Adams Hopkins Austin Family Reunion
Sunny Southern California
July 19 – 22, 2007

(last updated 07/24/07)

Hello Family

The Reunion was AWESOME !!!! If you weren't there, you missed it. This was one of the larger gatherings, partly due to the fact that there was a larger family participation in attendance on the west coast. As I always do, I'll try to do my best to provide you with a day by day detail of events.

It all started on Wednesday 7/18/07 at Aunt Herbie and Jacks house, where they had a fish fry and band in the back yard. It was a nice sunny day, lot's of family, friends, good music and good food.

The next day on Thursday 7/19/07, many of us checked in to the hotel where the Meet and Greet was planned in one of the hotels hospitality suites. There we gathered to pick up our itinerary, T-shirts, gift bag, caught up with family and snack on appetizers. That night is always so nice because you get to see family members that you have not seen in SO LONG.

The following day Friday 7/20/07 was somewhat of a free day where many of us were on our own. Some enjoying the sites of Long Beach, others hanging around the hotel and some family members still arriving to the hotel.
That evening was the banquet. Social hour was between 5-6:30 and that is always nice because everyone is dress to impress...and that we were! Lot's of picture taking, hugs, conversations, catching up, it was REALLY very nice. Dinner was served which included a very tasty smothered chicken w/mushroom and artichoke, potato's and vegetable. For desert was a strawberry cheese cake.
After dinner, Uncle Ceaser provided a slide show of pictures of family members old and new, a fashion show, recognitions and a DJ and lot's of dancing. Kim and myself must have danced the longest and I can feel every bit of it today. I think it's going to take a week to get back to normal. (lol) We attempted to name the next hosting state for the next family reunion but it was undecided. An announcement will be given at a later date.

The next day Saturday 7/21/07 was the picnic. We all showed up in our powder blue T-shirts designed by our own Loraine. Terry, Dwayne (Stephanie's husband), Mark Starr cooked all the meat...ribs, chicken, hot links, hot dogs, we had potato salad, bake beans and several different cakes. Lots of soft drinks, water and hungry folks to take care of it all! There was a water balloon catching game, bat mitten, relay racing and a sack race. It all ended with the traditional family gathering in a HUGH circle, holding hands listening to the Ojays, Family Reunion song. We all began, hugging, crying and confessing our love for one another.
That night, we rented a stretched Hummer and about 25 of us went out of the town to a night club called Stevie's! We had a ball...what happened in the limo stays in the limo! (lol) Just kidding, we had a good time, as usual.

The last day, Sunday 7/22/07, some of us were able to get up and go to church before checking out of the hotel. Many of us went back to Aunt Herbie and Jacks house where we put hamburgers on the grill and enjoyed each others company until it was time to say good bye.

We started discussing getting older, taking better care of ourselves and loosing weight. We decided to do a 25 pound weight lost challenge. I will be providing a link for all the details in the very near future.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about the Southern California Reunion, hope to see you all again at our next gathering. Take care and GOD BLESS!!! Paulette
