Lung Failure

Mandy was a "special needs child". She was "fairly healthy" the first 6 years of her life and then the physical problems began. A lot of hospital stays and a lot of pneumonia. She had many surgeries, ear tubes, feeding tube, back surgery, fundoplication, tracheostomy. The last couple of years of her life, she was "in" the hospital more that she was "out". It finally got to where she was totally dependent on a C-pap and unable to breath without it. We were forced to make the decision that no parent wants to make...to take off the C-pap and let "Gods will be done"...11 days later, He took her to heaven. Here is the poem that we had printed on her memorial handout at the funeral.

HEAVENS VERY SPECIAL CHILD

A meeting was held quite far from earth.
Its time again for another birth.
Said the angel to the Lord above,
"This special child will need much love.
Her progress may be slow,
Accomplishments she may not show,
And she'll require extra care
From the folks she meets down there.
She may not run or laugh or play,
Her thoughts may seem far away.
In many ways she won't adapt,
And she'll be known as handicapped.
So let's be careful where she's sent,
We want her life to be content.
Please Lord, find the right people who
Will do this special chore for you"
The will not realize right away
The leading role they're asked to play.
but with this child sent from above
Comes stronger failth and richer love.
And soon they'll know the privilege given
In caring for their gift from heaven.
Their precious charge, so meek and mild
Is Heaven's Very Special Child!

I Love You Mandy,
and I Miss you so Very, Very Much!!

Love, Mom
