Reunion 2001
Oakland, California
Hosted by: Pauline Satterfield & Family

The reunion all started Monday, July 2nd at the Holiday Inn Platinum Room on the second floor. We used that room to greet all of the family member, pass out T-shirts and a packet of information. It was a very nice setting to get reacquainted. The room was stocked with appetizers, refreshment and all the beautiful faces of family one could only be blessed to see.

The following day, July 3rd, we all gathered at the picnic site to get our eat on. Everybody showed up with the traditional red T-shirts and ready to eat. As usual, we all walked around greeting everybody, talking, laughing and catching up. Of course, we all felt like stars as everybody had out there cameras taking pictures. It was a wonderful day with the exception of it being a little warmer than we expected. Well, OK ... actually, it was HOT! But, it was all good as everybody enjoyed there self in spite of.

The night of July 3rd, about 15 or 20 of the adults went to Jimmy's, a local night club in Oakland. We had a wonderful time. Some might have more to say about this evening but, they haven't stepped forward yet. (smile)

The next day, July 4th, that was a "on your own day" for the adults and Marine World Six Flaggs for the kids. The kids all met in the lobby at 9:00 am that morning and after being assigned group leaders, they were off. I was told later that evening that the kids had a ball. As for the adults, some went to San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf, some shopping and the others, who knows. All I can say is I saw a lot of them chillin around the Hotel like me.

Around 6:00 that evening was the final event, the banquet dinner. It all took place on the top floor of the Holiday Inn over looking the bay, a beautiful setting for the occasion . The program started off with an opening prayer lead by Minister Noel Patillo. It was followed by an introduction of the Adams family. Each member was announced and walked in to take a place on the stage. Once they were all centered on stage, Aunt Dorothy lite 3 candles. One represented there Mother, the other represented there Father and the middle candle represented all of the family members that have passed on. It was very touching.

ENTERTAINMENT

Praise Dance: Performed by Nadera, Jasyme and Seranda. It was such a blessing to see these young girls praising God in the form of praise dance expression. We were all blessed deeply by this performance.

Rap: Performed by Noel Patillo. His rap was all about the Adams Family Reunion and the spirit and worship of God. He is very talented and ANOINTED. Actually that night, he was approached by "Le Star Production." He's up and coming y'all, look out for him to hit the gospel rap sense.

Gospel Singing: Performed by Michael Starr. He blessed us so much with his newest release "Worship." Talk about ushering in the spirit; Michael's voice is so anointed that there was not a dry eye in the room.

Dance Routine: The dancers were Nicole, Tamika, Stephanie and two other very close friends of CoCo and Mika (I will update there names shortly). They danced like professionals and entertained everybody. These were some fine young ladies that have lots of beauty and talent to dance and model. Well, maybe I'm bias because 2 of them happen to be my nieces. Or, maybe they really do have it goin on. (smile)

FASHION SHOW

We were blessed to have a very good friend of the family (Joanna) MC the fashion show. Joanna, you did a WONDERFUL job. (Thanks again) There were several different family members and friends modeling and showing off there best attire. As usual, everybody was dressed to kill. I must admit, the most entertaining model was "SHAFT." David (Debbie's boyfriend) came out in black leather pants and a long black leather coat and of course, black shades. He was the perfect shaft, outside of Samuel L. Jackson (or should I say Richard Roundtree). I was later told that some of the kids really thought Shaft was in the house. They were amazed when Shaft (David) kissed there grandma (Aunt Pauline) and Debbie and gave them both a rose. I wish I could have seen there face. The fashion show also included African attire that was offer by a couple that just happened to be in the hotel on the day of the banquet. I'll tell you, God was totally in the mist of it all.

Well, that was it, summed up in 5000 words or less. I know I left out a lot but, for those of you who were there, you'll always have your own memories. And for those of you who couldn't make it, we missed you but, I hope this gives you a picture of all the fun we had. God willing, I hope to see you in Detroit/2003.
