Lenny was
born in New York City and lived there for the
first 10
years of his life. He is the only child of his white
father,
Sy Kravitz and black mother, Roxie Roker (starred
on "The
Jeffersons" sit com).
He is a
self taught musician....guitar, piano, bass and
drums.
He attended The Beverly Hills High School.
He was married
to Lisa Bonet in 1987 and they had one child, a
daughter
named Zoe. They split in 1991 and the divorce became
final in
1993.
He has had
many Hits. His "Let Love Rule" album displayed
Kravitz'
voice that sounded uncannily like Elvis Costello's.
And it had
a retrorock style.
His latest
albus is "5" and it has the two latest hits
" fly away:"
and " American Woman" which is a
remake from
an era gone by. It also includes many of his
original
songs. To name a few: "Supersoul Fighter", "Live", I Belong To you".
"Black Velveteen", "If you Can't Say No". "Thinking Of You", "Take Time"(this
one is really deep, thought provoking), etc......
Lenny's
music I find is more than just good licks on a guitar and good vocals,
He has something to say in most of his songs. Not just empty words.
Combine the two ingredients, and in my opinion, it is the best of both
worlds. I love his style and his depth.
Check out
his latest album, "5". It is a winner for sure. It is
definitely one of my favorites.
