ECE-B 2001 VOLUNTEERS FOR 4TH WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES
Braving the midnight chills and the hot rays of the morning sun: yours truly, Carlo, ECE-B friends Mia and Randy, and Joel
Heeding the call of the Catholic Church, three ECE-B 2001 members and two friends join in the effort of keeping the biggest religious event of the year peaceful and orderly.
Carlo, Joel, Mia, Randy and (ahem) yours truly participated as volunteers for the Vigil night of the 4th World Meeting of Families. Rigorous training and spiritual preparations were accomplished before taking part as a volunteer. Quite tiring and stressful but, of course, the joy of being with new friends and the fulfillment of being there for a good cause and helping out voluntarily provides a different kind of high!
Although the event missed the personal appearance of Pope John Paul II due to health reasons, the Filipino crowd still poured in in anticipation of the delivery of Pope's Message transmitted live to Manila from the Vatican City via satellite feed.
The ECE-B 2001 Portal would like to extend it's congratulations also to Engr. Joel J. Marciano, Engr. Fernando C. Morales, and Engr. Herminio J. Orbe for being named as new ASEAN Engineers during the recently concluded 20th conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organization held at Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
