I praise and thank God who has given me this opportunity to share my testimony through this Reapers Magazine. My faith was born in a Hindu family and my mother in a Christian family. Even though my father was a Hindu due to family circumstances he agreed for the Christian marriage. I have a younger sister of 16 years old and a younger brother of 4 years. We use to go to both the Hindu temple and Christian church. Because I was the eldest child, my father taught me the Hindu mythologies and sends me to the Hindu temple worships.
After completing S.S.L.C. while I was doing my Nursing course, I use to attend Christian meetings. Whenever they use to give a call to raise hands for those who would like to receive Salvation, several times I had raised my hands. But I did not know what is the truth about salvation. Not a single Bible verse stayed in my mind. In 1985, August 29th I got married. The same year December 29th I came to Kuwait in a domestic Visa. My husband also had domestic Visa but without any job. In those days Visa could not be transferred except for ministry jobs. According to Kuwait rules in those days we could not go out together. For about Two and half years we were here without job but only our debts increased. We were worried and thought of going back to India.
Suddenly, through someone whom we do not know before, help came to us. I got appointment in Ministry of Health, Amiri Hospital in 1988 march. In 1989, my husband also got a job in Kuwait Institute of Scientific Research.
In 1990, August due to Iraq invasion, we had to go back to India with 6 months old child having no money and with a great loss. The Lord who has seen our tears, with His grace enabled me to come back to Kuwait on 8th of October 1991. After coming back, for about a month I did not go to any church. Then upon my request one sister brought me to our Tamil Fullgospel Prayer Fellowship. I was in maternity Hostel and public transportation was very difficult at that time. I use to come in Taxi by 4.30 p.m. itself to church. On the first day of my coming to church, Pastor .Shunmugam started preaching. He said, he had prepared to speak about the Salvation but spirit of god wanted him to speak on some other subject.
In the message from beginning to end I was weeping because, I felt as if every word was spoken for me. Then, I wanted to know more about Salvation. After listening about the true salvation, I was waiting for my husband’s approval so that I can start living according to the word of God. I use to attend Tamil, Malayalam and English worship meetings. In those days there was no announcement made for Baptism. in our church. After knowing the word of god correctly, I never use to attend any other worship services except Pentecostal church meetings.
In 1992 August, my husband also came to Kuwait in visit visa. Because I removed all my Jewels except the ‘Thali’ my husband was very much annoyed on me, "go any where but do not call me". My husband was born in a staunch Hindu family. His father was practicing witchcraft. My husband had bad habits like drinking liquor, eating beattle leave etc., and a short-tempered man. Because he never listen to anything from me. I did not have the courage to tell him any thing. One week, when he came to our church, Pastor.Shunmugam spoke about the bad habits that a believer should forsake. While returning to Abbasiya back from church, he argued with Pastor about forsaking jewels and many other matters from the Bible. The next day we went to ‘Church of God’ meeting on Tuesday. There also the same words were spoken. So my husband said, yesterday and today God spoke for me only. Being pierced in his heart, he threw away the beattle leaves he had in the dustbin.
Subsequently, the changes that I saw in his life like regularly reading the Bible, praying has surprised me very much. Further, after hearing the Word of God, we decided to take Baptism. On 30th October 1992 the Lord enabled both of us to fulfill the righteousness of God.
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" – John 8:32.
According to this verse, the Lord enabled in to come out of darkness into his marvelous light. "That was the true light, which lighteth everyman that cometh into the world" – John 1:8. I want to praise God who has been leading us in His ways so far without being consumed. After coming into the salvation experience, the Lord also has wrought many miracles in my life. He has revealed many things that happened in the past and many things that will take place in furture through dreams. Thus the Lord enabled my faith to grow. Every thing has taken place exactly as it was revealed.
The Lord also blessed us with two precious female children, Sharon on 6th March 1990 and Sarah on 27th March 1995. The Lord helped my husband to take part in some of the Church ministries from 1992 to 1998 July and to live a life of testimony. In 1998 July, my husband and children have returned back to India and now are involved in Gods ministry in the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church. The Lord who called us in faithful. He will lead us and protect us till the end.
The Lord who promised " Be not afraid nor you be dismayed, I will strengthen you and help you. I shall uphold you by my right hand of righteousness" had been faithful to us on His promises and is leading us so far. May all the glory, honour and praise be unto Him alone.
