AVALANCE have just saved the planet from Sephiroth and Meteor. Cloud insisted on visiting the Forgotten City. Everybody said thank-you and good-bye except Cloud who wanted to say his alone.

Several memories rushed through the Ex-SOLDIER's mind, all of them about her. He quietly voiced his thoughts to the lake. "Why you Aeris? Of all the people in the world, why you?"

Cloud recalled how he had met her. I had fallen from the plate above sector five, landing through the roof of an old Church. If I was the one sitting there, I would have gotten up and ran away, but she didn't. Instead, she cared for me while I was injured. When I first opened my eyes, I thought I had died and gone to heaven because for a very short moment, I thought Aeris was an angel. She had beautiful emerald green eyes and flowing long brown hair that had a pink ribbon tied into it. She seemed so beautiful and innocent. We talked for a moment but were interrupted by the Turks, an elite group of mercenaries working for the ShinRa conglomerate. After saving her, I agreed to be her bodyguard, the payment was one date.

"I will never forget that night," Cloud said slowly, tears starting to fall from his mako-blue eyes.

I was looking out the window, not really doing anything when I heard a KNOCK on the door. It was Aeris. She asked me to go on a date with her. Hearing that made my heart skip a beat. Not really believing what I had just heard, I asked her to repeat. Aeris repeated the question and pushed me out without getting an answer. Aeris took me to Event Square, where we were the 100th couple so we were had to perform a play. I noticed that Aeris look especially happy when I kissed her hand.

After the play she led me to the gondala, a ride that shows the sights and wonders of the Gold Saucer. We went into the ride and sat on the seat. I wasn't looking out the window; I was looking at Aeris. After a few minutes Aeris told me that that I looked like "him", but I was different. Close to the end of the ride Aeris said, "I want to meet you."

I didn't understand so I said, "I'm right here."

Then Aeris repeated, "No, I want to MEET you."

I heard fireworks, but did not see them. I was gazing into Aeris' eyes and she was looking into mine. Before we knew it, our arms were wrapped around each other and we were kissing.

Cloud bent his tear-stained face and said, "Aeris, I never got a chance to say I love you."

In Cloud's hand there were two roses, one white, the color of death, and one red, the color of love. Cloud looked at the roses in his hand and bowed his head. "Aeris, I love you," and with that Cloud dropped the roses into the lake. The roses slowly drifted to the bottom of the lake. Then all of a sudden, the water began to bubble and the lake turned into a shade of green. Then Cloud suddenly heard a voice.

End of Chapter one

[Authors note: Thanks for reading my fanfiction! Is it good? I have already planned part two but I need some help from you guys. This won't apply when chapter two comes out but I need somebody for Tifa. Feel free to send comments, ideas (Tifa's new boyfriend), reviews, or just plain anything to Zeratul17@aol.com.]

PS: Brian Jacques (the author of the Redwall Series), and other writers, including FF7 fanfiction writers inspired me greatly because it gets kind of boring just reading.
