Point of View Notes

I. Point of View--vantage point or perspective from which a story is told.

II. Types of P.O.V.
A. 1st Person --Narrator or character tells the story in his or her own words.Reader only knows what what narrator knows. Uses "I," "We."

B. Third Person Limited --Narrattor focuses on thoughts feelings and experiences of one character. Uses He, she, they, them

C. Omniscient or "all knowing"--the narrator can reveal what all characters think or feel.

III. A writer's point of view determines how much the narrator can reveal to the reader.
