21 Sep 1841-Felix I. Batson admitted to the bar as a practicing attorney. Felix I. Batson was one of the first lawyers in Clarksville, AR. During the early 50's, he was the Circuit judge. He moved up to serve on the Supreme bench of AR. He was a member of the Confederate Congress. he served three terms in the United States Congress, 3rd district and Judge of the 5th Judicial Circuit of AR.

In 1850, Jordan Cravens came to Clarksville and read law in the office of Judge Batson. In 1854, Jordan received license to practice law. In 1855, Jordan partnered with J. M. Wilson for 3 years. In the Civil War, Jordan served in the 16th Arkansas Infantry and became a Colonel. He was wounded in the Battle of Oak Hill on Wilson's Creek. He was elected into the U. S. Congress serving 45th, 46th, and 47th sessions during 1877-1883.

The Herald Democrat, obit dated 20 Dec 1923, "Mrs. Jordan E. Cravens (Emma Batson) died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. B. T. Hollenberg, Little Rock, on 16 Dec 1923. She was born in Clarksville, 11 June 1849. Parents: Judge & Mrs. Felix I. Batson. She assisted to organize the Daughters of the Confederacy, & a charter member of the Ladies Aid Society of the Methodist Church. Children; Mrs. Gene Hollenberg, Little Rock, Mrs. Sophia Howell, Ft. Smith, Mrs. Jesse Onsby & Mrs. Emma Baston Guelic, Dallas, TX. Burial: Oakland Cemetery.".


The Herald Democrat, datd 18 Jan 1923, "The old Cravens house on the south side of the square is being moved away to give place to a modern building. Judge Batson of the Supreme Bench of AR owned it and lived there until his death before the Civil War. Emma Batson, Juge Batson's only child was born and reared there. She became Mrs. Jordan E. Cravens. Colonel Cravens rebuilt the house through the years. During the Civil War the Federal Troops to U. S. Congress from his home. The United Daughters of the Confederacy held its initial meeting there".
