The Other Zorros

"There is Guy Williams as Zorro, and then there is everybody else." (MaryAnn)

Here is a list of 'everybody else'.
The years in which they appeared were given by Dixie.

The first Zorro - Douglas Fairbanks Sr.

1920 The Mark of Zorro - Douglas Fairbanks Sr.
1925 Don Q Son of Zorro - Douglas Fairbanks Sr.
1936 The Bold Caballero - Robert Livingstone
1937 Zorro Rides Again - John Carroll
1939 Zorro's Fighting Legion - Reed Hadley
1940 The Mark of Zorro - Tyrone Power
1944 Zorro's Black Whip - Linda Stirling
1947 Son of Zorro - George Turner
1949 Ghost of Zorro - Clayton Moore
1974 The Mark of Zorro - Frank Langella
1980 Zorro, the Gay Blade - George Hamilton
1990-1993 New World Zorro - Duncan Regehr
1998 The Mask of Zorro - Antonio Banderas and Anthony Hopkins

The little folder I keep these pictures in is titled "All Into One" because I think we get the Gable Grin without the ears, the Powell Eyes without the frenetic movements, the Valentino intensity in someone that SPEAKS! in most pleasing tones. I think it was Jeanne who mentioned Tyrone Powers.

IMHO Guy took all the best traits of various stars, the things we liked most about them, and rolled them "all into one" package and then made them his own. No one else was like him before, and there has never been anyone since who could come close to this one particular man. I just thought it might be fun to take a look at some of the things that may sometimes remind us of others that had come before and, perhaps, influenced him.
