Just what IS Inu-Yasha? Well, I'll tell ya. Inu-Yasha is a manga/anime from the GREAT Rumiko Takahashi. Inu-Yasha is her latest work and is VERY popular in Japan. It currently has 21 manga Volumes (10 Chapters per volume) and over 30 anime episodes and still going! Inu-Yasha takes a dark/horror turn from Takahashi-san's previous works. It's about a girl named Kagome, who comes from the present time, who fell into the Bone-Eater's Well and then finds herself in Japan's Sengoku Jidai period. There, she encounters a Half-Youkai, Inu-Yasha, but at first things don't start out that good. It turns out that Kagome is actually the reincarnation of the girl that killed Inu-Yasha 50 years ago. She releases Inu-Yasha from his imprisonment and before she knows it she is pulled into this journey in search of the Shikon no Tama (Shikon Jewel), "Jewel of the Four Souls". As their adventure goes on they meet up with other interesting characters and enemies.
It's a great story. Anyone who is a fan of Takahashi-san's work should check it out. Heck, anyone who's a fan of anything should just check it out. It's sooooooo damn good! I would really like to see what Inu-Yasha and Kagome's relationship would turn up to be. Damn only if Kikyo wasn't in the way. ERRRR! Inu-Yasha has a whole lotta love triangles in it that it even gives Ranma 1/2 a run for it's money. But hey, Inu-Yasha isn't finished yet. Takahashi-san even said in an Animerica interview that Inu-Yasha won't end for a number of years. Hopefully, VIZ will decide on releasing Inu-Yasha here in the US more quickly.
