Varsity Blues
Plot: In small-town Texas, high school football is a religion. The head coach is deified, as long as the team is winning and 17-year-old schoolboys carry the hopes of an entire community onto the gridiron every Friday night. In his 35th year as head coach, Bud Kilmer (Jon Voight) is trying to lead his West Canaan Coyotes to their 23rd division title. When star quarterback Lance Harbor (Paul Walker) suffers an injury, the Coyotes are forced to regroup under the questionable leadership of John Moxon (James Van Der Beek), a second-string quarterback with a slightly irreverent approach to the game. "Varsity Blues" explores our obsession with sports and how teenage athletes respond to the extraordinary pressures places on them.
What We Say:
Alisha Sayz: A Boy was okay. It wasn't GREAT but it wasn't BAD. Personally, I think Missy Crider's charater was a total bitch (all red heads are...take it from me...I happen to be one! LOL) Billy Little Plume (Adam Beach) was the TIGHTEST charater though. Even though he was a real (drunk) hardass, at the begining (well, when he 1st appeared) he got cool later on. Now, as for Scott's charater. I was scared half to death! LOL Not of him, but the way he reminded me of one of my ex's! It wasn't even funny how much Hate (Scott Caan...DUH!) acted like my ex. Hell, he even walked the SAME way! LOL But, my ex never killed anyone, thank god. LOL But n e wayz, Hate was cool. Even thought he acted like he didn't give a damn, he did. He acted hard, but he was a softy...somewhat.
Lisha Sayz: This movie freaked me out. Seriously! It was more like Clueless on acid! And Ducky (Scott Caan) was like the skateboard dude (from Clueless). First off, it's nice that Dark (James Duval) liked to show off his ass, but there wasn't ANYTHING to it! No offence to any James fan, but it was SO white! LOL My friend Michie enjoyed this movie SO much, cause she was like, "It's good that they have a movie that has teenages experimenting with different things." I agree. Though, I still don't like it much. Now, when I say that Ducky is like the Skateboard dude from Clueless, I'm SERIOUS! There was a SERIOUS resemblence there! First, the hair. Then, the skateboard. Third, well, he just looked like the skateboard dude. Scott really didn't have very many lines is this movie. I seriously doubt that he had enough lines to make a paragraph. Oh, and I don't recommend that you watch this movie with little kids around, it's WAY above their levels, plus, I dunno if they know what gay means.
Alisha Sayz: I liked this movie...but who didn't? LOL 1st, he had some FIONE ass guys in tight pants (Hey, I LIKE Billy Bob...Ron Lester!) LOL 2nd, I a fan of football, and people around here take it seriously! (A few years ago when FSU won a game...forgot what is was, I think it was against the Florida Gators, the fans came out of the stands and totally pusshed down the feild goal!) Plus, he had lots of good hits (I'm a freak, but I love it when football players crush one another. LOL) BUT, my MOST FAVORITE parts were with Tweeder! I mean, "Good Moonin' boys, good moonin'" and I LIKE that ass! And then, just crusin' in a police car...that's tight! LOL I had ONE problem thought: They had SORRY country accents! Seriously. If your gonna do country, DO COUNTRY! I think they should've had me and my cousin up there, cause we can do that country now (well DUH! I live in the southern most state...Florida! and I'm in the north part of it...can u say COUNTRY? LOL) Now, what they REALLY needed was some people from Taylor County (AKA Perry) because they got that country thang! LOL All you gotta do is hear my cousin to know that! But, all together, it was tight! Oh, AND GO MOX! He stood up to his dad, and went to Brown.
