I think that when you love a person - you would go to the ends of the earth just to make them smile. You would drive for hours on end just to see that smile. I think love is also when everything you see somehow reminds you of them. The simplest thing. Your mind always somehow wanders back to them. You hope that everything is turning out alright for them. You want them to be happy no matter what. You want to celebrate all their successes with them and you want to mourn with them when they grieve. You admire their strengths and their weaknesses. You will always be their shoulder to cry on and vice versa. You just want to go have fun with them- you could do something very "boring" - but with them - it would be so awesome and amazing. You think the world of them. You want to protect them at all costs. You would do anything for them. When you just ache b/c you just want to hear their laugh and laugh with them. That you just wish they could know that your love is unconditional. You value their advice and you just wish you could do anything to let them know you care. You want to hear all of their dreams - and when you share your dreams with them - you know that they will listen and never laugh or think they're out of reach. You just want to hold them and be held by them. When you treasure not just their mind but also their spirit. When you just wish you could stop time just to be with them for one minute longer. When you love the way they make you feel. When you stay up all night thinking about them. When you want to know every single little detail about their life- their whole life story. When they want to know your whole life story. When you have so much faith in them - that it makes you a stronger person. When you just wish that you could be just a littler nearer to them- even if just by a few inches. You trust them with everything you have. When you support them with everything you have. When every sappy song you hear - you can relate it to them somehow. When your prayers always involve them. When you wish that you could have known them your whole life - you wish you could have seen their childhood firsthand - when you wish you'd just been part of their life - just that much more. when they love the way you laugh and they'll do anything to just hear it. When you praise God for them - I think that's when it's real. When you're constantly thinking about what they're doing, how they're doing, are they smiling, are they crying - are they happy - are they thinking of you - Do they want to give you a hug right now? Are they praying for you? At this very moment do they want to be with me like I want to be with them? Do they miss me? Are they as thankful for me as I am them? Do they want to hold my hand? When they think of you - are they smiling? And then - when you would willingly lay your life down for them - and just for their mere happiness.
I think that's what love is.
