What is
Love?

Giving to other's basic needs without
having as my motive, personal reward.

Scripture Text:

"And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor,
and though I give my body to be burned, and have not
charity, it profiteth me nothing.  -  1 Corinthians 13:3

Some of the Attributes:

Learning how to give to the basic needs of others without motive of personal gain or reward.

Questions to ask yourself:

1.

2.
3.
4.

5.

6.

When you are with a person, do you enjoy spending time over and above what is expected or required?
Do you lose your temper?
Do you envy others for what they have?
In what practical ways have you demonstrated love to others during the past week?
Do you practice good manners?
Are you possessive in your friendships?
Do the actions or attitudes of others diminish the love you have for them?

Projects and Bible Study Questrions to help instill this quality:

1.

2.
3.

Read 1 Corinthians 13.  Substitute "Love" for "charity."
What was God's greatest demonstration of love to us?
Why is love greater than faith or hope?
Why is selfishness given as an opposite of love rather than hate being the opposite?

Notes:

One of the greatest mistakes we make in loving is that we tend to give love the way we receive it, rather than giving love the way the other person needs it.
