Twilight 2000

By The Dawn’s Early Light

Motorized Group

American Voice, intercepted half way through...”the hell you say, I don't care if they know that Captain Giles has organized a resistance movement, catch me if you can Ivan, as for your request about Civ Govs Agent she hooked up with an outfit the Russian's call O'Grady's Irregulers and believe me they've got Ivan pretty pissed. Yes I know where they are hell no I won't tell you or anyone else in HQ...” transmission fades. {OOC}
Anyone who was at the Rally Point recognizes the voice as belonging to Captain Giles a Green Beret Officer from the 2oth SFG

In textbook English with a Russian Accent "This Colnel Illyia Romanov commander of the 76th Guards Airborne Division and heir apparent as the next Czar of Russia to the American Stragglers under the command of Captain O'Grady 5th Div Mech. If you surrender now and turn over the materials taken by American Spys you will be treated fairly as POW's and exchanged at the earliest opportunity. If you continue to flee and resist you will be treated as the Spies and Marauders some say you are. Please respond on this frequency.”
Signal is very strong

American Voice Weak Signal “Hey man you guys are making like to many negative waves mellow out...no I’ll have the roast pork, not the baked chicken...where was I. Lighten up the negative waves are like geting to intense and I really don’t want to get out of my hammock, those tanks are so noisy and confined when we have to get in them.

The perimeter had erupted around O'Grady as he dove for cover. Vehicles were exploding, and men were dropping like flies. God help us all, he thought, as he searched for a target. Suddenly, he felt a sledgehammer hitting him. He looked down to see an arrow protruding from his chest. What the fuck, he thought in disbelief, I've been hit by a fucking ARROW? Blood was streaming down his BDU's, as he struggled to sit up, his M16 slipping from his grasp. Everything around him took on a dreamlike quality, and he felt detatched from it all, like watching a movie, Shock, he thought, I'm going into
shock. Soon he realised that the firefight was over, as quickly as it had started. Several of the vehicles were burning fiercely, and bodies littered the compound. We've got to get out of here, he thought, and
tried to get to his feet. The effort was too much, and he slid to the ground again. Snowden appeared at his side. "Captain, take it easy, just try to rest", he said. O'Grady looked up at him. "The men", he whispered, "how many?" Snowden looked at the ground. "It's bad, sir. We lost Wilkins, Schwartz, and most of the new guys. We're still trying to get things sorted out." O'Grady closed his eyes, and a single tear rolled down his cheek."So many", he said, "so many." He slowly reached down, and fumbled at the PPK in his waistband. "Take it", he whispered, "it was Caswell's The bullets are hollow, there's info in them."
He marshaled his remaining strength, and looked directly at Snowden. "You are in command now. The men will need you to be strong. Promise me that you will carry out the mission. Don't let all these men
die for nothing. Promise me!" The effort taxed him more than he realized, and he started coughing up blood. Snowden's voice was choked with emotion, "Don't worry, sir, the mission wil be carried out. I swear it will, on my honor I swear it." O'Grady smiled, "Good man. I'm going to rest a while, now." His
coughing started in earnest again.

Latham reappears from the foliage with his pack slung across one shoulder and walks over to were Wilkins lay. There's not much left of him, or Belloch. The frag grenade had tore them up pretty good. Latham drops the pack on the ground beside them before stooping to check the bodies. He knows it's a formality, but he checks the artery in his neck all the same. To his surprise he finds a pulse. Faint, but still a pulse. Latham's helmet comes off and his ear goes straight to Wilkins mouth . There's a breath and a whisper. Latham looks him in the eyes. "I can't hear. Say again." But this time there's nothing, just the mans dying breath. He sits back on his heels and replaces his helmet on his head. He looks across at Belloch. There's no doubt about him. The complete left side of his heads missing. Someone's shouting the camp calling out names, trying to work out who still on their feet. Someone needs to take control of this chaos and soon. We've just made a shit load of noise and the smoke coming off the burning wrecks will tell every hostile for miles around exactly where we are. Best thing we can do is get the hell out of here. And quickly

The camp looks in complete disarray. 'This is not good.' Latham quickly searches the two bodies. There's a line between taking what's needed and scavenging from the dead and since escaping his chieftain with nothing but the clothes, he's been treading this line pretty closely. But this situation is different. These two have got buddies not twenty yards away. Strip searching the bodies wouldn't be PC at this moment. Ammo, batteries, map, compass: Although he suspects this stuff will be safely stowed away aboard one of the burning vehicles.

He checks up every couple of second, until he's finished. After half a minute he stands and shoulders his pack again. Things aren’t getting any better. One guy over by the LAV, someone else is checking the other corpses, and a couple on guard. What happen to O'Grady?

Latham heads across to where he last saw him and finds Snowdon crouched over the captain. There's a massive stab wound in his chest. It looks like it goes all the way through. "Jesus. Any of your guys medics?" Latham isn't one (MED 20) but he'll help as best he can. "There's two death over there. One of em' popped a frag grenade and took em both out. I think one of them belongs to you lot. Don't know the other one." When there's nothing else he can do he looks around at the burning vehicles. "Shit! Nothing like making a mess of things is there. I'm gonna check out the Hummer, make sure it still runs. Someone needs to pull you guys together and now. While I was out there watching you lot earlier. I saw someone else and I don't see them now. Chances are our marine friend weren't alone.".

*****SSGt Snowden is going to take command until a replacement comes along. We are going to pursue the original objective just like O'Grady wanted.*****

The ride was hard and bumpy. They hadn't dare try to remove the quarrel. Snowden had imobilized it and stopped the bleeding. O'Grady thought he must be halucinating because the compartment was now bathed in a very bright light and two figures stood before him. One was an old man silent in a black robe carrying a sickle, he gestured with one hand to come, the other was a beautiful young women in metallic armor and carrying a sword, who shook her head as she said, James do you want to live forever? {OOC}
O'Grady knows he's hurt bad
Captain O'Grady was suddenly very conscious and appears to be hallucinating, either that or he was talking to to the side of the vehicle.
O'Grady's condition is getting worse. Snowden knows he needs a surgeon and field hospital at the bare minimum to survive. The quarrel has been immobilized and the bleeding stopped but he doesn't dare remove it as it is very close to the heart.

Well, CPT, I don't mean to bore you with my life story, but if I can make ya smile over some of the weird things that
happened to me in my miserable excuse for a life, it'd be my pleasure, Sir." Johnny had only two questions at this
point -- What could he tell the CPT, and not have the man despise him, and What could Carmine leave out, and still have
anything to say? Well, the CPT was different, he was a decent guy, so he was gonna get the unvarnished truth... The
events were never far from Carmine's mind, so the story went on, and on, and on...

"... so after Mom was gone, I went into foster care, hated it, and eventually left. Lived on the streets of Philly
since I was 12. Did some legwork for a few guys who I'd like to forget, bought my first UZI when I was 14. I had to!
The streets of
Philly could chew you up and spit you out unless you had a piece to protect yourself. Used it a coupla times, mostly
to scare the hell out of others living on the streets. Never stayed around to see if I hit anything..."

"... got picked up hotwiring a car. But not just any car. A beautiful pale blue Mercedes. Unfortunately, this one was
owned by a Federal Judge, and I was headed for juvenile hall. Guarenteed, that UZI in my jean jacket didn't help things
at all. Kinda PO'd him when I launched into "Jeremy's spoken, clear as the day..." during my sentancing. He fined me
for contempt, but then realized all my cash was confiscated, so, hey!... At the last minute, some social worker stepped
in, and had me placed in a "special" program in sleepy Blossburg, PA. Where the hell's that?, I asked. Don't worry,
son, it's farrrr away from Philly..."

"How ya doin' CPT. Are ya bored to... sleep yet?" Carmine checks the man...

"The Program was somewhere between the Outward Bound experience, and a Boot Camp. The "campers" learned to rise early,
cook, clean, make beds, study, excercise, and lights out by 10PM. It was pure hell."

"...so when the Parole Officer came looking, I was already on the Appalachian Trail, headin' south to New Orleans..."

"Well, I got careless and was picked up by a Ranger while trying to break into a Park Service Fire Tower during that
bad-assed cold winter of 1996. Never thought Louisiana would be that cold. Spent a few weeks in jail, but by then,
the War was beginnin' to heat up. Hey, I still would've preferred the cold of the winter, when I heard the judge had
something "special" in store for me. I'd heard that one before, and could hardly wait..."

Carmine continued telling the story, staying away for the War. He checked the CPT while he drove, and kept a third eye
on the road for trouble...
(On LAV radio) "Romanov this is Captian O'Grady of the United States Army, We've had enough and are pulling back west, with the rest of our forces to Germany. As to material taken by American spies? You mean this US Marine Corps equipment your spies stole that we reappropriated? We'll be using it to get back to Germany...if you ever get to America drop me a line, O'Grady out."
I don't want to use our radios at all, not to respond to this or ANYTHING. Those Russians fiddled with them and whoever is looking for us I am sure they can monitor our transmissions. Until we can 'resecure' our radios, I don't want them used for anyhting save extreme emergency.
Green Beans know where we are...don't suppose they'd come round with a sneak a couple of M1s to us to help out. These radios seem to pick up just about everything...agian they probably give out everything at least to the Russians, so stay off them till we can find someone with commo skills to resecure them.

Snowden to Latham

When things went to hell at Kalisz, the only thing we were interested in was staying alive. I didn't know any of these guys just jumped on a fleeing truck and the rest is history. One of these guys, a woman actually was a CIA spook. She guided us to a priest in Ostrow for safe haven. The Safe haven went to hell she and several others were killed, but we learned some things...She had a mission that had gotten screwed up and basically recruited us to
help her. The US is pulling out of Europe, next fall, from the German port of
Bremerhaven. The Russians have several nuke missiles ready to strike Bremerhaven. They
will wait till US troops have gathered, and I'm assuming lots of Brits too. They will end the US threat with a few well placed bombs. They could kill thousands. They Russians, although in posession of the nukes, can't set them off. They were on something called the 'Barracuda' I assume that is a sub, but we don't know for sure. Someone took their codes that would permit the missiles launch. For some reason no one knows how to fire these missiles without the codes. We have info that says the codes are in Chestachowa. Now all of the original members of O'Grady's Irregulars are dead, save Carmine and me. Besides us two you now are the only one who knows about this. The Russians know as well. There is this crazy Russian commander who is attempting to set himself up as the new Czar. The codes are hidden with a Catholic icon 'the Black Madonna' which is a old painting of the virgin mary, one of the holiest items in all of Poland. I visited a shrine to it in St.Louis when I was young; this would give him power over all of Poland.
A Spetznaz detachment of the 1109th has been sent to get those codes. Hopefully we just wiped them out, that's who those "marines" were.  They are bound to have more than one group looking for the codes. Again I hope they are behind us. We are going to Kluczbork because we have a contact there. A Catholic priest named Aramis. We don't have any use for the Black Madonna, other than to sell it to the highest bidder, and I'm just not that kind of guy. If this Father Aramis has good ties, we can use it to bargin with, we turn it over to the Catholic Church. May be that would sort some of this mess out, it would give the Catholic church power over most of the Polish people, and may be get Poland on track to start rebuilding. We want the codes to stop the nukes, so we'll head into Kluczbork, hope the people there can get O'Grady help, because I don't think he'll make it any farther. Then Olesno, Dobrodzien, Lubliniec and then Chestachowa where we
start looking for our objective. We are still 100 klicks at least away, time is of the essense, but with Russians crawling all over we can't move that fast anyway.I know Britian is in as bad shape as the US. Carmine and me don't have anything to go back to, no family, no home. So we decided to make sure that the guys who want to get back home, can. I'm sure there would be lots of British casualties if some nukes drop on Bremerhaven. I hope you can see our peril and decide to help us out. That LAV's driver's seat is calling you, how bout a Union Jack or a little aircraft roundell painted on your hatch?
No lies here, our lines are that way (pointing west) and we are going that way (pointing SE) Those were O'Grady's last orders to me and I'm gonna see them carried out, even if it's just me going on foot.

     I just want to move away from the general area. Establish a night encampment watches will be as follows;
2000-2300 Carmine, Omar, Snowden (up attempting to stabalize O'Grady)Snowden then makes sure Bates doesn't bleed to death. I'd like to try to
get some info out of him.
2300-0200 Latham, Groggins
0200-0500 Kirby, Whitherspoon
0500 everyone up prepare to move at first light. Make sure we pick up EVERYHTING, I don't want to leave any thing behind. Check all dead especially the Marines for papers/documents/valuables-Lots of Star Trek Novels.
The other motorcycle (sidecar) survived Groggins was the driver, I was gonna assign him to gun on the FSV (I had mixed up chain gun with minigun) Groggins can move the Bike

Latham puts getting a few hours shut eye the first priority after the new camps established and secure. When your alone out there you tend not to sleep, you don't even catnap, not really. Every sight, every sound and SNAP! You're awake, It's like living on a razor edge. 'Glad I ran into this lot' Latham mutters to himself and he pulls his sleeping back up to his chin. 'Don' know how much longer I could have kept going.' "Latham!" It took three goes before the boot registered. "Latham! It's 2300 you're up." He wakes in total confusion and takes a couple of seconds to separate the LAV, Carmine and the dream from each other.
"LATHAM!"
"Yeah, I'm with it. Just give us a second to get it all together." He wipes his hand over his face and gathers himself up. "You're Carmine aren't you? I saw you working on the Hummer earlier. If you ever need a hand keeping it or any the other vehicles running just give me a shout." "I'll remember that, thanks. Snow want's to know if you can handle the chain guns on the Hummer."Latham checks his webbing and CAR then heads out of the LAV. Carmine grabs his arm as he passes. "Latham, the chain gun?" "Yeah I can use it. I'm not that hot, but I know how it works. Tell him I'd prefer to drive, but at the end of the day it's down to him. He is acting CO." He breaths in a lung full of the warm night air. "Quiet night so far?" He leaves Carmine to get his head down and goes to find Groggon to set up the sentry parameters. Latham will establish the silent watch system he's use to with the tanks. Keep everything quiet and still. Watch, listen, observe. The last thing we want is someone paying attention to us so on my watch no-one will. "Groggon, if you see anything report it in. Don't fire unless you are in immediate danger." If the previous watch has dug fox holes-YEH RIGHT- we'll use them. If not we'll improvise-Yup  If we spot anything, it's wake everyone up as quietly as possible. That unless the shooting starts again. At just befor 0200 Latham heads in to wake Kirby and Whitherspoon and report
on the watch. Them it's back to Dreamsville for a few more hours. After that it's the usual hygiene routine and weapons cleaning before we move out. Depending on Snowdon's decesion Latham's either driving the LAV or manning the Hummer' gun. He'd prefer the LAV, but if he's stuck in the Hummer it gives him a chance to get to know Carmine.
We are going to proceed SE to Kluzcbork at first light. Hopefully our contact Father Aramis will be able to give us safe haven and possibly some help for O'Grady.

"You talk a convincing tale, Snow. We'd heard rumours about you lot pulling out. Our CO was pretty close to the Germans. The word is they're not to happy about it." He takes a knee among the cover of a group of trees. "I got family back home. My mum and Dad still live near Nottingham and I've got a sister over here somewhere. Last I heard she was in German, which would put her pretty much in the firing line of those nucs. That's if those nukes exist." He sighs. "It's a bit like religion isn't it. There's no real evidence to support the existence of God, therefore no real reason why anyone should believe in him. Yet thousands file into church every week just in case. There's nothing to say those nucs are there, yet can we afford to take the risk?" The question was hypothetical and Latham didn't expect and answer from Snowdon. When he looks across at him he could tell the sergeant had read him pretty good. "I don't want a roundall, I'm not one of those Airforce pukes. I'll let you put a Union Jack on the LAV providing my regiment badge goes next to it. Don't care what you lot say, The King's Hussars rule. Now are we gonna find D'Artagnon before the captain gets any worse?"

2400-0100 move away from burning vehicals, radio intercepts show that people will be looking for us both good and bad. We've got something they want. I don't think we've realized what it is yet. We are going to Kluczbork because we have a percieved safe haven there. We lost 3 people (Caswell, Szymas, Gonderenko) in order to establish contact
with these Polish preists. The priest in Ostrow said we'd have good passage to Kluczbork where we could meet Father Aramis. Right now we need to sort things out and we have an idea that Kluczbork will give us shelter.
Our other option  would take us along a major highway, good for travel, but bad for encounters. This would be more direct route to Chestachowa (our destination) This route runs along the Warta River. The Warta seems to be the 'front lines' I'm worried about Russian garrisons (to protect river crossings) in Wielun. We also have radio intercept about Polish 10th trying to cross a river We know the 124th MRD and a Combat Engineer Bn was at Sieradz. If they are intent on wiping out 5th Div they may be using that Highway (through Zloczew, toward us) I'm worried we'd run into them.  We've put a delay into the 1109th getting to Chestachowa before us. They will (hopefully) assume we are taking the most direct route E  and will look for us there. We will not be there. We will use our contact in Kluczbork (that we paid for with personel) and hope they have the facilities to assist O'Grady. We could actually leave him there, complete our mission, and get him on the way back out. From a humanitarian stand point the Russians have a field hospital at
Ostrow, we killed a bunch of them there so I'm not so sure if we returned and said "help our wounded" that they'd be sympathetic. That would also let the 1109th get to Chestachowa ahead of us.
We'll do a visual on the town spend a half hour or so looking for enemy or town defenses that might cause a problem. Latham and Snowden will venture into town to try to contact Aramis everyone else will establish defensive positions with vehicles.Carmine will give the vehicals a little TLC while we are away Everyone will give a going over of our equiptment especially radios looking for stuff that's not supposed to be there. "Okay Sergeant, Now we're alone, what's the story. Why Southeast and not west?"
We are going to proceed SE to Kluzcbork at first light. Hopefully our
contact Fr. Aramis will be able to give us safe haven and possibly some help
for O'Grady. This is a list of people and where I will assign them. In the morning we will find out if this will change. I can see Groggins and Lt. Bennent leaving with the bike/sidecar/M60. Groggins seems to have the pack mentality and wants to hang with you guys for now. Lieutenant Bennet seems to recovering from the Shock/ PTSD

O'Grady wounded in FSV
Bennet (he had had the breakdown) if he's better put him in the sidecar
Groggins driving bike sidecar
Omar watching Bates in LAVs troop compartment
Bates wounded handcuffed in Lav troop compartment
Snowden commander's hatch LAV
Kirby scout bike
Carmine driving FSV
Whitherspoon gunning LAV
Latham driving LAV
If Latham has LCG we'll transfer some 25 ammo to FSV and he can gun it
We'll try to make an 'ambluance' in the back of the LAV.
Kluzcbork is 50 Klicks SE moving cautiously we should make it in a hour or
so. We'll stop several klicks outside of town. Snowden speaks Russian and
German (50 each) Aramis (our contact) is French anyone know French or
Polish? No one seems to be speaking up.

Latham and Snowden will venture into town to try to contact Aramis everyone else will establish defensive positions with vehicles. Carmine will give the vehicles a little TLC while we are away. Everyone will give a going over of our equiptment especially radios looking for stuff that's not supposed to be there. Hopefully Aramis will have a safe haven for us to hole up for a little while (we should have a few trade items, some guns,etc...)
As darkness decends it will be a good idea to stop. We'll set quick defensive positions, I'm not sure we have any NVG left. Kirby has a 25image intensifier which will give some help as to an encampment.Does Latham have LCG skill? Whitherspoon has been our 25 gunner, from what I know of the LAV they're like driving a bus so we'll need two guys with LCG fot both our 25mms. Everyone is drained from action so we'll try to get everyone a period and a half of rest. At first light I want to reassess situation, as to Captain's condition and equiptment. gear is fine but he looks a lot weaker and is running a high temperature. Whether or not the NPCs will stay with us. Nobody seems to have bugged out. Al (Snowden tells Latham when we stop) We are looking for something, I'll
elaborate on it when we have some time...but the lives of alot of allied soldiers depend on our completing this mission. As you know things are really f**ked up, and I wouldn't blame you if you want to head west to try to link up with friendliess. We need competent soldiers. If you don't know the US is pulling out of Europe I haven't heard what the Brits are doing, but our mission is to ensure the guys who want to get back to the states do, even if that means we don't go with them.
Snowden climbed atop the LAV and took up residence in the commanders position "How's she Latham? Whitherspoon ? " Like an old calvary picture he yelled MOVE OUT! and swung his good arm pointing to the South east, quickley feeling embarassed at the hackneyed action he almost blushed...then the wounded arm bumped against the hatch as they lurched away, and the pain made him forget his action....

Jesus, It John Wayne!" Latham chucks to himself moving the LAV out onto
the road. Through the cracked mirror he watches the Hummer fall into line behind. It's not quite dark yet, but not really light enough to see clearly either. Latham's eyes are tired due to the lack of sleep of the past week and he could real have done with switching on the lights. But that would be like switching on a fluorescent sign saying 'We're here!' He pushed on steadily, watching every tree, bush, potholes. Occasionally to the mirror to check the Hummer is still we them. Everything is just a huge mass of grey shadows. There could be a T-80 hidden in the trees up a head and we'll not see until we drive past. "Snowdon. You got you eyes open?" He asked through the interphone.
{OOC} The bike should be 2Ks ahead on the Kepno - Kluczbork road.
I'm taking it any serious obstruction would be reported back by radio or the bike coming back towards up.So the only trouble we're likely to hit would be a drive through ambush.
If we run into such trouble Latham will punch through with the LAV and hope
the Hummer is close enough behind to make use of the hole. If they can't it depends on whether they still mobile. If yes, hopefully they'll already have drawn up a regrouping plan from previous encounters Latham will check this out with Snowdon they stop. If no. Latham will swing the LAV around, remembering she isn't a tank and can't turn on a dime, and play at being the US Cavalry (Gez, John Wayne again. This guy gets around).
{BIC}

Latham spots the bike at the road junction ahead. Kirby is still sat astride it. He looks as twitchy as hell, but relieved to see us.. "Snowdon, road forks up here. You want to go left or right? Looks like the main road heads to the left. Do you want to stop here or push on?"
Snowden had been at war a long time and he realized until O'Grady got better (hopes) he was ranking party member.

{OOC} I'm gonna assume we lost everything on all vehicals that blew up ,which includes my HK CAW/ ammo . Snowden needs a replacement weapon. If my wounded arm prevents me from firing a rifle I want one of those Skorpion Machine Pistols (several available)
I'd also like to know what kind of arms we gathered from...
Crench / Wilbane / Gonzolez / Belloch {GM check prior turn results for their weapons}
I want Kirby carring Wilkins MP 5 incase he needs to perform combat from the motorcycle. I want to move the convoy to rendevouz with Kirby on the bike about 2klicks
then go over plans with him. We will move into the woods between here (Kepno) and Kluczbork, find a sutable bivouac area and go over vehicles, and whatever gear we have aquired in order to re-assess our situation. After everyone had collected what they could, they lifted O'Grady into the back of the Hummer. "Captain stay with us, we have to move, Carmine keep talking to the Captain for the entire ride tell him anything keep his
mind from going off, tell him about your childhood, tell him about Philly, tell him about how to field strip the M60 anything just keep talking.

Latham and Snow studies Kluczbork from the safety of the wood. They search for the building most likely to be the monastary. As well as take the time to assess the extent and circumstances of the population along with it's defensive capability. We don't want a stand up fight again, and neither do we want to get mobbed as liberators.

At Kluczbork

Presuming the town has lightly or no defences (none visible or obvious) Latham & Snowden will enter on foot and head towards the monastery. All contact with military and civilian population will be avoided until reaching the monastery. If contact occurs
1, Evade and Hide
2, talk and negotiate (Friendly, but carious)
3, Run and Hide
4, Fight and Flee.

Stop several klicks outside of town (0800) Don't use radios!!! Snowden and Latham will move into town. Every hour turn on 50km radio. If you can come into town Snowden will broadcast "We are getting out of here and heading to Wroclaw" Wroclaw is a town to our west, I hope to confuse anyone listening
into thinking we are fleeing. DO NOT answer, just move into town.
Al; Latham and Snowden will observe town and try to get to church with the fewest possible run ins with inhabitants. I'm hoping that at the mention of Aramis name and Gankowitz (priest from ostrow) that they'll be friendly.
Snowden and Latham are guided to a church by an old woman. Inside they
meet Father Aramis who tells them to leave their guns at the door.As we ask for help, The priest says not a good idea, he tells Latham to stay by the front door and for Snowden to accompany him to the alter. Upon reaching the alter Latham observes a Russian Officer (no weapon) emurge from a side door, Snowden and him speak calmly, after several minutes an American female officer and a Russian Partrooper emurge from behind the Russian Officer. Some more calm words then Snowden calmly turns and walks back to
Latham. "Grab you rifle calmley and walk out the door we have alot to discuss as
our situation has just turned again."They walk out the door Snowden extends the radio antenna "We are returning to camp, take defensive positions, If you see anyone besides us, fire
warning shots, but we are temporarily on good terms with the Russians"
(Latham) They emerge back into the daylight and head off back towards the
vehicles. Once clear of the church Latham glances across at Snow. "Okay, what's the story with the Russians and American?"
(Snow)
The Russian officer I was speaking to was Major Gregon..The guy who is chasing us. He knows where we are, who we are, he knows O'Grady is seriously wounded by a quarrel, he knows where we are going. He offered us surgical help for O'Grady, info on POWs used as slave labor by marauders we could rescue and passage out. For the info we have.... I got to get back to the camp and go over some of the facts, and see if O'Grady
is okay....
(Latham)"Wow up a minute! I thought you told me Gregon the man in charge of the
Spetznaz unit we got the LAV from. And the American? Is she another 'Red Marine? " Latham pulls Snowdon to a halt once among the cover of the trees outside the town. "Snow, how did he know O'Grady is as bad as he is? Earlier I told you I saw someone else sat outside the camp when I walked in. From  where I was hiding I could tell who got hit, but there was no way by what.
If Gregon knows O'Grady's been hit but a crossbow, then someone's told him .Also, how come he's here waiting for us?" He take a quick look around to make sure no-one is close enough to here. "Maybe it's just my paranoia, and being the new guy around here, that's still running a little high at the moment. But, I think we've got someone feeding this Russian hourly updates on us."
(Snowden)
They took a few strides before Snowden spoke..."Yeah, they either got someone inside, or they're so close around us. I've never dealt with this kind of crap before, I'm a platoon sergeant, I am given objectives, and I decide the best way to accomplish them without
loosing any of my men. Now I have to make a critical decision. That was Major Gregon of the 76th Guards Airborne. He is the guy who's chasing us, I too believe we've got a spook in our midst, or they are on us like shadows. The Russian Airborne trooper in there was a surgeon, Gregon was offering his services. We have a little info that he wants. I don't know who the US officer was, but he asked about a specific member of our party Sergeant Whitherpoon, asked if he knew a Lt. Pricilla Mathews, I assume that was her. Whitherspoon's been with us a while. We saved him when he was being pistol whipped by a couple of Russians. He's fired alot of 25 off our Fire Support Hummer, and killed alot of Russians. If he's the mole then he's REALLY undercover. It's not Carmine either he's the only original member of O'Grady's Irregulars except me. If it's anyone I bet it's that L-T Bennet. Omar seems too gang like to be a Russian, and he was crew on the hummer that they blew up with a booby trap. Groggins is carying an M14, I know this war ate up alot of material, but that's a museum piece, I'm worried Bennent maybe his driver Groggins too, used his poker face while his buddies were gettin' shot. They were wantin' to get
back to HQ, now they are taggin' along with us?
<<<OOC When they get half way between the town and our camp>>>
Snowden reaches into his shirt, pops the clip out of the PPK, leaves the PPK
inside shirt. Reaches for his own pistol. Hopefully if anyone is watching us, it will look like he's checking the magazine on his Beretta>>>Latham sees Snowden fumble inside his field jacket and remove something, then reach down and pulls his own pistol.
"Latham keep an eye out I've got to check something" Snowden sits down
<<<OOC using my Gerber multi tool and Gunsmith 50 examine bullets
would like to find out how data is stored and discoveres it microfilm with a small magnifier in the holster.>>>>
"Latham, Gregon says he will not let the nukes fly, something in me believes him. He seems like an honerable man. But if I'm wrong, and I give him what he wants just to save O'Grady's life, and those nukes fly....I don't want to even think about it."
When we return to camp ask Whitherspoon about Lt. Mathews. Who is Lt Mathews to you?" She was my Platoon Leader, missing in action and most likely dead. In a lower voice I know some of the guys think I’m crazy because I still talk to her; but she was my L-Tee it was my job to look out for her. I remember him having a picture out on his station of the FSV. Is the woman I saw at thechurch her? Most definitely.

O’Grady to everyone’s amazement while still weak as a kitten was conscious and asking for Snowden. Snowden reported to the C.O. and gave him a SITREP:

ADMINISTRATIVE

Can't say for sure if O'Grady will make it or not, that depends in large part on the actions of the group. In a worse case scenario though I do have a local House Rule that applies when the C.O. bought it, command was passed to another player, to give everyone a chance to see what its like and to shake up what we used to call the sheep syndrome.
Hey Gunther we've all been talking and would like Ed to continue to
lead, whether it's O'Grady or another CO>George

It has come to my attention that we might need a new leader and Ed won't be able to hold the CO position because of a house rule that gives others a chance to
be in command. While I think the rule is great, I personally don't want to hold a command position right now and would like it if Ed continued playing CO, if he wants to.

GM can’t fault anyone for loyalty
