The Rock
He was born Duane Johnson on
May 2
1972 in the state of California. His mother is
of Samoan heritage, the daughter of the High
Chief-
Peter Maivia, and his father the great legend
Rocky Johnson is of African-Canadian
heritage.n March of 1996 the Rock signed a contract
with the WWF.He was sent to one of the
WWF's
training facilities the USWA to hone his
already gifted skills taught to him by his
father.On November 17 1996 the Rock made his
WWF debut at Madison Square Gardens in a
six man
tag team bout.Being the last man on his team
still in the ring, the Rock gave his opponent a
shoulder
breaker and pinned him to the delight of the
fans.As months passed by the Rock was
winning
match after match and in February 1997 was
giving a Inter-Continental title shot against
Hunter
Hearst Hemsley on Monday Night Raw, and won it.July of 1997 the Rock was sitting in the
audience at a Raw card when all of a sudden
he jump into
the ring to the aid of Nation of Domination
leader Farooq and than signifying that he was
the newest
member of the N.O.D. then of course bring the leader of it.August of 1998. In September the Rock
became the number one contender for the
Heavyweight
title by defeating Ken Shamrock and
Mankind in a Triple Threat Match.On November 15,1999 the Rock, became the
youngest and also the first black WWF
Champion
after defeating Mankind at the Surviour
Series.
