As for the New Year's Films, releases from Hollywood and HK will form a strong attack. Golden Harvest will naturally rely on a Jackie Chan.
The Vincent Kok Tak-Chiu film GLASS BOTTLE; besides starring Jackie Chan, also stars Tony Leung Chiu-Wai and Hsu Chi.
The Gum Sing - Sun Bo theatre chain will feature the Stephen Chow - Karen Mok KING OF COMEDY. The Western film dominated On-Lok theatre chain will feature Chow Yun-Fat's second Hollywood film THE CORRUPTOR.

Jacky Chan takes Terry Fan as Student
Jackie Chan is very happy to be able to cement the student-teacher
relationship. Actually, Jackie Chan and the Fan family
have close relations. Terry Fan Siu-Wong's father, Fan Mui-Sang,
has seen Jackie Chan as a member of the family for a
long time. Moreover, Jackie Chan is extremely fond of
Terry Fan Siu-Wong. Recently, Fan Mui-Sang,
who has been in Shanghai where he is a professor at the Shanghai School of Performing Arts, brought a bunch of students to visit Hong Kong. Jackie Chan invited him to the Golden Harvest - Jackie Chan movie studio.
Recently, Jackie has been hinting about retiring.
After meeting with Terry Fan Siu-Wong and being moved
by the meeting, Jackie got the idea of taking in Fan
as a student. The suggestion made Fan and his father
extremely happy.
Last week, at a meeting of the Hong Kong Performing Art Guild in Kowloon,
the trio met again to talk about the matter.
Jackie Chan agreed to formally take in Terry Fan as a
student on January 30th, 1999 -- the day GLASS BOTTLE
is scheduled to finish filming. After the announcement,
Fan Mui-Sang was overjoyed and, clutching Terry Fan's
hand, repeatedly thanked Jackie Chan's father and
Chan Chi-Keung. Fan Mui-Sang announced that he insists
on there being a full ceremony. With many in attendance,
Terry Fan Siu-Wong is to perform the traditional
tea-pouring and kow-towing student acceptance ceremony.
As for Terry Fan Siu-Wong , ever since he was a child
he was filled with admiration for Jackie Chan. After becoming
a student of Jackie Chan, Fan will no doubt be a part
of Jackie Chan's upcoming projects POLICE STORY 5 and
OPERATION CONDOR 3. The appearance of student and
teacher on the screen will undoubtedly be a source of
much debate in the future.
Also, she will be
acting with hot Japanese star Takenouchi Yutaka
in the final installment of the television series
(DOOMSDAY'S POEM). The show features guest stars in
every episode. Earlier Ryoko Hirosue
and Takako Osawa have made appearances. In the show,
she will be playing a deaf and mute woman with a
broken heart.
Even though her character does not
require her to speak Japanese, such a role is very
challenging.

His film 9413 was on the list of the ten worst box
office performers with only HK$268,000. Chun Yu felt
that the box office figure was unfair because his film
was only showing in one theater and shouldn't be
compared to films that were shown in theater chains.
Chun Yu expressed that because it was only shown in
one theater, he only made one copy. Without any
promotion, the film has made a profit. In April the
film would participate in a Far East Film Festival in
Italy. On the other hand, his previous production Zero
to Hero (Luen Sai Chiu Yun) didn't just lost money but
also his effort.
Chun Yu just came back from his vacation in Thailand.
When asked he went with his girlfriend as the report
of the rumored dispute between him and a reporter
claimed, Chun Yu first admitted that she was his
girlfriend, then he said, "She is my female friend."
Chun Yu explained that he got into a fight with the
reporters and took their film because they didn't
identity themselves as reporters. After two photos
the reporter asked if he could take another. He
thought they were tourists and felt that since they
took pictures and declined. However they didn't care
and when his female friend screamed, "No Photo!" They
took the camera and aimed it right in her face. He
said, "I am an artist. I am willing if they shoot me,
but I don't want to affect my friend, so I asked them
for their film. They spoke in English through the
entire incident. I was forced to use my limited
English to respond." Because the matter was getting
out of hand, Chun Yu suggested that they let the
police handle the matter. "When the police came the
female reporter claimed that I shot her with my
camcorder. So I suggested I would remove the video if
she removes her film. However she tried to pull a
switch. I was calm enough to catch her and tried to
take the film.
Later I asked them to come to the police station
with me to settle the matter, but they took off.
" Did he raise his hand against the female reporter?
Chun Yu said, "Of course not, I feel I have handled
this very well. I didn't touch them and only asked
for the film back. However the female reporter
scratched my hands with her fingernails."
The news has brought much joy to the industry as well
as Jackie because someone will now carry on the practices
, skills, and tradition of Jackie Chan.

After splitting up with Lee Kin-Ngok, Joey Wong has
