I am a student at UAA. I going for a BS in
Natural Sciences, with hopes to go to vet school
in the future. I have a 10 year old brother who
was recently diagnosed with AS and I am trying to
research AS for my family.

I have recently come to terms with the fact
that I may have Asperger Syndrome or a related
condition, though I am still worried about
going to see my GP for a diagnosis. I wanted to
thank you for your site as I found it a comfort
to know at least someone else has gone through
this.

I cannot give my name because i am not supposed
to be on this website (i am meant to me on a
revision site in my i.t. lesson) but i have
enjoyed reading this website. I always knew i
was wierd and so do my family and teachers, but
it has never been investigated even though like
you the signs were present from early on (i did
not seem extremely wierd until i started school
at the late age of 6). I think i have AS. i
first thought about this last year watching
grange hill. there was a boy in year 7 called
martin miller. nobody could understand him
except for me. he was a lot like me. it turned
out that he has AS. i am in school and i think
if i was diagnosed i would to better in my exams
but now it is to late because there are only 4
weeks left. my sister thinks i have it but my
parents ingnored it. i doubt i will be diagnosed
while i am at school. i do not really have any
friends (the ones i thought i did have ignored
me and said horrible things about me so i just
left them). i sometimes wished i had good
friends. i think that if i had a friend with AS
they would understand me and would not think i
was wierd. i find life very hard especially
compleating homework on time and finishing
classwork as i write slowly (you might find it
interesting to know that i was put on report on
time for this). the teachers think i am lazy, do
not put any effort in (and some even think i am
rude). if i was diagnosed i would make my own
website like you did. i have a lot more to say
but i am worried about taking to much space in
your guest book. i do not have an e-mail address
as i do not have a computer at home and e-mail
is banned from the school, but i will get one
soon. when i do i will leave you another message
containing my e-mail address so that you can
contact me with any questions or advice. i just
want to tell you one more thing i have noticed
while sufing the internet looking for AS sites.
a lot of people with AS are born late august.
Martin's birthday was august 30th, another
man had his bithday on august 30th, your
birthday was on august 20th and my birthday
happens to be on august 29th.

What a wonderful site, full of information and
so many tales of the same problems that my son
has had. He is now 12 and diagnosed with AS and
dyspraxia. Keep the faith.

Thank you for your perspective. I am a social
worker and have a client that may have
asperger's syndrome. We are looking into a
diagnosis. I needed to do some research on the
topic and your website was very insightful.

Thank you.

Thank you very much Kevin for opening your
heart. You give me some hope and peace of mind
about my son's future. You show a lot of
insight and talk a lot of sense about what
is the reality of the Asperger condition.

I also have been there in the sense of dealing with ignorance from other people. I had a very hard time during my school days until I was diagnosed with Dyslexia at 14 year old.

A week ago my son received the diagnosis that he has Asperger's. The good part of this is that has been diagnosed somewhat early, he is nearly eight yrs old. He was born on August 19th 1994, so his birthday is the day before yours.

Since he was 3 years old I have been bothering all kind of child services to get a confirmation to what I was suspecting, but always hoping that I was wrong. Well in any case now we know the reality and he is not alone in this battle. I tell to my son that everybody is unique and special in his own way, and that sometimes people don't want to accept that. And most important is how we see ourselves than how others see us, so he should not feel left out or think that he can't reach out for what he wants. Most of the time life is full of ups and downs but the best way is to confront the challenges and persevere.

I know and understand all the frustrations you are living with but be sure, with faith you will reach what you want too, I am sure of that.

Thank you again and may God give you his wisdom and guidance in your journey. Take care :-) Paula & Michael from Canada
