The Cruelest Love in the World - Act 1: Separation
In the past stories, Kurama has made Hiei promise to keep coming to his bedroom for sexual activities (but not intercourse) in exchange for Yukina's life. The doujinshi opens up with Kurama pleasuring Hiei on his bed. Inside, however, Kurama is realizing that his desire for Hiei is becoming harder and harder for him to repress. He wants Hiei to love only him, and his violent fantasies betray his dark, demonic nature.
After the two are done and Hiei is getting dressed, Kurama tells Hiei that he no longer has to come to him anymore. Hiei looks at him in surprise, and Kurama assures him that no harm will come to Yukina. However, Hiei still says nothing. Kurama teasingly asks if Hiei "likes that thing I always do to you." Hiei flushes in shame and quickly makes his exit.
A few weeks later, Kurama mysteriously collapses while he's reading aloud in school. The doctor says that it's merely lack of sleep and orders Kurama to rest. Hiei, in the meantime, feels a burst of youki and rushes to find its source. He winds up in Kurama's room. The redhead is surprised and then vaguely mortified to see Hiei. He orders Hiei to go away, but before anything can happen, he suddenly collapses on top of Hiei. Within seconds, it is no longer Minamino Shuuichi in the room....but Youko Kurama.
Hiei stares in shock at the youko, who quickly flees out the window. Hiei pursues, demanding to know what happened to Kurama. Aloof and arrogant as ever, Youko Kurama declares that Minamino Shuuchi will be disappearing soon, but steadfastedly refuses to tell Hiei why. Of course, Hiei seizes the opportunity to beat the answer out of the demon and attacks Youko Kurama.
But the cold intellect of the age-old demon triumphs. He quickly summons vines that are capable of binding both Hiei's limbs and his youki, stopping him from using either his weapons or his Black Dragon. With the fire demon helpless, Youko Kurama decides that he might as well let Hiei know what is going on.
Apparently, Kurama could have chosen to merge with his youko half and produce a more powerful being when their youki combined. But instead, Kurama used all his power to try and seal the youko so the two could never become one, and thus repress Kurama's demonic nature. Only, Kurama's youki alone cannot contain his youko half...which is why Youko Kurama can wander freely from time to time.
The youko tells Hiei that what Kurama desires the most is him (Hiei), and that Kurama isn't as nice as Hiei thinks. Youko tells Hiei that Kurama fantasizes about raping him, degrading him, hurting him. The youko then proceeds to do a little "degrading" of his own, all the while telling Hiei, "...this is nothing compared to what he wants to do to you."
Youko sows a seed into the ground that will eventually grow larger and larger as it drains away Minamino Shuuichi's life. When Shuuichi is dead, Youko Kurama will finally exist all on his own. He puts a kekkai around the tree and seals Hiei in there, where Kurama will not be able to find him. And so Hiei becomes the youko's "spoil".....

And so begins Toshimi Arina-san's dark masterpiece. This angst-besotted story is the next installment in the arc after Dream Crime and A Space Closed in Secrecy 1 & 2.
