Croft, an understandable mistake since Dan and Seals
are brothers and sound exactly alike).  I highly

I’d Really Love To See You Tonight
 
 
Daisuke sighs sadly.  Another failed date.  No
surprise there.  He tosses off his jacket then blinks
at the phone.  A soft smile crosses his lips as he
picks up the receiver and dials a number by heart. 
“Hello?” answers a female voice.
 
//“Hello, yeah, it’s been a while.
Not much, how `bout you?
I’m not sure why I called,
I guess I really just wanted to talk to you.”//
 
She giggles cutely.  “Always the flirt, Dai.”
“Of course,” he grins.  //“And I was thinking maybe
later on,
We could get together for a while.
It’s been such a long time, 
And I really do miss your smile.”//
 
The girl’s blush can be felt over the phone, even as
full lips fall into a small frown.  “I don’t know,
Dai...”
//“I’m not talking `bout moving in,
And I don’t want to change your life.// Daisuke walks
onto his balcony, staring across town where the young
woman lives.
//“But there’s a warm wind blowing,
The stars are out, and I’d really love to see you
tonight.”//  She can’t help but smile.
“Alright, you win.  Come on over and we can hang out. 
At least for a little while.”
 
Weeks past, the pair seeing one another frequently. 
Currently, they’re talking on the phone.  “So what do
you want to do tomorrow, Dai?”
//“We could go walking through a windy park,
Or take a drive along the beach.
Or stay at home and watch t.v.
You see, it really doesn’t matter much to me.”//
“Oh?  So what does matter to you?” she asks teasingly.
“You.”
“Da-Daisuke...” He can hear the nervousness in her
beautiful voice.
//“I’m not talking `bout moving in,
And I don’t want to change your life.
But there’s a warm wind blowing,
The stars are out, and I’d really love to see you
tonight.”//
“I...I wish I could see you right now too.”  Someone
knocks on her door.  “Wait a sec.”  The door is swung
open, and who’s there to her surprise?
Daisuke laughs and winks, putting his cell away. 
“Hey, Mimi.”  The strawberry-blonde squeals and
pounces him.  “Whoa!”
 
They sit in the park, watching the sunset together. 
Mimi’s back to his chest.  “Hey, Mimi?”
“Yeah?”
“I...I just want you to know something.”
“What is it?”
//“I won’t ask for promises,
So you don’t have to lie.
We’ve both played that game before.”//  She smiles,
grateful and at the same time sad.  Memories flash
through both of them of past relationships.
//Say I love you, then say goodbye.//
Yamato turns away from Mimi.  “This isn’t working
out.”  He’s replaced by Taichi.
“Let’s just be friends, okay?”
Kari gazes at Daisuke with mournful eyes.  “I’m
sorry.”  Ken’s soft, sorrowful voice filters over the
phone.
“Goodbye.”
 
Once again they’re speaking to each other over the
phone, laughing about this and that.  “Man, Dai!  Your
stuff is all over my place!”
“You should complain!  Your junk is scattered all over
my flat, especially my poor bathroom!”
//I’m not talking `bout moving in//
“How about we do something Wednesday?”
“Oh I don’t know,” she taps the speaker playfully.  “I
usually go shopping Wednesdays.”
//And I don’t want to change your life.//
Daisuke grabs his car keys.  “Nice weather for an ice
cream.”
//But there’s a warm wind blowing//
“Is that a hint?” she giggles.
//“The stars are out, and I’d really love to see you
tonight.”//
 
“I don’t know, Mimi.  He looks kinda dorky in this
picture.”
“Just a little,” she laughs.
“What did he say to get you to go out with him?”  She
sighs dreamily.
“Just the sweetest things in the world.”
 
//I’m not talking `bout moving in,

Yup, this was a DaiMi fic!  One of the few Het
pairings I like in the Digimon universe and an odd
couple to boot!
Believe it or not, I really see Daisuke being like
this once he matures...that or a total Hack. *giggles*
