Kindergarteners Playing Guitar
They are all kindergarteners in Chongjin City, North Korea.
The DPRK officially describes itself as a socialist state and holds elections,
but it is widely considered a dictatorship and has been described as totalitarian and Stalinist
with an elaborate cult of personality around the Kim family. The Workers' Party of Korea, led by a member
of the ruling family, holds power in the state and leads the Democratic Front for
the Reunification of the Fatherland of which all political officers are required to be a member.
The guitar is a type of chordophone, traditionally constructed from wood and strung with either nylon or steel strings and
distinguished from other chordophones by its construction and tuning. The modern guitar was preceded by the lute, the vihuela,
the four-course Renaissance guitar, and the five-course baroque guitar, all of which contributed to the development of the modern six-string instrument.
There are three main types of modern acoustic guitar: the classical guitar (nylon-string guitar), the steel-string acoustic guitar,
and the archtop guitar. The tone of an acoustic guitar is produced by the vibration of the strings,
which is amplified by the body of the guitar, which acts as a resonating chamber.
The classical guitar is often played as a solo instrument using a comprehensive fingerpicking technique.

and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique.” —Martha Graham
