AVAILABILITY
vs
Self-Centeredness

What is
Availability?
.
Making my own schedule and priorities
secondary to the wishes of those I am serving.

Availability

It's related to the motivational gift of Serving

Scripture Text:

"For I have no man like-minded, who will naturally care for your state.  For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's"
Philippians 2:20,21

Some of the Attributes:

2.

Learning to reject distractions that hinder me from fulfilling my responsibilities.
Rejecting ambitions that would hinder me from delighting in God-given priorities.
Standing by a task until it is fully completed.

Questions to ask yourself:

1.

2.

3.

4.

Do you help others start a project and then slip away and hope they will finish it?
Have outside activities prevented you from carrying out promised family outings.
Have you reduced personal responsibilities to a minimum so you can have maximum time available to the one you are serving?
How many hours each week do you spend watching television?

Projects and Bible Study Questrions to help instill this quality:

1.

2.
3.

In Matthew 9:9 we see a great example of availability.  Read and discuss.
How did Jesus demonstrate availability?
Do you have a written list of priorities for your life?  If not, write one.  If you have a priority list, review it to see  that they are Spirit-directed, and also how faithfully you are following through on them.  Also, how much room is in your priority list for God and others?
