Martin is popularly believed to be the best man-marker in the premiership, and is also a fantastic tackler. He has won many England call up's and some are surprised he is not a current England regular along-side team mate Tony Adams.
Sold for just £125 000 because a new contract could not be agreed, and then bought back for £2 000 000! It has certainly been worth it as Martin is an esential part of our Defence today, and a relative youngster compared to the veterans, Dixon, Winterburn, and Seaman!
