Aeternitas - The roman personification of Eternity. Symbolized by a serpent or worm similar to Ouroboros, holding it's tail in it's mouth, it was also symbolized as a pheonix rising from it's ashes.

Amphiptere - A legless, snakelike dragon with bird like wings [see Quetzalcoatl]

Amphisbaena- A two headed African dragon, one head on it's neck, one head on the tip of it's tail, with feathered wings and chicken feet. There is a modern day lizard named after this dragon.

Andromeda- A princess found chained to a rock on the seashore as an offering to the monster, the Kraken,which had been terrorising the land. She was rescued by Perseus, who later married her.

Apep - An egyptian dragon like monster, the god of darkness, chaos and evil. He was constantly in war with the light, and the god of the sun, Re (Ra), and whenever he would win the battle, It would cause a solar eclipse. Eventually Re slayed Apep.

Apocalyptic Beast -The beast mentioned in Revalations in the Bible who is said to have 'spoke as a dragon' and who beared the number '666', 'the number of the beast,' on it's head.

Apollyon - a beast found in the bible known as the 'Destroyer' and the angel of the bottomless pit. He is described as being “hideous to behold, with scales like a fish, wings like a dragon, bear’s feet, and a lion’s mouth.”

Bearded Dragon -

Benten - The japanese goddess of love, eloquence, wisdom, the arts, music, knowledge, good fortune and water, She is portrayed as riding a dragon while playing a harp, and is said to stop the evil dragons on earth from devouring children.

Beowulf - a warrior from the poem titled 'Beowulf' who fought a dragon and slew it, only to die from wounds inflicted by the dragon.

Blue Dragon - The guardian of the eastern signs of the Japanese Zodiac.

Bolla - In ancient Albanian folklore, Bolla is a  dragon-like creature that sleeps throughout the entire
year and awakens Saint George's Day, when it awakens and devours any humans that cross it's path. At the end of a twelve-year cycle it turns into  Kulshedra. This creature is a great fire-breathing dragon with nine tongues that is sometimes represented as an enormous woman with a hairy body and hanging breasts. It sometimes causes  a shortage of water and it requires human sacrifices to propitiate it.

Cadmus - Cadmus was the founder of the city of Thebes. The ledgend was that he had slain a great serpent who was sacred to Ares (the greek god of war) and planted it's teeth from which many armed men called Spartes emerged and became the ancestors of Thebes. He was told by a voice in the sky that he was doomed to become a serpent himself. Afterwards he married Harmonia (the goddess harmony) and had 4 children and lived in Thebes until their lives were almost over, then Harmonia and Cadmus moved to Illyria where they were transformed into serpents.

Chimera - a creature from greek mythology that is said to have the head of a lion, the body of a goat and the tail of a dragon. Often times it has multiple heads.

Cirein crôin - A Sea Serpent in Scottish Highland Folklore that was believed to be the largest of all creatures, being able to eat seven whales easily. [See: Sea Serpent]

Dewi- An old Welsh god. It was a great red serpent. The Dragon on the Welsh flag was derived from Dewi. [See: Welsh Dragon]

Dominance It also is the name for a group of dragons. Draco - A computer generated dragon in the latest Dragon movie, DragonHeart. Voice done by Sean Connery.

Dragon Carp - In Korean mythology, a poor fisherman once caught a gigantic carp but he set it free when it begged for mercy. Later it turned out the be the son of the Dragon-King, the ruler of the Ocean, who rewarded the fisherman richly.

Fafnir - A germanic ledgend, Fafnir was a great wyrm who guards the treasures of light and who was slain by Sigurd with Gram, a sword given to his father by Odin himself. Sigurd claimed the dragons treasure as his own. This angered Regin, Fafnir's brother, who wanted the hoard for himself so Sigurd slew him as well.

Fei Lian - The chinese god of wind who took the form of a winged dragon, but having the head of a stag and the tail of a snake. He is said to carry the wind in a bag.

Gargouillea great dragon that lived in the river Seine in France. The dragon ravaged Rouen and was slain in the 7th century by St. Romanus, the Archbishop of Rouen.

Golden Fleece - The Golden Fleece was the treasure sought by Jason and the Argonauts and was guarded by a fierce dragon.

Herren-Surge -  A devilish spirit serpent with seven heads. From Basque mythology, this creature sometimes had to be appeased by offerings of human beings, parallel behavior to that of his western cousins asking for damsels. Some stories even said he had the power of flight.

Iluyankas -in Hittite mythology, a ledgend of a great dragon and it's brood, passed out from too much wine from the hero Hupasiays, were slain by the thunder-god with his lightning.

Itzpapalotl - In Aztec mythology she is the dragon- like goddess of agriculture, her name means "Obsidian Knife Butterfly".
