The Hand

The Hand reaches out and touches
the palm of a new born baby's hand
the tiny fingers grasp
the strong finger that will point
The way.

The Hand reaches out and grasps
the toddler's hand as he struggles to stand
and take his first steps
upholding His child as he walks in
The Way.

The Hand reaches out to discipline
the child that disobeys the
rules of the Father.
that rod is love and will mold the child in
The Way.

The Hand reaches out to gently push
the child as she begins
a new phase of life
time to let go and let the child walk in
The Way.

The Hand reaches out to pick up
the child that has stumbled
fallen and in tears
those tears wiped clean by the love of
The Way.

The Hand reaches out to comfort
the child that has lost a friend
to human foolishness
the soft touch reminds her of
The Way.

The Hand reaches out to pat the back
of the child who achieved success
living in obedience to the plan
always rejoicing at life in
The Way.

The Hand reaches out to give the child
away as she joins in unity
with her husband
the love continues as two perpetuate
The Way.

The Hand reaches out to grab
the arm of the child that tries to wander
from his commitment
to keep him walking in
The Way.

The Hand reaches out to carry
the child through his final moments
of life in this world
a sweet reminder of the promise of
The Way.

The Hand reaches out to take the hand
of His good and faithful servant
who passes into life eternal
the glory that comes from living
The Way.

The Hand,
God’s Hand
reaches out
each step
of life
to touch to grasp to discipline to push
to lift to pat to join to grab to carry
to take
His child
through
this life
into life
eternal-
The Way.
