The Star Cards are the Clow Cards, only they have been transformed to feed off of Sakura's powers. The transformations began after the Final Judgement. The only way for Sakura to use the Clow Cards was to transform them before they were freed and created chaos. The new card: The Hope, was created when Void merged with the Nameless card that Sakura created with her tears.
