

1997-98 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
·Played in all 40 games with the Drillers.
·Had a four-game point-scoring streak, from 1/30-2-07, scoring 7 points on 2-2PG and 3 A. Closed out the season with 7 points in his final two games (2-2PG, 3 A).

#11 Domenic Mobilio

Born: January 14, 1969

Domenic scored the Drillers' game winnng goal vs. Detroit on March 28, 1997 to secure a playoff spot for the team in their first season in Edmonton. He was acquired from the Harrisburg Heat on February 24, 1997. In 13 games with the Drillers Mobilio scored 26 points. In 1995-96 he led the NPSL with 15 power play goals while playing for the Harrisburg Heat and set a Harrisburg team record with 62 goals (3PG, 40-2PG, 21-1PG).

Domenic spent the 1998 outdoor season with the Vancouver 86ers of the A-League. In 1997 Mobilio led the 86ers in scoring. He has been witht eh 86ers for the pst 12 outdoor seasons. Mobilio spent four seasons with the Baltimore Blast, from 1988-92. He has 26 caps as a member of the Canadian National Team. Mobilio has played professionally in the A-League, the CSL, the MISL and the NPSL.

1997-98 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
·Fisished second on the club with 74 points despite playing in only 26 games. Missed 11 games due to an injury to his left knee (MCL) and two games while playing with the Canadian National Team.
·Was named the National Conference All-Star squad for the NPSL All-Star game in Cincinnati.

#12 Martin Nash

Position: Midfielder

Nash played with the Vancouver 86ers of the A-League for three seasons, from 1994-96 and with the Stockport County Football Club for two seasons (1996-97 & 1997-98). He notched his first goal for Stockport County in a 1-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor. It was his only goal of the 1996-97 season (5 games). He appeared in seven games with Stockport County in 1997-98. Martin was a First Team All-Star with Vancouver in 1996.

He lists representing Canada in World Cup qualifying in 1997-98 as his best moment in soccer. Nash has eight caps with Canada's National Team. He has also appeared in several games for Canada's Under-20 team in 1994-95.

#13 Todd Rattee

Todd finished second on the club with 52 blocks in the 1996-97 season. In 1995-96 he was an NPSL Second Team All-Rookie while with the Milwaukee Wave.

Todd has spent four outdoor seasons with the Vancouver 86ers of the A-League, where he was seleted to the A-League's All-Rookie Team in his first season. The Drillers acquired him in October of 1996 in a trade with the Milwaukee Wave. He attended Simon Fraser University, earning a degree in geography. Rattee earned All-Conference and All-American honours wile at SFU.

1997-98 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
·Finished fourth in the balloting for the NPSL Defender of the Year and was named an NPSL Third Team All-Star.
·Finished fifth in the NPSL with 73 blocks, a career high. His 33 points (3-3PG, 7-2PG, 10 A) were also a career high.
·Represented the Drillers at the 1998 All-Star game.
·Suffered a season-ending ankle injury in the last game of the regular season against Cincinnati.

#1 Paul Shepherd

Paul has played four outdoor seasons with teh Vancouver 86ers from 1994-97 and one season, 1997, with the Montreal Impact of the A-League. Had 8 wins and a 1.09 GAA in 14 games with Vancouver in 1997. Was 12-7 with a 1.11 GAA in 19 games with Montreal in 1998. Also spent one season with Dundee United. Was a member of Team Canada in Olympic Games qualifying contests.

1997-98 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
·Started his only game of the season, 3/29 vs. Cincinnati, picking up the whin while allowing 11 points (1-3PG, 4-2PG) on 15 shots in a 12-11 Drillers victory.
·Was selected to the NPSL's Second Team All-Rookie squad.

#10 Sipho Sibiya

Position: Midfielder/Forwar

Weight: 175
Born: July 28, 1971 in
Pretoria, South Africa

In 1996-97 Sipho finished fifth on the club with 70 points and led the team with 8 power play goals.

Sipho spent four seasons with the Vancouver 86ers of the A-Leauge before spending the 1998 season with the Montreal Impact. He scored 3-3-9 in 19 games with the Impact this season. He was selected as Vancouver's top rookie in 1994. Sibiya studied at Seattle Pacific University and Skagit Valley College.

1997-98 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
·Tied for the club lead with 27 assists
·Played in all 40 games for the second consecutive season. Sipho and Dugas are the only players to appear in all 80 games in Drillers history.
·On 12/19 vs. Buffalo he had a hat-trick (3PG, 2PG, 1PG), scoring 6 points in total. Sibiya scored twice (2-2PG) on a personal season-high 9 shots on 3/01 vs. St. Louis

#16 Angelo Sestito

Position: Defender/Midfielder

Born: June 26, 1973

This is Angelo's first season with the Drillers. He had been a member of the Edmonton Ital-Canadians for the past nine years and was named one of three tournament MVP's at the 1994 Canadian Senior Men's Championship, which the Ital-Canadians won. In 1990, Sestito was a member of the Alberta Under 17 Provincial team and in 1995 played for the Alberta Under 23 team at the Western Canada Games. Collegiately, Angelo played two years at Grant MacEwan College, one season at Eastern Illinois and two years at the University of Alberta. In 1996, Angelo was named a CIAU West All-Star at the CIAU finals in 1995.

Angelo is currently attending the University of Alberta where he is in the process of completing his education degree.

#15 Ian Diaz

This is Ian's first year with the Drillers organization. He played with Concordia College for two years before spending one year with the University of Alberta Golden Bears Soccer Club.

Ian is a graduate from McNally High School in Edmonton in 1994 and is presently attending the University of Alberta.

#8 Alfredo Valente

Position: Midfielder

Born: November 6, 1980 in

This is Alfredo's rookie year with the Drillers. He spent the 1998 outdoor season with the Vancouver 86ers of the A-League and was named 86er Rookie of the Year, scorign 4-4-12 in 15 games.

Alfredo graduated from Alpha Secondary School in Burnaby, British Columbia this past year and resides in Burnaby in the off-season.

#14 Paul Dailly

Position: Midfielder
Height: 5-9
Weight: 165
Born: July 26, 1971 in
Dundee, Scotland
Shoots: Right

In 1996-97 Dailly finished fourth on the Wings with 83 points. He was thrid in 2PG with 25 and added 6-PPG. His 122 shots ranked fourth on the club. 1995-96: Paul was the runner-up for the NPSL Rookie of the Year Award.

Paul spent the 1998 outdoor season with the Vancouver 86ers where he scored 5-5-15 in 23 games. He joined the 86ers in 1995 from the North Shore Pegasus and won the 86ers "Player of the Year" award after finishing fifth in the A-League scoring with 21 points (7 goals, 7 assists). In 1997 Paul finished the season with 1 goal and 3 assists.
