Note: For the story to make (some) sense, you must first understand a little bit of herbal lore. It is said that when you blow three times on a dandelion puff, and there is one seed left, you can whisper a message to your beloved…
Sora looked up at her clear, blue namesake and sighed. It was a perfect day. The sky had not a cloud in it, the air was perfect, and there was a gentle breeze through her hair. The kind of day you want to spend with someone you loved. She sighed again and sat down on the grass. She could think of only one person that she wanted to spend today with. But he wasn’t real. Sora flopped backwards, her brown hair entangling with the green grass. Oh, if wishes were horses… Then, a flash of white caught her eye. A lone dandelion stood, defying the grass that surrounded it. The girl smiled and crawled over to it. She remembered the legends about the flower and how you could whisper a message to the one you love. Well, it was worth a shot. She blew the white puff, once, twice, watching the feathery seeds float away. One more time. She closed her eyes and blew. When she opened her eyes, she grinned. There was one seed left. Sora whispered a name.
“Mitsukake…”
Mitsukake looked up. He thought he had heard his name spoken. The healer glanced about. No one else was in the garden. He then dismissed it as nothing… as one single dandelion seed drifted by in the sky overhead.
