The first thing that I need to say is that I don't HATE Saifuu, just REALLY don't support it. I just like Raifuu better, and this is the story of why!
Soon after playing FF8, I realized that I was becoming a Fujin fanatic. I got completely addicted to the whole "monosyllabic, one-eyed albino with permanent PMS" thing, so, naturally, I looked to the internet for something to feed my addiction. What I soon realized was that in most cases, eyepatch wearing albino women tend to get paired with blond sorceress knights. Thus, I was introduced to the world of Saifuu.
So, for a while, I happily dribbled hours of my life away indulging in the Fujin-ey, and thus Saifuu-ey goodness.
That is, until the little gears in my brain started to turn in the opposite direction.
I had suddenly come across the fact that I didn't really like Seifer, and didn't think that he went well with Fujin. The albino as I had imagined her would never EVER be able to date a pile of pixels as arrogant and domineering as the blonde. *dodges flaming arrows, rotten carrots, etc. thrown by raging Seifer fans* Umm, well you see, I see Fujin as kind of a dominatrix, and I don't think that she would just succumb to Seifer's equally domineering-ness. Yeeeeah...well, I figured that who better to date the raging Fujin than Raijin, her favorite human punching bag?!?!
Just kidding. It was a joke. It was just a little bit of something to lighten the mood. Really. Calm down already! I said it was a joke. Stop taking it so seriously. DROP IT, I SAID!!!
......sorry......
Anyway, I soon began to take time off from mindless fanfic/fanart gaping to actually think about the complicated love lives of certain video game characters. This is what I came up with in the end.
Why?
1.) The Saifuu relationship, in comparison to Raifuu, is much too common for my taste. Finding Saifuu is almost as easy as finding Squinoas, and I ended up with the same reaction. I see too much of it, and it gets boring. Finding Raifuu, on the other hand, is a difficult crusade.
2.) I've always liked the "AWW!!! She's beating the crap out of him!" relationships. (JessieXJames, Poke'mon/ BelleXDuke, Threads of Fate) I dunno why, but they're cute.
3.) That whole dominatrix thingy...I know I said to drop it, but now that I think about it......
4.) I make Raijin look GOOD. Shannon agrees with me! (that one was pointless, but hey.)
5.) Opposites attract, and you can't get more opposite than that.
6.) I don't see Raijin as being as dumb as most people portray him to be. I see him as more of the big, lovable oaf. A relationship between the two would be good for the both of them...She could calm him down a bit, while he can make her smile, even if it's not in public. AWWW. ^.^
7.) Against the "Fujin must love Seifer! Look at how she acts toward him in the game!" theory, I say one thing. Look at how she acts toward Seifer, then, look at her with Raijin. yes, I believe that Fujin cares for Seifer a great deal, but as a friend...maybe even family. But, if you really watch her with Raijin, she seems to try to hide something from the world when she's around him. Plus, she kicks him, and he takes it. He seems to know something about her that nobody else does; something deep down inside. I think the beatings are a kind of communication...painful, but communication none the less. It's sweet if you really look into it. Go ahead. next time you play FF8, watch those two. I SWEAR ther's something there.
8.) You know how Raijin says that Fujin can be scary sometimes? Many people use that statement to discount Raifuu. Guess what. Seifer downright FEARS Fujin. It's in the game, I swear! If you use a gameshark to put Fujin in your party during the Lunatic Pandora fight (I'll get that code up here eventually) and have her be the one to hit Raijin when he makes a comment about halfway through the fight, (for Squall, it is "Now I see why you're Seifer's rival, ya' know!"...or something like that) he will say "Now I see why Seifer fears ya, ya know"...the first time I saw that, I almost fell off of my bed laughing. Touche'.
9.) Lastly, Raijin sticks through Fujin through thick and thin. He trusts her, follows her, and respects her, even more so than Seifer. Seifer is Raijin's best friend. As far as I'm concerned, a step above true friendship is true love. Ain't it grand?
Oh...yeah...I almost forgot. For those of you who believe that Raijin and Fujin are brother and sister, I simply don't agree. There's really no other way I can say that. I don't see them as family, but as lovers, and if you want to be nasty about it, go ahead and send me flames trying to convince me other wise. I DARE ya. You won't win. If you don't want to be mean, you can throw me a line simply telling me your opinions. I like to see what people think, as long as it's not rude. If not, then just run along. That's it, shoo.
Well, I think that's it. If I forgot anything that you'd like to know, tell me in an e-mail.
