RACE: Namek

KNOWN RELATIVES: Piccolo Diamou ("Father", deceased); Kame (other half, fused with Piccolo)

HIS DEAL: The embodiment of the evil that once was part of Earth's guardian, Kame, and the fourth strongest fighter on Earth, Piccolo is a fierce individual. Though he is a strong fighter and loyal to his friends, Piccolo cannot be trusted entirely.

After he was born, Piccolo learned that his father was killed by a young fighter named Goku. Hunting him down, the two eventually met and fought several times after, either on the battlefield or in tournaments.

At the beginning of the DBZ saga, Goku and Piccolo teamed up temporarily to fight Goku's evil brother, the Saiya-Jin Radditz. It was during this battle that Piccolo accidentally killed Goku, who was holding Radditz down so Piccolo could kill him. Something about seeing Goku lifeless made him realize that Goku was a man to be respected. He then began training Goku's son, Gohan, in preparation for the battle against the Saiya-Jins.

In a later battle against Frieza, Piccolo merged with Nail, who protected Guru, the protector of Planet Namek, and achieved the status of Super Namek (though short-lived. Apparently, it was just a cheap gimmick).

Later still, Piccolo realized he wouldn't be able to defeat the Androids as he was. In an effort to save Earth, he fused with the Namek who he was "created" from, Kame. Unfortunately, this means there are no more Dragon Balls on Earth. Later, Piccolo came to aide the young Namek Dende, who came from Namek to be the Guardian of Earth and recreate the Dragon Balls.

After a day in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Piccolo flew out to participate in the Cell Games with the rest of the Z fighters. In the end, he wound up fighting Cell in an attempt to keep Gohan alive. Fortunatly, Vegeta's distraction allowed Gohan to save the day and kill Cell.

Recently, Piccolo flew to participate in the World Martial Arts Tournament with Goku, but was turned to stone when they were attacked by Dabura. He was, however, restored upon Dabura's defeat. Afterwards, he killed Babbidi and flew off, Goten and Trunks in tow, to escape the suicidal blast Vegeta used in an attempt to kill Buu. After Goku left to return to Other World, Piccolo stayed behind to train Goten and Trunks in the Fusion Technique, only to wind up being absorbed by Buu. Piccolo was freed by Goku and Vegeta, only to be caught in the blast which destroyed Earth.

CURRENT WHEREABOUTS: He's in the same boat as Gohan, but is it possible for him to return, or will Goku and Vegeta's defeat become his swan song?

TRANSFORMATIONS:

• SUPER-NAMEK--First seen in the Frieza Saga. Achieved through fusion with Nail; apparently a gimmick, as it was never regarded afterwards (may have only appeared in American translations) 

SPECIAL TECHNIQUES:

• ARM EXTENDER--Not really a special attack, and not used a lot. This move extends the arms of the fighter. Very good for long distance fighting.
• SPECIAL BEAM CANNON--Whipped up on a whim fighting Radditz, this attack is so powerful, Piccolo used it to destroy the moon! Unfortunatly, Piccolo needs 5 minutes to charge up for the attack.
• SCATTERSHOT--Creates a yellow ball of energy with a very explosive result. It can be guided with Piccolo's mind once created, so he can form a "floating mine field" so to speak.

BATTLES:

THE SAIYA-JIN SAGA

• VS. RADDITZ--When Radditz first arrived, Piccolo unsuccessfully fought the Saiya-Jin. It was when he returned with Goku that he defeated Radditz, at the expense of Goku's life.
• VS. NAPPA--It was during battle with Nappa that Piccolo was killed.

THE FRIEZA SAGA

• VS. FRIEZA--Piccolo was resurrected and made it to the battlefield to do battle with Frieza. He was mortally wounded in combat, then healed by Dende after being teleported to Earth.

THE ANDROID SAGA

• VS. ANDROID GERO--He was able to take Gero's arm, but it wasn't enough to kill him.
• VS. ANDROID 17--Just one kick…and Piccolo was down and out. This battle prompted him to fuse with Kame.
• VS. CELL(as Kame/Piccolo)--His arm was ruined, but he was able to regenerate it while Cell was busy talking.
• VS. ANDROID 17(as Kame/Piccolo)--It was pretty obvious that Kame/Piccolo was quite a bit stronger than 17. The battle was going really well, until Cell intervened.
• VS. CELL(as Kame/Piccolo)--Once Cell arrived on the scene, Piccolo powered up and dealt with him. Unfortunately, Cell absorbed 17, so Piccolo ended up fighting…
• VS. IMPERFECT CELL(as Kame/Piccolo)--This didn't last too long. Piccolo put up a good fight , but got a nice little hole blown in his chest. Though it didn't kill him, it did pretty much ended any chance he had of getting back in the fight.
• VS. PERFECT CELL(as Kame/Piccolo)--Not really a fight. When Gohan and Cell where in a stale mate using Kameamea Waves, Piccolo led the rest of the Z fighters to attack Cell from behind, hoping to save Gohan. Piccolo and the rest kept getting up until Cell finally overwhelmed them. Fortunately, Vegeta's distraction gave Gohan the oppurtunity to blow away the bugger.

THE MAJIN BUU SAGA (note: Piccolo and Kame are still fused during this saga)

• VS. DABURA--Not really a battle. Was turned to stone by Dabura's spit. Restored upon Dabura's demise at the hands of Majin Buu.
• VS. BABBIDI--After learning that Gohan may be dead, Piccolo lashed out and killed Babbidi by chopping him in half. However, Babbidi was later restored by Majin Buu.
