What Is Media?
The word media is often thought of as radio, TV, newspapers, and magazines.
While not entirely incorrect, this definition is very incomplete. Media, the plural of medium,
acts as the bridge between the source and the audience. According to Marshall McLuhan, “All
media are active metaphors in their power to translate experience into new forms” (63). Any
medium used to
convey information
influence people
or share an idea
is a form of media. Media is any of the many
instruments used to speak to people.
