POEMS
WHY DO I EVEN TRY
Alone I sit
With these thoughts in my head;
A feeling comes over me,
A sensation of dread.
How can I stop it,
How can I move on?
These thoughts I feel,
Have not been here long.
I'm so confused,
I'm so hurt.
I just wish I could bury
These emotions in dirt.
As the days go on
And we continue to converse
These feelings continue
To get worse and worse.
I try to hide it;
Pretend it doesn’t exist.
But you’re too clever,
You know I can’t resist.
There’s not much I can do
I’ve learnt that there’s no escaping you.
Your smile so bright, your punch so strong;
The way you wear those white pants over your thong.
I guess I’ll take it day by day
And try to see you in a different light;
But every time I see you
It’s my tongue I’ll have to bite...
WHAT CAN I DO
Seeing you again is something I can’t describe;
Emotions run rampant, these feelings I just can’t hide.
When I first spot you, I know I’m in for a treat;
Though getting through to you is often a tough feat.
Your lips tuck in ever so slightly,
Your eyes widen, sparkling ever so brightly.
With your eyes to the left, head to the right,
The look you give me draws me in so tight.
What can I do, how can I explain;
These sensations I feel, are all in vain.
For I was mistaken, now you’re taken;
And I'm here all alone, with no one to share my throne.
I try to erase you, I try to forget the softness of your skin;
But every time I see a picture, it brings you back again.
Frustrations surround me, each and every day,
I still want to be yours, and only you will I obey.
One more chance is all I need
To win you over; guaranteed.
I know you’re happy now, and that’s great,
But since when do you settle for only an eight?
I want you to know how much you mean
Even if you remain someone else’s queen.
But all this is so much to say,
So let’s talk about this more someday...

Say what you want,
Say what you mean,
Question yourself...
are you really what you Seem,
Say what you want,
Say what you mean,
Question yourself...
are you really what you Dream...
NEVER BEEN SO CONFUSED
Not sure what to do
Can't stop thinking about you
It's been a year since we parted
And it seems as if these feelings are just getting started
Though we've gone our separate ways
Never shall we be lost in the haze
Not a moments gone by, when I haven't wanted to cry
It's the feelings I miss, the incredible bliss
The touch of your hand, soft as powdery sand
The look in your eyes that makes me realize
How lucky I am to have you a my gem
Confusion sinks in
Heart racing fast
Not sure how long this will last
Memories flash in my eyes
Who I am kissing is never a surprise
Physically one, emotionally another
What is this feeling, why is it not over?
I ask my self this time after time
What did I do, was it such a crime?
The one that never hurt me, the one that was truly real
Is the one I can't live without, the one I need to heal
What a big mistake, to break away and flake
The distance was tough, but nothing is as rough
As living alone, like a cold chipping stone
How am I suppsosed to feel?
Is all this real?
I'm still in love, we fit like a glove
But what's gonna happen is most likely a slappin'
Cuz she's moved on and I'm gone
If that's the case I'll settle for second place
For friends is more than I could ever ask for;
That would warm me completely, right down to my core
You are someone that I will always adore...

We can't play this game anymore
But can we still be friends?
Things just can't go on like before
But can we still be friends?
We had something to learn
Now it's time for the wheel to turn
Grains of sand, one by one
And before you know it, it's all gone
Let's admit we made a mistake
But can we still be friends?
Heartbreak's never easy to take
But can we still be friends?
It's a strange, sad affair
Sometimes it seems like we just don't care
But don't waste time feeling hurt
We've been through hell together
Can we still get together sometime?
You know life will still go on and on and on
We awoke from our dream
Things are not always what they seem
Memories linger on
It's like a sweet, sad old song
I HAVE NEVER . . .
I have never
Loved someone
As much as I love you
And you love me
I have never
Felt so content
When I am in your arms
And life becomes peaceful
I have never
Felt so alone
When you are not with me
Because a sea divides us
I have never
Been inspired by someone
As much as you inspire me
To try new things
I have never
Been connected with anyone
As well as I connect with you
And you connect with me
I have never
Felt as comfortable around someone
As I am with you
In many ways
I have never
Been so happy on a bad day
Because you always cheer me up
And make me smile
I have never
Felt such a passion
As when my lips touch yours
And yours touch mine
I have never
Appreciated someone
As much as I appreciate you
And you appreciate me
I have never
Felt so happy
To be with someone
Just like you
CONFUSION
My knees start to shake,
When you're in sight,
My mind filled with wonder,
My heart filled with fright
When will this feeling stop?
When did it start?
How can I listen to my mind,
Without breaking my heart?
I'm so confused,
What should I do?
I can't think of anything,
Except for you.
Should I ignore you?
Or just give it time?
I can't think straight,
My heart controls my mind.
I MAY HAVE NEVER TOLD YOU...
I may have never told you
But I hope you've always known
And I'll do everything that I can so that it is shown
You are like an angel sent from heaven above
Someone I've needed, and have prayed for
A person to you always just makes it disappear
A friend like you I wouldn't have ever of expected
Like all of my new friends that I've collected.
You are an angel beyond any of my doubts
True friend, someone I couldn't do without.
NATURAL HIGHS
Falling in love
Laughing so hard your face hurts
Hugging the old friends you haven't seen in a while
Spending the day with someone you love
A special glance
Falling asleep in the sun on a cool day
Going out on a Saturday night, coming home sober and
having had a great time
Listening to loud music
Lying in bed listening to the rain outside
A long distance phone call
A really good hug from a close friend when you need it
Getting invited to a dance
Giggling
Whitewater rafting
Rollercoasters
Spring Break
Hearing something that reminds you of someone you love
Watching a beautiful sunrise or sunset
Knowing someone really does understand
A surprise visit from a friend
A special laugh
Laughing at yourself
Saying "I love you"
Hearing someone say "I love you" to you and really mean it
Midnight pone calls that last for hours
Crying in the rain
Hearing from your closest friend just because they needed to hear your voice
Knowing that some very special people think that you're special too
Feeling special just because no one else is like you
Knowing you're important in someone else's life
Knowing that you can make people smile or laugh
The feeling that you are appreciated just for being yourself
Succeeding as a team and knowing that you did it together
Knowing that God is there in every situation, every moment in your life you can rely on Him
The silence of a cold winter night with twinkling stars in the sky above
A friend that knows just what to say and when to say it
Being able to be crazy with your friends and knowing they're just as crazy as you are
Gazing up at the stars in the middle of the night with the one you love
Feeling cozy and warm in your bed when it's really cold
Remembering the times you couldn't possibly do it...and you did
MY FRIEND
If you only knew how I felt that day...
The day you said you'd be my friend forever.
I felt the feeling of happiness,
My heart flew...flew so high.
Until that day you broke your promise,
The promise of our friendship.
You said you'd always be there for me...
You lied
You always made promises to me...
You broke them
Now all I have is this hole in my heart.
If you only knew how I felt.
If you could only know now how I feel.
If you could only realize the pain you caused,
And now I sit here writing this poem...
This poem of sadness.
All because of the friend in you...
The friend I lost.
HE IS JUST A LITTLE BOY
He stands at the plate
With his heart pounding fast.
The bases are loaded,
The die has been cast.
Mom and Dad cannot help him,
He stands all alone.
A hit at this moment,
Wold send the team home.
The ball meets the plate,
He swings and he misses.
There's a groan from the crown,
With some boos and some hisses.
A thoughtless voice cries,
"Strike out the bum."
Tears fill his eyes,
The game's no longer fun.
So open your heart and give him a break,
For its moments like this,
A man you can make.
Please keep this in mind,
When you hear someone forget,
He is just a little boy, and not a man yet.
SLOW DANCE
Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round
Or listened to the rain
Lapping on the ground?
Ever follow a butterfly's erratic flight
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last.
Do you run through each day on the fly?
When you ask "How old are you?"
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done,
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last.
Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
'Cause you never had time
To call and say "Hi"?
You'd better slow it down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift...
Thrown away...
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.
THE ABC's OF FRIENDSHIP
A Friend . . .
Accepts you as you are
Believes in "you"
Calls you just to say "hi"
Doesn't give up on you
Envisions the whole of you (even the unfinished parts
Forgives your mistakes
Gives unconditionally
Helps you
Invites you over
Just because
Keeps you close at heart
Loves you for who you are
Makes a difference in your life
Never judges
Offers support
Picks you up
Quiets your fears
Raises your spirits
Says nice things about you
Tells you the truth when you need to hear it
Understands you
Values you
Walks beside you
Xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
Yells when you won't listen
Zaps you back into reality
STARLIT NIGHT
The night is bright,
With a starlit sky,
I sit and think,
As time passes by,
Oh starry night,
With a moonlit sky,
Take me away,
And tell me why,
Give me a reason,
For why I lost a friend,
I sit and think,
All night long,
About the things,
That all went wrong,
Starlit night,
Give me a reason why
HER . . .
Her eyes, are like crystal blue streams,
Her hair, is a golden color, only seen in my dreams,
Her skin, is as soft and smooth as silk,
And looks as creamy as fresh, cold milk.
When I look at her,
And hear he voice,
My heart beats faster,
It has no choice.
My stomach flutters endlessly,
I only wish,
That she could see,
How much her love,
Means to me.
DID YOU EVER . . .
Did you ever love someone and know they didn't care
Did you ever feel like crying but knew you'd get nowhere?
Did you ever close your eyes and say a little prayer
Did you ever look into their hearts and wish that you were there?
Did you ever watch them walk away not wanting to let them go, and whisper "God, I love you" but never tell them so?
You'd cry all night in misery and almost go insane,
There's nothing in this world that would cause you so much pain.
I say don't fall in love, you'll get hurt before it's through,
You see I ought to know because I fell in love with you.
SOMEBODY . . .
Right now . . .
Somebody is very proud of you
Somebody is thinking of you
Somebody is caring about you
Somebody misses you
Somebody wants to talk to you
Somebody wants to be with you
Somebody hopes you aren't in trouble
Somebody is thankful for the support you have provided
Somebody wants to hold your hand
Somebody wants you to be happy
Somebody hopes everything turns out all right
Somebody wants you to find him
Somebody is celebrating your success
Somebody wants to give you a gift
Somebody thinks that you ARE a gift
Somebody hopes you are not too cold, or too hot
Somebody wants to hug you
Somebody loves you
Somebody admires your strength
Somebody is thinking of you and smiling
Somebody wants to be your shoulder to cry on
Somebody wants to go out with you and have a lot of fun
Somebody thinks the world of you
Somebody wants to protect you
Somebody would do anything for you
Somebody wants to be forgiven
Somebody is grateful for your forgiveness
Somebody wants to laugh with you
Somebody remembers you and wishes that you were there
Somebody is praising God for you
Somebody needs to know that your love is unconditional
Somebody values your advice
Somebody wants to tell you hwo much they care
Somebody wants to share their dreams with you
Somebody wants to hold you in their arms
Somebody wants YOU to hold them in your amrs
Somebody treasures your spirit
Somebody wishes they could STOP time because of you
Somebody praises God for your friendship and love
Somebody can't wait to see you
Somebody loves you for who you are
Somebody loves the way you make them feel
Somebody wants to be with you
Somebody wants you to know they are there for you
Somebody is glad that you're his friend
Somebody wants to be your friend
Somebody stayed up all night thinking about you
Somebody is alive because of you
Somebody is wishing that you noticed him
Somebody wants to get to know you better
Somebody wants to be near you
Somebody misses your advice and guidance
Somebody has faith in you
Somebody trusts you
Somebody needs you to send them this letter
Somebody needs you to have faith in them
Somebody will cry when they read this
Somebody needs you to let them be your friend
Somebody hears a song that reminds them of you
That somebody . . . is me . . .
VANISHED FRIEND
Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end;
Yet days go by, and weeks rush on,
And before I know it a year is gone.
And I never see my old friend's face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.
And he rang mine. We were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men:
Tired with playing a foolish game,
Tired with trying to make a name.
"Tomorrow" I say, "I will call on Jim"
"Just to show that I'm thinking of him."
But tomorrow comes - and tomorrow goes,
And the distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner! - yet miles away,
"Here's a telegram sir . . ."
"Jim died today."
And that's what we get and deserve in the end:
Around the corner, a vanished friend.
***Remember to always say what you mean. If you love someone, tell them. Don't be afraid to express yourself. Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you. Because when you decide that it is the right time, it might be too late. Seize the day. Never have regrets. And most importantly, stay close to your friends and family, for they have helped make you the person that you are today.***
Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away they were meant to be there...to serve some sort of purpose, to teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are or who you want to become.
And sometimes things will happen to you that may seem horrible, painful, and unfair. But in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would never have realized your potential, strength, willpower, or heart.
Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness, and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, life would be like a smoothly paged, straight flat road to nowhere. Safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless.
The successes and downfalls you experience create who you are, and the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact, the lessons they teach us are probably the most poignant and important ones of all. If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks you her, forgive them because they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because they are teaching you to love and open your heart and eyes to little things.
Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take it from everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again. Talks to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen. Let yourself fall in love, break free and set your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you. Create your own life and then go out and live it.
Do you love me or do you not?
You told me once but I forgot.
So tell me now and tell me true,
So I can tell you...I love you!
Of all the people I've ever met,
You are the only one I can't forget.
And if I die before you do,
I'll go to heaven and wait for you.
If you are not there by judgement day,
I'll know you went the other way.
I'll give the angels back their wings,
And risk the loss of everything.
Just to prove my love is true,
I'll go to hell to be with you.
MIDSUMMER
You loved me for a little,
Who could not love me long;
You gave me wings of gladness
And lent my spirit song.
You loved me for an hour
But only with your eyes;
Your lips I could not capture
By storm or by surprise.
Your mouth that I remember
With rush of sudden pain
As one remembers starlit
Or roses after rain . . .
Out of a world of laughter
Suddenly I am sad . . .
Day and night it haunts me,
The kiss I never had.
WHAT IS LOVE?
What is love?
Is it something that can be explained?
Is it something that can be obtained?
Does it come down from the sky?
Does it make you cry?
Is it in a book?
Is it a recipe you can cook?
Does it have a true meaning?
Does it keep you leaning?
What is love?
Can it wipe a frown off your face?
Can it be a red rose in a vase?
Why does it always leave us so sad?
Why does it always leave us so mad?
Can it show its face on a cloudy day?
Can it be shown with a bouquet?
Why does love break hearts?
Why does love keep us apart?
WISHES OF A LOVER
As I look out at the majestic sea,
I know you and I were meant to be.
I only wish I could make you see
How much you mean to me.
I wish I could walk up to you
And speak the words that lovers do.
But now I sit here sad and blue
Wishing that I could be with you.
The skies are blue
When I'm with you.
The skies are gray
When you're away.
I wish I was mistaken
But you are taken.
I don't think you understand
How much I want to hold your hand.
I miss your touch
I miss it, oh, so much.
I love you a lot
But I know that love can't be bought.
WANTING YOU
I can't find the words to say,
To tell you that I feel this way.
I want to be with you;
What can I do to make you want me to?
If you look at me you'll understand
That all I want is to hold your hand.
I felt this way for oh so long,
It hurts me that I don't belong.
Wanting you is all a dream;
My heart aches, I want to scream.
I smile and laugh just thinking about you
Together now I wish it was true.
I always imagine your gentle touch,
If only you know I felt this much.
Not being with you I'm falling apart,
Because I don't know how to get to your heart.
If you could only see the love in my eyes,
Of all those nights I sat and cried.
Just look at me standing here,
call my name and I'll be right there.
How long the wait, I don't know,
But when the day comes, I'll let it show.
If only you knew my feelings for you,
I'll stay hopeful that you will soon feel the
same way too!
THINKING OF YOU
I sit in my room thinking of you,
Hoping that you are thinking of me.
I really don't know what I'll do,
I guess I'll just wait and see.
I wish you didn't go away,
I wish that you were near.
I really wish that you could stay,
To chase away my harm and fear.
I lay in bed wondering what you're thinking of,
I guess I'll never know.
And here I am thinking of love,
Thinking how I love you so.
I sit here remembering of the day we met,
Knowing that that's something I'll never forget.
I wish you didn't go away,
I wish that you were near.
I really wish that you could stay
To chase away my harm and fear.
LOVE IS . . .
A warm meal
My girlfriend being there for me
A warm blanked
A puppy
Parents care and concern
Someone who cares
A kiss
A compliment
Dancing closer and closer
A good friend
A gift for no reason
A big, long hug
A helping hand
A shoulder to cry on
Being there always forever
A back massage
A bouquet of roses
Your favorite smell
Hearing a song that brings back memories
LOVE
When I think of my past
And all I've been through
I wouldn't change a thing
For it all led to you
Every emotion I've known
Each heartache I've felt
Every teardrop that's fallen
each hand I've been dealt
I thought before you
That I'd felt it all
But you taught me different
As you tore down each wall
I now know a friendship
so honest and knowing
And feel a true love
Evermore growing
Each day, each night
Every moment that you're near
I feel closer and closer
I no longer know fear
For love isn't blind
It shows us our way
It's what really matters
In life, everyday
Love isn't the end
Nor the ultimate goal
I've discovered in you
That love is life's whole
Love now makes me realize after all that has been
You are my love and my life
My soulmate and friend
NEVER
Never say I love you
If you really don't care
Never talk about feelings
If they aren't really there
Never hold my hand
If you are going to break my heart
Never say you are going to
If you don't plan to start
Never look into my eyes
If all you do is lie
Never say hello
If you really mean good bye
If you really mean forever
Then say you will try
Never say forever
Cause forever makes me cry
TIME
Time is
Too slow for those who Wait,
Too swift for those who Fear,
Too long for those who Grieve,
Too short for those who Rejoice
But for those who Love,
Time is
Eternity
I HAVE LEARNED
I have learned
That not all friendships last a lifetime
And to cherish those that have the potential to
I have learned
That mistakes are a part of life
And you're ok if you make one as long as you're willing to fix what you have damaged
I have learned
That nobody is perfect
And you can't expect others or yourself to be flawless or sinless
I have learned
That sticks and stones do break bones
But words are not as harmless as they may seem
Sometimes words hurt more than wounds, and It's the inner scars that are more difficult to heal
I have learned
That if you want to do something just do it
Because tomorrow Isn't a gurantee
And every day could be your last
I have learned
That what others think is not as important
as I once thought
It's what you think about yourself that really matters
I have learned
That feelings shouldn't be hidden
It's better to get them out in the open
Through tears and words alike
I have learned
Its always ok to cry
And its not showing how weak of a person you are
But how brave you are to actually show you emotions.
I have learned
That hurting others is pointless
It's only a low form of hurting yourself
And demeaning your own personality
I have learned
That if someone doesnt return the love
That you have for them, you're still you
And there will be others you give your heart to
I have learned
That relationships arent always going to last forever
But you shouldnt be pessimistic while youre in one
Who knows? it might actually go somewhere
I have learned
That love needs to be unconditional
Or it isn't really love at all
Loving isnt something you should be able to
Turn on and off like a faucet
Love is something you feel for a person
Whether that person deserves it or not
I have learned
That forgiveness is a powerful tool
And if someone wants it from you genuinely
You shouldn't keep a lasting grudge between you
There is nothing that is truly unforgivable
I have learned.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
What would you do if
Every time you fell in love
You had to say goodbye?
What would you do if
Every time you wanted someone
They would never be there?
What would you do, if
Your bestfriend died tomorrow
And you never got to tell
Them how you felt?
What would you do if
You loved someone more than
Ever and you couldn't have them?
Some people love, and
Some people die. But I
Want to tell you I love
You, and you are a true friend.
If I died tomorrow, you
Would be in my heart.
Would I be in yours?
WHEN . . .
When the sun rises,
I think of you.
When the moon shines above,
I dream of you.
When I look at you,
I smile for joy.
When you are hurt,
I cry for you.
When I am with you,
I hold you close.
When you are leaving,
I kiss you goodbye
When I need someone,
I lean on you.
When you are in trouble,
I'm there for you.
When you go somewhere,
I follow you.
When you are sad,
I'll pray for you.
When you do something wrong,
I'll forgive you.
When the sky is falling,
I'll protect you.
When the light is off,
I'll shine on you.
When you are lonely,
I'll be with you.
When you need something,
I'll give it to you.
When I look into my heart,
I only see you.
Next To Me
Holding your hand,
Kissing you cheek;
My eyes begin to clearly see.
Feeling your warmth,
Holding you close;
I know I need you next to me.
My love for you can't be measured,
Through days of endless pleasure.
By my side, my love.
I watch you smile, so innocent and free.
It's clear to me now,
My life can never be complete;
Without you next to me.
Lying by your side,
Feeling your heart;
I dream of what soon shall be.
I'll stand here waiting for you,
Watching your beauty shine through;
And before God, you'll be standing next to me.
My love for you can't be measured,
Through nights of endless pleasure.
By my side, my love,
I'll watch you sleep, so quiet and free;
It's clear to me now,
My life will always be complete,
With your love next to me.
HEART AND SOUL
I saw you again today,
And my feelings I can't control.
The feelings that I have for you,
Fill up my heart and soul.
Every word you speak to me,
I treasure deep inside,
And I feel my love grow stronger,
A love I no longer can hide.
Every little touch you give,
Makes my heart beat out of control,
And no one knows these feelings,
Except my heart and soul.
I'LL ALWAYS BE THERE
I'll always be there
Waiting for you.
I'll always be there
Wanting to help you.
I'll always be there
Through thick and thin.
I'll always be there
To protect your skin.
I'll always be there
On your side.
I'll always be there
Right by your side.
I'll always be there
When times get tough.
I'll always be there
When life gets rough.
I'll always be there
When you're alone.
I'll always be there
To talk on the phone.
I'll always be there
When you're really mad.
I'll always be there
When you're feeling sad.
I'll always be there
'Til the end.
HOPE
I paced along the dusty road
not knowing what to do.
I knew only looking forward,
Looking at the smiling you.
You gave me joy when none was there,
you rid my thoughts of despair.
I think of you when I cry-
And how you saved me when i almost died.
I figured out at the start
That true feelings come from the heart.
As time went by, I felt fear,
Fear for what might disappear.
But I look to the future,
Ever in the past,
Because whatever the future holds, it will last.
The past is gone, far and away,
It will never come back to where I stay.
I will always have you and hold you dear;
you will always be with me close and near.
I will always have hope in my heart
And no one can ever take that apart.
You're...
My friend,
my companion,
Through good times and bad
My friend,
My buddy,
Through happy and sad,
Beside me you stand,
Beside me you walk,
You're there to listen,
You're there to talk,
With happiness,
With smiles,
With pain and tears,
I know you'll be there,
Throughout the years!
I am a tiny Angel
I'm smaller than your thumb,
I live in peoples pocket,
That's where I have my fun
I don't suppose you've seen me,
I'm too tiny to detect
Though I'm with you all the time,
I doubt we've ever met.
Before I was an Angel...
I was a fairy in a flower,
God, Himself, hand-picked me,
And gave me Angel power.
Now God has many Angels that
He trains in Angel pools
We become His eyes, and ears, and hands
We become His special tools.
And because God is so busy,
With way too much to do
He said that my assignment
Is to keep close watch on you.
When He tucked me in your pocket
He blessed you with Angel care
Then told me to never leave you,
And I vowed always to be there.
THE TRUE FOREVER
Everyone always tells their friends they'll be Best
Friends Forever, but how
often does that last? You might be best friends one
year,pretty good friends
the next year, don't talk that often the next
year, and don't want to talk at
all the year after that. So, I just wanted to say,
even if I never talk to
you again in my life, you are special to me and you
have made a difference
in my life, I look up to you, respect you, and truly
cherish you. Send this
to all your friends, no matter how often you talk,or
how close you are, and
send it to the person who sent it to you. Let old
friends know you haven't
forgotten them, and tell new friends you never will.
Remember, everyone
needs a friend, someday you might feel like you have
no friends at all, just
remember this e-mail and take comfort in knowing
somebody out there cares
about you and always will.
I AM
I am: yet what I am none cares or knows,
My friends forsake me like a memory lost;
I am the self-consumer of my woes,
They rise and vanish in oblivious host,
Like shades in love and death's oblivion lost;
And yet I am, and live with shadows tost
Into the nothingness of scorn and noise,
Into the living sea of waking dreams,
Where there is neither sense of life nor joys,
But the vast shipwreck of my life's esteems;
And e'en the dearest - that I loved the best -
Are strange - nay, rather stranger than the rest.
I long for scenes where man has never trod;
A place where woman never smiled or wept;
There to abide with my Creator, God,
And sleep as I in childhood sweetly slept:
Untroubling and untroubled where I lie
The grass below - above the vaulted sky.
THE HUMAN TOUCH
'Tis the human touch in this world that counts,
The touch of your hand and mine,
Which means far more to the fainting heart
Than shelter and bread and wine;
For shelter is gone when the night is o'er,
And bread lasts only a day,
But the touch of the hand and the sound of the voice
Sing on in the soul always.
LEISURE
What is this life if, full of care
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight.,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this is, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
CHARITY
There is so much good in the worst of us,
And so much bad in the best of us,
That it ill behooves any of us
To find fault with the rest of us.
IT CAN BE DONE
The man who misses all the fun
Is he who says, "It can't be done."
In solemn pride he stands aloof
And greets each venture with reproof.
Had he the power he'd efface
The history of the human race;
We'd have no radio or motor cars,
No streets lit by electric stars;
No telegraph nor telephone,
We'd linger in the age of stone.
The world would sleep if things were run
By men who say, "It can't be done."
LOVE
I love you,
Not only for what you are,
But for what I am
When I am with you.
I love you,
Not only for what
You have made of yourself,
But for what
You are making of me.
I love you
For the part of me
That you bring out;
I love you
For putting your hand
Into my heaped-up heart
And passing over
All the foolish, weak things
That you can't help
Dimly seeing there,
And for drawing out
Into the light
All the beautiful belongings
That no one else had looked
Quite far enough to find.
I love you because you
Are helping me to make
Of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern
But a temple;
Out of the works
Of my every day
Not a reproach
But a song.
I love you
Because you have done
More than any creed
Could have done
To make me good,
And more than any fate
Could have done
To make me happy.
You have done it
Without a touch,
Without a word,
Without a sign.
You have done it
By being yourself/
Perhaps that is what
Being a friend means,
After all.
CONFIDE IN A FRIEND
When you're tired and worn at the close of day
And things just don't seem to be going your way.
When even your patience has come to an end,
Try taking time out and confide in a friend.
Perhaps he too may have walked the same road
With a much troubled heart and burdensome load.
To find peace and comfort somewhere near the end.
When he stopped long enough to confide in a friend.
For then are most welcome a few words of cheer,
For someone who willingly lends you an ear.
No troubles exist that time cannot mend,
But to get quick relief, just confide in a friend.
THE MORON
See the happy moron,
He doesn't give a damn!
I wish I were a moron -
My God! Perhaps I am!
Relationships are like the sand on the beach...
held loosely with an open hand the sand remains where it is, but the minute you close your hand and hold too tightly it trickles through your fingers . . . .
I guess you get used to somebody
Kinda like having them around
I guess you get used to the way they make you happy
Bring you up when you're feeling down
I never dreamed when I was letting you go that
I would wake up and miss you this much
I guess you get used to somebody, I guess you get used to being loved
I kinda miss those rambling conversations
Where we'd talk about nothing
The way you always made me laugh at my frustrations
Baby that was something
I should've been careful what I wished for
'Cause I've got my freedom and so much more
I never dreamed when I was letting you go that
I would wake up and miss you this much
I guess you get used to somebody
I guess you get used to being loved
THE WATERFALL
Water cascades from fixed rocks above,
And forms a majestic mist of vanishing love,
Feel it gently caress my face
In this beauteous yet lonely place,
The soothing crash of water
Brings a silent slaughter,
For the heart is one with rock,
And the mind is left in shock,
Coldness kills the bliss
That never truly exists
In a life full of sorrow,
What is there tomorrow?
Nothing but the mist
Of those left un-kissed.
See the rainbows form,
Before the coming of the storm,
The red, green, and blue,
I bid you adieu,
For the light of sun is hidden,
And the touch of warmth forbidden,
Lonely is the day
Which carries your heart away
To this place where I bawl,
Under the great waterfall
That douses all your dreams,
Can you hear my loud screams?
Crying for a heart not mine
Of something fair and fine,
The green of shrubs grow dark,
My heart carries the mark-
Life is so forlorn,
So I view this place with scorn...

MISS YOU
I miss you in the morning, dear,
When all the world is new;
I know the day can bring no joy
Because it brings not you.
I miss the well-loved voice of you,
Your tender smile for me,
The charm of you, the joy of your
Unfailing sympathy.
The world is full of folks, it's true,
But there was only one of you.
I miss you at the noontide, dear;
The crowded city streets
Seems but a desert now, I walk
In solitude complete.
I miss your hand beside my own
The light touch of your hand,
The quick gleam in the eyes of you
So sure to understand.
The world is full of folks, it's true,
But there was only one of you.
I miss you in the evening, dear,
When daylight fades away;
I miss the sheltering arms of you
To rest me from the day,
I try to think I see you yet
There where the firelight gleams -
Weary at last, I sleep, and still
I miss you in my dreams.
The world is full of folks, it's true,
But there was only one of you.
You've made me realize
That I've always been missing something
I never even knew I wanted
Never fear shadows
They simply mean
There is a light
Shinning somewhere nearby....
NOT THERE
I stare at you across the room
I see your warming face
I try to see the inside you hide
Your feelings I try to embrace
I realize as I look at you
As I just sit and stare
I can see you perfectly clear
But for some reason you're not there
I see your eyes, I see your face
But yet I can not see
Your loving inside that you had
I can't see your personality
I realize how much that you have changed
How you don't seem to care
I stare at you across the room
But yet you are not there
I look in the mirror and I see,
A person who never stops crying
A person that is not me
A person that hurts
A person in pain
A person who lost it
A person who is insane
A person that worries All day and all night
A person who is scared
A person in fright
A person I don't like
A person I don't want to be
A person who knows –
You will never love me.
INSIDE
What goes on, inside of her head?
How could she say all those things that she said?
What did I do, and why did she lie?
Was it intended to hurt me and just make me cry?
And why would she care about what I do now?
I see her fake smile and know it's a frown.
If she's mad at me now, and just glares at me,
Does it mean that she's jealous? But why should she be?
I don't care what she thinks, I don't care what she says,
Is it the thought of my happiness that she fears and she dreads?
I'm aware that she's mad that I've found a great gal,
But why is she lying? I'd love to know why.
She's trying so hard, but she's wasting his time
For the gal I'm with now can see straight through the lies.
My knees start to weaken
At the first sight of your face
My heart starts to melt
At the thought of your embrace
Your love flows through me
Like a river flows down its path
Your kiss lifts me up so high
I could fall to my death
I really wish that
When I looked into your eyes
I could see
Exactly how it is that
You feel about me
I get nervous when you're around me
I feel I could cry when you're away
I dream about you
Every night and day
I want you to know
My last three words will always remain true
Regardless of what I may say or do
You'll always know that I love you.
DISTANCE DOES NOT MATTER
Miles and miles
May keep us apart,
But no distance can divide
The bond of our hearts.
Our bodies may be
Separated by a vast ocean,
But we are connected by a
Bridge of our love and devotion.
You see temptation
Each and every day,
Yet you vow that
With me will you stay.
And I hope you can see
From my point of view,
That I will always
Love, honor and cherish you.
I LOVE YOU
Like I have never loved before..
You may ask how I know I'm in love
Well let me define my love
When I am in your arms
I am content and peaceful
Tat is love
When we are together
I long to be nowhere else
That is love
When we are apart
I long to be with u
That is love
I’d do anything for you
Just to see u smile
That is love
When u are sad
I make u happy
That is love..
Tears come to my eyes
When I think of u and I
That is love
When I think about our first kiss
And the world stands still
That is love
I love you
You are the one and only thing on earth
That makes me happy..
THE BARGAIN
My true love hath my heart, and I have hers,
By just exchange one for another given:
I hold hers dear, and mine she cannot miss,
There never was a better bargain driven:
My true love hath my heart, and I have hers.
Her heart in me keeps her and me in one,
My heart in she her thoughts and senses guides:
She loves my heart, for once it was her own,
I cherish hers because in me it bides:
My true love hath my heart, and I have his.
A WELCOME
Come in the evening, or come in the morning,
Come when you’re looked for, or come without warning,
Kisses and welcomes you’ll find here before you,
And the oftener you come here the more I’ll adore you.
THE NIGHT HAS A THOUSAND EYES
The night has a thousand eyes,
And the day but one,
Yet the light of the bright world dies
With the dying sun.
The mind has a thousand eyes,
And the heart but one;
Yet the light of a whole life dies
When love is done.
MIDSUMMER
You loved me for a little,
Who could not love me long;
You gave me wings of gladness
And lent my spirit song.
You loved me for an hour
But only with your eyes;
Your lips I could not capture
By storm or by surprise.
Your mouth that I remember
With rush of sudden pain
As one remembers starlight
Or roses after rain . . .
Out of a world of laughter
Suddenly I am sad . . .
Day and night it haunts me,
The kiss I never had.
ALL PATHS LEAD TO YOU
All paths lead to you
Wherever I stray,
You are the evening star
At the end of the day.
All paths lead to you
Hill-top or low,
You are the white birch
In the sun’s glow.
All paths lead to you
Wherever I roam
You are the lark-song
Calling me home.
MISS YOU
Miss you, miss you , miss you;
Everything I do
Echoes with the laughter
And the voice of you
You’re on every corner,
Every turn and twist,
Every old familiar spot
Whispers how you’re missed.
Miss you, miss you miss you!
Everywhere I go
There are poignant memories dancing in a row.
Silhouette and shadow
Of your form and face,
Substance and reality
Everywhere displace.
Oh, I miss you, miss you!
God! I miss you, Girl!
There’s a strange, sad silence
‘Mid the busy whirl,
Just as tho’ the ordinary
Daily things I do
Wait with me, expectant
For a word from you
Miss you, miss you, miss you!
Nothing now seems true
Only that ‘twas heaven
Just to be with you.
LOVE’S PHILOSOPHY
The fountains mingle with the river,
And the rivers with the ocean;
The winds of heaven mix forever,
With a sweet emotion;
Nothing in the world is single;
All things by a law divine
In one another’s being mingle: -
Why not I with thine?
See! The mountains kiss high heaven,
And the waves clasp one another;
No sister flower would be forgiven
If it disdained its brother;
And the sunlight clasps the earth,
And the moonbeams kiss the sea: -
What are all these kissings worth,
If thou kiss not me?
A WISE OLD OWL
A wise old owl lived in an oak;
The more he saw the less he spoke;
The less he spoke the more he heard:
Why can’t we all be like that bird?
IF I HAD KNOWN
If I had known what trouble you were bearing;
What griefs were in the silence of your face;
I would have been more gentle, and more caring
And tried to give you gladness for a space.
I would have brought more warmth into the place,
If I had known.
If I had known what thoughts despairing drew you;
(Why do we never try to understand?)
I would have lent a little friendship to you,
And slipped my hand within your hand,
And made you stay more pleasant in the land,
If I had known.
TRUTH
Truth is the trial of itself,
And needs no other touch;
And purer than the purest gold,
Refine it ne’ev so much.
It is the life and light of love,
The sun that ever shineth,
And spirit of that special grace,
That faith and love defineth.
It is the warrant of the word,
That yields a scent so sweet,
As gives a power to faith to tread
All falsehood under feet.
NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
I LOVE THE WAY . . .
I love the way you visit each night
and fill my dreams with desire.
I love the way you touch my hand
and fill my soul with fire.
I love the way you draw me near
for a warm embrace.
I love the way I close my eyes
and see your smiling face.
I love the way your lips
meet mine for a passionate kiss.
I love the way just thinking of you
fills my heart with bliss.
IF I KNEW
If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out! the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.
There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"
But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I l! ove you
and I hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.
So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear
Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.
****DEDICATED TO THE VICTIMS OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2001****
GOODBYE
I survived before you, and after will be the same
You can't tear me down, my foundations remain
You won't break my soul, though you shattered my heart
But from this I'll have a fresh start
I know that I'm strong, you don't make me complete
Did you really think you would bring me defeat?
Did you think I would sit here with tears in my eyes?
If anything you made me feel more alive
So make your exit, take your bow
I'll forget the past, live in the now.
Goodbye
It Could All Be So Simple
It could all be so simple
But you'd rather make it hard
Loving you is like a battle
And we both end up with scars
Tell me, who I have to be
To get some reciprocity
No one loves you more than me
And no one ever will
Is this just a silly game
That forces you to act this way
Forces you to scream my name
Then pretend that you can't stay
Tell me, who I have to be
To get some reciprocity
No one loves you more than me
And no one ever will
No matter how I think we grow
You always seem to let me know
It ain't workin'
It ain't workin'
And when I try to walk away
You'd hurt yourself to make me stay
This is crazy
This is crazy
I keep letting you back in
How can I explain myself
As painful as this thing has been
I just can't be with no one else
See I know what we got to do
You let go and I'll let go too
'Cuz no one’s hurt me more than you
And no one ever will
