Gasp! No Daisuke!
(aka: The day Daisuke didn’t spend entirely with Ken. Hey! We all knew it would happen. It bound by percentages.)

Ken’s eyes narrowed as he listened to the young woman’s simpering.

“Oh, I’m sure it was you,” she purred into the ear of the student sitting next to her. It was all Ken could do to keep from laughing out loud. The boy she was speaking to was the self proclaimed genius of the 100 student class and the topic on everyone’s mind was who had taken top score on their most recent test. Ken turned his eyes away in an attempt to hide the sneer that was beginning to form. ‘What is this?’ he thought. He could almost hear Daisuke’s voice ringing in his ears, ‘Ken’s jealous of Tsuroi, Ken’s jealous of Tsuroi.’

“I am not!” he muttered to himself. After all, isn’t this what he had wanted, complete anonymity? What had he told Daisuke? That he just wanted to be another student, with out the pressures of being the best. Then why was his only wish to see Tsuroi fail?

Ken glanced back up when he realized that his test sheet was being shoved under his nose by an impatient teaching assistant. He knew he had the perfect score and all it took was a glance down to prove it. With a small smile, Ken slid his test sheet into his notebook, gathered the rest of his books and stood to leave, but not before hearing the sympathetic, “Oh,” from the young girl who had been petting Tsuroi’s ego a few moments before. He did not wait around to hear Tsuroi’s rationalizations, nor did he answer the call as to who had taken top score. After all, what he really wanted was complete anonymity.
