Chapter 6*~

“What’s up A?” I said as I walked into the kitchen the next morning. It was just me and Adriana for the day. Dana was at school and then would be going home with a friend and Aaliyah was taking Drew with her to the office to keep her company. She smiled and sat down at the counter.

“Nothin, just hanging around.” Adriana said and pushed her hair over her shoulder. “Li told me to tell you that your mother called this morning and to make sure you call her later.”

“Aight thanks.” I stretched slightly and looked down in my bowl of cheerios. “Are you doing anything today?”

“Nope, well other than annoying you obviously.”

“Oh lucky me.” I looked at her and smiled. “Well what do you want to do?” She looked at me and grinned. Damn that grin. Sure I knew it. She had only gave me that look four years ago. Was our consciences on vacation or what? Didn’t we even feel partially bad? I guess not but then again I think celebrities don’t have much of a conscience.

~*11:00 p.m.*~

I sat up; waiting for her to get home. She was supposed to be back home around seven. I was beginning to get worried. Usually she would at least call me to let me know if she would be late but this time it was different. I turned at the sound of a door and was able to catch a glimpse of her through the dark. “Have you ever thought about calling?”

“I’m sorry...” She looked at him with tears in her eyes.

I looked at her. Feeling all the anger inside of me dissipate. I couldn’t understand what was going on. I watched as she sat her purse down and I walked towards her. “Where’s Drew?”

“With your mother. She got him at seven or so...”

“What’s wrong? Why are you crying?” I could here her crying. I walked up to her. It was dark. You couldn’t see much. I reached for the light switch and turned it on; looking at her in dismay. “What happened?” Her arms were red with marks on her arms and I looked at her forehead that was covered in blood. I pulled her close enough to look through her hair and found a big gash. I watched as she started crying harder than ever. “Who did this to you?”

“I don’t....I was just....and they took me...and I tried to get away but...” Aaliyah said in between tears.

“Did you get help did you call the police?” I watched her shake her head and looked at her. “Why not? Liyah look at me. Do you know who did this to you?”

“No, and I couldn’t go to the police. They would kill me.”

“Who would want to kill...you...that bitch.” I looked at her and grabbed my coat. “Stay here. Adriana is upstairs. Wake her up. I’ll be back.”

            “Where are you going?”

“That’s for me to know. You’ll later find out.”

“Justin wait!” I heard her yell and I just ignored it. She no longer could be ignored. Every time something happened I knew it was her. She lived to make my life miserable and the life of anyone who knew me also. It was always my word against hers and just to show you how bad she is, my word always wins. “Karen...”
