MIGUEL
Miguel is the more adventurous of the two conmen who went to El Dorado, but he had a romantic streak that made him want to stay - even though he couldn't. Decidedly Spanish, with the symptoms of an overgrown case of honor and art. Not to menion that he's an excellent fencer. But, if you want him, too bad. He's mine.

Miguel -
"Well, look on the positive side, Tulio. At least things
can't get any..."
*It starts pouring down rain. Miguel's grin fades into an
overdone frown.*
Tulio - "Were you going to say worse? Tell me, were you
going to say worse!?"
Miguel, - "No, no, I..."
Miguel & Tulio - "Ah - tons of gold for you, hey! Tons of gold for me, hey! Tons of gold for we, hey!"
Miguel - "I
am called Miguel"
Tulio - "And they call me Tulio."
Miguel - "And they call us Miguel and Tulio..."
Miguel - "It could be our
fate, our destiny... It could be possible!"
Tulio - "If I beleived in fate I wouldn't be playing with
loaded dice!"
Tulio - "... and we are
pretending to be gods in order to pull off our con. Now, put Chel
into the mix. What is the little voice saying?"
Miguel - "Yow!" *purrs*
Tulio - "NO! Not that little voice. My little voice. Now
listen, carefully..."
Miguel - "Chel is .... off limits?"
*Miguel and Tulio stare down at
two water barrels, while the Spanish soldiers close in.*
Miguel - "I'll bet we can make that!"
Tulio - "Two pesettas says we can't."

possible! And it is! It really is!"
Tulio - "You drank the sea water, didn't you!"
Miguel - "Why, you fight like
my sister."
Tulio - "Why thank you, I've fought your sister! I consider
that a compliment."
Best Scenes
My favorite scene in Road to El Dorado would have to be the one where Miguel and Tulio are fencing and Tulio says "Any last words?" and we get a close-up of Miguel, Tulio and their crossed steel and Miguel says, "I will cut you to ribbons.." I have to fan myself every time I see that, it's just, incredible...
Both of the scenes with the "Tons of gold for you" gig just crack me up. If you freeze-frame, Miguel looks so incredibly ridiculous every single frame but manages to look dignified throughout.
The scene where Miguel and Tulio are on Cortez's ship, and have just been caught, and Cortez is detailing the punishments they'll receive, including slavery on Cuban sugar plantations and Miguel immediately brightens up with his famous, "Cuba!" is just soooo funny. And it doesn't require anything from Tulio.
And then the whole schpeil that starts with Tulio's escape plan and ends with, "Well, it's *not* a prybar" is hilarious. My favorite part in this scene is when Miguel says, "...so, we go all the way back to Spain? In a rowboat? That's your plan, is it?" Tulio grins apologetically, "Yep, that's, pretty much it!" and then Miguel breaks into one of his charming smiles, "Well, I like it. So, how do we get on deck?"
And then the most touching scene in the whole movie has got to be when Miguel walks in on Tulio and Chel and when the two are smooching, Miguel says "Forget Miguel? .... Well, forget Tulio."

Miguel - "You know,
speaking of kings, the Cheif and High Preist seem a bit
tense..."
Tulio - "Buenos Dias! All we have to do is keep
playing the one against the other. You know, do a little
God-dance, chant some mystic mumbo-jumbo, dazzle 'em with some
smoke and mirrors, and then get the hell back to Spain!"
Miguel - "Just how are we gonna get all of this back to
Spain?"
Miguel and his mandolin, when Miguel wins his map of the New World.
It's not surprising that even though this scene is only a few seconds short they showed it on every teaser. It's Miguel, awed by his surroundings, and more than a little bit nervous turning his head. One of my favorites. Sorry the image quality isn't great.
Miguel - "Tulio, I just want you to know, I'm sorry about that girl in Barcelona." Guess who's wishing she was that girl in Barcelona. Mwahahaha. My Carmencita.
It's Miguel, again, this time staring at El Dorado's wonders. The pic would have been smaller except that I liked the shadows.
Thanks, Zeph, for giving me this. It's Miguel again, this time proposing they use the gold they steal from El Dorado to buy Spain. Good idea, no?
This is a funny scene.... Cortez is detailing punishments his two stowaways will receive, including Cuban sugar slavery and Miguel brightens up immediately, with his " All right! Cuba!"
Miguel and Tulio stuck on a boat. Tulio's doing the thinking and Miguel is helping him out.... Sort of. A teaser favorite, it wasn't as funny in the movie as on the teaser, but it was still hilarious.
This was probably the funniest scene in all of El Dorado... Chel comes in and says "Hello," really quietly. Miguel and Tulio jump onto a ledge and while Tulio is making idle threats about a lightning bolt, Miguel is doing this little thing and hissing. Really, it is funny....
Fencing 101: If you're as good as my Miguel - YOU DON'T NEED TO TAKE THE CLASS. Miguel, cut that sucker to ribbons!
It's Miguel dressed in an ornate loincloth and a collar. Needless to say, I love it. He's standing there with Tulio, looking rather drunken and abashed... Oh well, I still love him!
It's Miguel playing the mighy and powerful god. Of course Chel walks in on him and turns him into what he is three pictures up, but he still looks good here.
Miguel really wanted to go to El Dorado. Tulio really wanted to get the hell outa there. Miguel bribed him with a hundred-million pesettas. It worked. Isn't he cute?
Miguel looking at his map. Miguel worshipping his map. Miguel's eyes taking on an odd yellow tint as he stares at the map. HELP US! Sorry about the crappy scanning.
My favorite scene in the movie. This would be Miguel fencing Tulio when Miguel utters his famous, "I will cut you to ribbons." Purrrrrr...
Miguel and Tulio, unintentional stowawys on Cortez's ship to Mexico. That was not good. Sooo... who did order the pickles anyway?
Remember, Miguel, Chel is off limits (Not because of Tulio. Because of Carmen.). Funny scene though, it cracks me up. I like the way he purrs. Ah well, stare as much as you like, he's still mine.
Tulio - "You drank the sea water, didn't
you?"
Miguel, -"Oh, come on!"
Miguel is convinced he's in the right place. Tulio's convinced Miguel has lost his mind. Miguel is right, of course...
Apparently, our contemporary of Cortez likes animals... This is really a charming scene with Altivo practically begging to be taken and Miguel saluting him, congratulating him and thanking him. Of course, the horse just wanted the apple.
This is Miguel's first lecture about the "little voice," though many more will follow. Now if he'd just listen. I love that look he's giving Tulio.
Miguel has just realised where he is and is totally conked about it. Of course, Tulio thinks he's nuts. Again, I'm sorry about my scanning.... *Beats scanner*
Miguel thinks he's having a bad day. Actually he's having a magnificent day, he just doesn't realize it yet. This is the same look he has when Jaguar Man presses his spear a little to close for comfort. I wonder, is he still a tourist?
Miguel - "That's right! Don't question us, or we will have to unleash our awesome and terrible power against you, and you don't want that!"
Don't worry about Miguel, he's just a bit unstable. Wine has an odd effect on him. This is of course from "It's Tough to be a God," but it doesn't seem particularily hard on Miguel, does it?
Bold and adventurous, we set out, trusty broomstick (okay,it's an oar) in hand! Iddn' he such a cutie? Well of course he is. Nonetheless he is MINE!!!! I'm overprotective.
Hey look - Miguel, the mandolin and Tulio's loaded dice. He can really play!
This is a bad thing. A crazy jaguar controlled by an evil priest is causing the ground around you to burst into flame. Not good. Lord is Miguel sweating!
Tell me, why does he think this is bad? I - for one - TOTALLY AGREE WITH HIM!
Miguel, threatening to start a volcanic eruption. I would bow.
He's such a good fencer. *sigh* I envy his talent... Nice contrasts!
Well it took you two long enough! Oh well, nice play, guys. Miguel is really good in this one!
Erhermmmm. Somebody's feeling very, very guilty. Wonder why.
The horse does not look happy. Miguel looks terrified. Cute.
100 Doubloons for the pair of them, but I'll give the peron who turns in Miguel to me forty thousand pesetas! As long as they don't bring Tulio. No Tulio. Can't stand that guy.
Awwww... look, it's Miguel, asleep with his pillow. Now this is really cute. But he snores something awful.
Miguel is so nice, letting them have the day off. But Miguel has always been nice.
And after this he leaves El Dorado without a penny. That's his only weakness. He's too charitable.
What the heck is going on here? I sure don't know, but I do know that you are cute here!
Who? Me? No... you couldn't possibly be blaming me. Tulio, I could kill you for blaming, of all people, ME!
Not the best picture ever. But, he's still very handsome, posing for me, no?
My favorite still in the whole movie. Miguel is SOOOOO hot in this. Turn up the AC, somebody, plaese! This is getting urgent. Very, very urgent. *passes out*
