SPORTS DAY

The annual Shohoku High School Sports Meet was coming up soon. This year was special because Hanamichi Sakuragi had joined Shohoku^^. Thanks to Anzai-Sensei, Sakuragi was taking part in the meet.

"Hey!-Hana!" Youhei called, as the Sakuragi Gundan appeared. "I heard you're signing up for the sports meet! So what event are you participating in?"

"Hahaha...Ore wa Tensai!"-Sakuragi

"Let me guess....must be high jump right? since you're soooo good at catching rebounds."

"Haha...You're right!" -Sakuragi .

"see? I was right!"- Youhei .

"hmm... I think he's more suitable for running!" Another one of his friend said(I can't remember the name^^)

"You're Right!"-Sakuragi.

"see?"

"eh...are you taking part in both ?"

"Of coz! plus javelin and 100m-race, 200m-race, 800m race, and 4x100m relay!"-Sakuragi.

Eyes popped. Isn't that almost all the events?"

"hahahaha....afterall, I'm the....."-Sakuragi.

"TENSAI!" They all piped in.^^

*Sports Day*

"Bang". The gun went off. Sakuragi was well ahead of the others and needless to say,broke the record!
The same goes for the other events he took part in.
Finally-- the 4x100m relay.
They were even more surprised to see who else were taking part---- Ryota, Akagi, and..
..Rukawa!

"Shohoku Basketball Team! Yeahhhhh" Haruko cheered. Needless to say, the ever-present Rukawa Bridgade were screaming their heads off.

On the track, Sakuragi hmphed. *Why did that old man(Anzai sensei) ask the 3 bakas to take part too?~esp that stupid fox. he, the tensai, could run all the 4 rounds himself!, and to think that he was the last runner and Rukawa the 3th runner, which meant he had to take the baton passed to him by that fox! wonder if its contagious..*

"Bang."

Sakuragi watched as Ryota ran the fastest among the other runners.*hmph..compared to me, he's far off! haha...* Soon, Rukawa was running his round. As he neared, Sakuragi started jogging ahead, or rather racing ahead, since he was running way ahead of the 'start' point.... Rukawa closed up behind him but Sakuragi had already started running fast ahead. In the end, Rukawa had to run half the track to pass the baton to Sakuragi.

"You stupid fox. run so slow..." Sakuragi mocked.*hehe~*, not realising that he was the one at fault.

"What's Hana doing? Even if he doesn't like Rukawa- he don't have to..."

Suddenly, screams and sobs were heard, mainly from the Rukawa's Bridgade bench. They looked across the track- Rukawa was lying motionless in the middle of the track.

"Rukawa!"

Akagi and Ryota, upon seeing their mate on the ground, rushed over. Sakuragi stopped in his track and turned around, only to see the fox lying on the ground.

"Hey fox! Wake up!"

Akagi heaved up Rukawa. "Rukawa!" Sakuragi stopped and stared. Half of him was feeling guilty and half was worried. He (finally)felt that he was somewhat responsible for it.

Akagi carried up Rukawa and they rushed to the resting/medical room.

"He fainted." Ryota told the nurse.

The match was forgotten and Sakuragi followed after them.

'The match will be postponed for a while...' The announcement came.

*Inside the resting/medical room*

Ayako dabbed Rukawa's forehead with a damp cloth.

'how's he?"-Haruko.

"I think its probably heatstroke, plus he's running a fever."-Ayako.

*What? That fox has a fever? and he still took part in the match?*- Sakuragi thought. He instantly felt even more guilty for making Rukawa run extra distance when he was actualy sick.

"He's alright now. Just let him rest."- Ayako.

'I'll look after him." A voice piped.

They were astonished to see that it was Sakuragi.

'Are...are you serious?"- Ayako asked, afraid that Sakuragi might actually make use of the chance to murder Rukawa or god-knows-what.^^

"HMPH..."Sakuragi, annoyed," I will take care of him."

'Ok." and they left a little hesitantly. Haruko paused at the door, and after taking one last long look at Rukawa, left.

Sakuragi looked at Rukawa. *He's so pale...* Rukawa was still unconscious and his breathing shallow and weak. *and he looks so innocent*-Sakuragi thought. He had a sudden longing to hug him. Instead, he just held onto Rukawa's hand.

Just then, Rukawa awoke, and was surprised to see Sakuragi by his side, HOLDING HIS HAND!

"YOU'RE AWAKE!" -SAKURAGI. And he hugged Rukawa happily. Rukawa was momentarily stunned, but he smiled as he rested his head on Sakuragi's shoulder...*so nice to sleep on....*-Rukawa thought.
