The Patriarca Crime Family has been based out of both Boston and Providence however family leadership since the reign of Ray Patriarca Sr. has been based out of Providence. The Boston faction of the New England LCN has been severely weakened in the past thanks to information leaked to crooked FBI Agent John "Zip" Connolly by Jimmy "Whitey" Bulger and Stevie "the Rifleman" Flemmi. The family has undergone a resurgence of sorts since the 1990s. The Providence faction has remained the stronger faction of the Mafia Family also because they share the city with The Winter Hill Gang. The families were originally two entirely separate entities until being fused in to one family thanks to The Commission as the New York Families had originally overseen the running of the Providence Mafia.
