Guadalajara is a city of monuments, parks and flowers, fountains and tree lined avenues. A city alive with subtle attractions that can keep the first time visitor entertained for weeks. Guadalajara's history dates to the 16th century and the rich heritage of México's colonial gem is evident everywhere you look.
Traditions
The Guadalajara area is known as the birthplace of the world famous Mariachi bands and also as the home of the Mexican hat dance. Nearby is the town of Tequila, everyone knows or should be able to guess, what this town is famous for. The area around Guadalajara is mainly known for the Mexican craftsmen that turn out countless handmade items that are treasured the world over.
Attractions In Guadalajara
Guadalajara's month-long October Festival attracts visitors from all over the world and performers from all over México for a wide variety of music, cultural, museums and artistic events and crafts exhibits. Other attraction include going to watch a soccer game from their three home teams. This teams include las chivas, el atlas, and la uag, which is the team of the famous local and international university with the same name. Of course the most famous team is las chivas, not only in guadalajara but in whole country of Mexico and in some part of the US where there are a lot of mexicans. You could also go see bullfights at the plaza de toros. El zoologico of Guadais another major attraction. Zoologico Guadalajara is a must for any visitor! This modern zoo was opened in 1988. It is much more than just an animal exhibition facility. It is also an important an ecological center, which aids the reproduction and preservation of various endangered species. It is impossible to see everything on the first visit. Guadalajara Zoo is actually part of a group of attractions including the Planetarium, Huentitan Park and the "Selva Mágica" entertainment center.

If you stay in Guadalajara and you want to attend an university, you should attend the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. This university is known world wide as one of the tops univerversities. It has almost every career and field you can think of. This is where I plan to go after HEALD COLLEGE.
