Tess Grotta Revealed

This is the section where I will reveal all of the secrets of the Tess Grotta universe. This is not finished, I am simply showing you guys how much I have so you can give me any thoughts or suggestions on this. More than likely this will be revised often. Please e-mail me with comments! Anyway, read on...

Before the Council of the Ages, there was chaos. There were no realms of any kind, only a vast expanse of space. There was a single, supreme being that ruled over the nothingness (I don’t have a name for him yet, so he is referred to as “the ruler”). This ruler was not born, but had simply always been there. He had the power to manipulate and create matter within his space. With this power, he created the Council of the Ages. The ruler appointed a chief to the Council, and the rest of the Council members (referred to as Ages) were to help the chief with his decisions. The ruler also created the first man, Terratur, whom he regarded as a son, and the first woman (nameless), that he regarded as a daughter. The ruler loved his son and daughter very much, and he granted them immortality (they were in fact immortal, but would die if killed; however the ruler was immortal also, but simply could not die). One day the daughter had a terrible accident, and she was killed. The ruler was heartbroken. He took her spirit and created the Earth, the Sun, and the surrounding Earthly realm for her spirit to reside in. Her spirit was a direct link to all other life in the Earthly realm. This was the creation of the Endurer. After he had mourned for his daughter, The ruler educated the Ages so that they could manipulate and create matter within the space as well, but still did not have as much power as the ruler. The beings of the Council he made mortal, so that they could be destroyed in case of corruption. The Council acted like a parliament for the ruler, who had wondrous plans for his space and the Earthly realm. The more the Ages learned, the more corrupt they became; and they longed to be the supreme rulers of the space. Because he could not be destroyed, the Ages captured the ruler, and placed him in a special bottle that could contain the ruler’s power. Terratur escaped to Earth before the Council could destroy him, and stayed there in hiding. He had stolen the bottle with the ruler in it. Terratur knew nothing about the bottle except that the ruler was in it, and he could not open it or break it. Furious, the Ages created the second woman to find Terratur and kill him. However, the Council could not create a woman that was immortal as the ruler’s daughter had been, so she was made mortal. The woman found Terratur and, unexpectedly, they fell in love; much to the Council’s disdain. Terratur and his wife remained in hiding on Earth from the Council, for they would both certainly be killed if discovered. It was during this time that they had many sons and daughters, thus creating the race of mankind. The Council continued to make the other realms during this time also. While in hiding, Terratur developed a technique where he could manipulate light energy into a blade, and called it a Claramina. He became very powerful with his Claramina, and the Council feared him. His many sons also became very powerful from his teachings. One dreary day, Terratur’s wife passed away. Terratur was not familiar with the concept of mortality, and he mistakenly thought the Council had assassinated her. Enraged and heartbroken, Terratur had his mind set on revenge. He stormed into the Council’s chamber with the strongest of his sons, and slaughtered the chief of the council. With their leader gone, the Council now had difficulty making intelligent decisions. The remaining Ages then decided to create a very powerful being, and sent it upon the Earth to destroy Terratur and mankind along with him. This was the birth of evil, and the Council named it Malus (This is not the same Malus that Feron will fight, rather this Malus is the original, and the one Feron will fight is a reincarnation of the original Malus.). The Council also created a separate realm for the evil, as a safe haven for it. Terratur had no choice but to flee from this new force, and he hid in all corners and crevices of the Earth, perfecting his skill with the Claramina. Now you know that Feron and Aurea’s Claramina is in the form of a spear type weapon. It doesn’t always have to be like that. A Claramina can take the form of a sword (as Terratur’s did), the tips of arrows, etc. In the far future beyond the time of Tess Grotta, the Protector will even be able to convert the Claramina into beams from a blaster gun. Ok, now back to Terratur. When he was strong enough, Terratur confronted Malus. Terratur and his Claramina defeated Malus, thus making Terratur the very first Protector of the Earthly realm (I will also have another name besides “the Protector” eventually). However, simply destroying the evil being did not get rid of evil altogether. Defeating Malus only put the evil into a dormant state. The evil being will eventually be reincarnated, simply in a different form; it is then the Watcher’s job to find the current Protector so the evil may be put into a dormant state once again. This cycle is never-ending. The evil will always be reincarnated, and the Protector will always have to vanquish the evil. However, if the evil were to defeat the Protector, the Earthly realm would be engulfed by evil, and the evil would grow stronger than at first was possible. The Earthly realm would remain under control of evil until a Protector strong enough to defeat the evil was found. Then the cycle would begin again.

Ok, so far I have mentioned the Endurer, the Protector, and the Watcher. I will explain what those are now. The Endurer is, in a way, the lifeblood of the Earthly realm. She is directly connected to all living things that exist on the Earth and in the Earthly realm. If she were to be destroyed, then all living things in the Earthly realm would perish, and the Earth would turn to a wasteland. She has the responsibility of “enduring” the life of the Earthly realm. The Endurer is an immortal spirit that has the power to take on a physical form. If destroyed in this physical form, she will cease to exist. The Protector is literally the protector of the Earthly realm. Because the Council created evil, then it is the Protector’s job to ensure that good reign throughout the Earthly realm. Terratur became the very first Protector when he vanquished the evil being for the first time. When evil was reincarnated again in the Earthly realm, a new Protector would rise to defeat it. All of the Protectors, except for Terratur, are mortal. After Terratur served as the first Protector, he then became the Watcher (I’ll come up with another name than that, but that’ll do for now). It is the Watcher’s job to watch over the Earthly realm, and make sure all is well. If evil arises, then it is the Watcher’s job to find the current Protector of the Earthly realm, train him, and assist him in his fight against evil. Terratur will remain as the Watcher until the end of time, unless he is killed. If Terratur were to be killed, then the current Protector of the Earthly realm would not be found, leaving the Earthly realm virtually defenseless against evil’s reincarnation. Then the evil would take control of the Earthly realm, and would continue to grow stronger until Terratur is reincarnated in a different form, and can take on the role of the Watcher once again. Even after Terratur returns, it is not guaranteed that the Protector will be able to defeat the evil, because it would have grown very powerful over time. So to sum things up, if any of the three die (Endurer, Protector, Watcher) than evil will control the Earth.

Now back to the Council of the Ages. Over time, the Council lost considerable power, through Ages being replaced and other matters, and now is simply a ruling body over all of the realms. Because of this, much of the original teachings of the very first ruler have been lost, and can never be obtained back. It is mainly responsible for keeping order in the realms, and enforcing the laws set down by the original ruler. It has command over an extremely powerful military force, which it uses to enforce these laws. Also over time, the Council had come to love mankind once again, and despise the evil it had created so long ago (remember the Ages change quite frequently, so none of the original Ages are still on the Council). Ages are also given the power to travel between the realms, a feat not possible by anyone but the Ages. Or so this was thought, until Somnia was born with her mysterious gift of unconsciously opening portals between the different realms. After Malus is not successful in preventing Somnia’s birth by killing her parents, the Ages banished Malus to the realm that was originally intended as a safe haven for evil (the Ages did not believe that Malus had prophetic talents, and thus did not take him seriously when he told them about the girl who could open portals between the realms). At that time it was unknown to them that Malus was the reincarnation of evil (Malus didn’t even know this himself, until he came to the dark realm. Before he was banished, he had a different name which I have yet to come up with). Malus was consumed by the dark realm, which simply made the evil reincarnation stronger than before, and also made his natural prophetic gift even more accurate than before. Malus was able to use his gift to accurately predict when and where the portal from Somnia would open a portal from the dark realm to the Earthly realm; and in this time he entered back into the Earthly realm with his army of evil beings. Cunningly, Malus was sure to capture Somnia and hold her in one of his strongholds on the Earth. He gave to her a mystical dress that would keep her asleep and give her nightmares while she wore it, keeping the portal constantly open for his convenience. Now because Malus had reappeared in the Earthly realm, the Council assumed that Malus had devised a way to travel between the realms (Remember that Malus used to be an Age, so he could travel between the realms at one point, so the Ages assumed that because Malus had been exposed at one time to the power of transportation between the realms, he had devised a different way to travel between the realms.). They had long ago rejected the idea that Somnia was producing the portals, so they did not even pay any attention to that, even though it was the truth.

Now Malus was very cunning, and developed a plan A and plan B for destroying the Earthly realm. Plan A was this: His army would launch an attack, searching for the Endurer. If found, they would destroy her, which would turn the Earthly realm to wasteland. His army of evil beings burned and ravaged villages and towns on their search for the Endurer. This is where Feron and Aurea come in. Terratur sends the two hero’s to locate the Endurer before Malus is able to, so they can protect her. However, Malus considers himself pressed for time, because eventually the Council is bound to figure out that it is actually Somnia producing the portals, and not himself. If the time factor proved to be a problem for him, he would move on to Plan B. Plan B involves Phase, the Charybdis, Feron, and Somnia. Phase has an experimental system installed into him that can “home in” on the natural energy that a realm gives off, and use it as a blaster weapon. It’s the same concept as a calculator using solar energy to function. It is a technology that was being devised in his home realm, the Ares realm, for war purposes. However, the main problem is finding an energy source large enough to fuel the reaction that must take place for it to work. It requires an enormous amount of energy. Feron does contain enough energy in her body to fuel this reaction, which Malus soon realizes after his army encounters Feron and Aurea. If Malus could capture Somnia and Feron, Phase would be able to neutralize Somnia’s gift, allowing him to open a portal to the realm where the Charybdis resides, with Feron’s energy fueling the reaction. The Charybdis is a massive, and I mean MASSIVE creature that is pretty much just a large filter feeder. It floats around it’s realm with it’s mouth open wide, and consumes all that might be in it’s way, just like a whale will do with plankton. The amount of energy that is in Feron could theoretically open a portal large enough to allow the Charybdis to enter the Earthly realm. Then it would simply be a matter of time before the Charybdis consumed the Earth. It would not be possible for Somnia alone to open a portal large enough to accommodate the size of the Charybdis. However, the majority of Plan B is entirely theoretical, which is why Malus does not want to resort to it.

Thinking better safe than sorry, Malus attempts to capture both Somnia and Feron as quickly as possible, so he has them at his disposal if Plan B becomes necessary. Catching Somnia proves to be no contest as I stated above. Capturing Feron is, obviously, a little bit harder. Malus puts a very hefty ransom on Feron, wanting her alive. This is when Gavin, Feron’s childhood friend, shows up. He plans to bring Feron to Malus; not necessarily for the money, but to gain favor with such a powerful man, who is likely to soon become the ruler of the Earthly realm.

However, while Feron and Aurea are searching for the Endurer, they encounter Malus’s stronghold where he is keeping Somnia captive. The two hero’s are able to infiltrate the fort, and discover Somnia sleeping in her mysterious dress. They rescue her and take her out of the fort, thus closing the portal, much to Malus’s disdain. However this is a minor setback for Malus, as his prophetic gift can pinpoint exactly when and where the portals will appear while Somnia is sleeping and having a nightmare (naturally, Somnia has to sleep sometime).

Malus had destroyed Somnia’s village when he captured her, so Feron and Aurea allowed her to stay with them, as she had nowhere to go. Later they would give Somnia to Terratur, in hopes he could help her to harness her gift and use it against Malus’s army.
