History: (Martian Manhunter II #13-16) - Actor Richard Destine changed careers, becoming a space pirate and captain of the Kharma and adopting the name Captain Destiny. Destiny and his crew were hired by Cabal to kill Jemm and Princess Cha’Rissa. The Saturnians were arranged to be married to bring peace to the Red and White Saturnians, and Cabal wanted the Reds and Whites to remain at odds. Destiny and his crew located the Saturnian starship Va’Jacoth and demanded Jemm and Cha’Rissa to board their ship, but Jemm was recovering from past injuries, and his ally Martian Manhunter shapeshifted to look like Jemm and joined Cha’Rissa in boarding the Kharma. Destiny ordered his crew to kill them, but Manhunter mentally persuaded him to take back his order, put them in a cell, and demand more money from Cabal. Manhunter caused havoc aboard the ship, even impersonating Destiny. Destiny was outraged that someone took his face and he fought Manhunter, accidentally destroying the Kharma’s control center in the process. The timing was poor because White Saturnian Commander Synn arrived to destroy Destiny’s ship, claiming he’d killed Jemm and Cha’Rissa. In truth she was one of the Saturnians trying to kill the peace treaty. Manhunter melded with the Kharma long enough to save it and force Synn to stop firing. Synn boarded the ship and wanted to kill Destiny and his crew, but Manhunter made sure they were spared so they could be questioned. Destiny told Manhunter about the Cabal, and Manhunter posed as Destiny to draw it out, knowing Cabal wanted Destiny silenced. Later Manhunter approached Destiny and his crew and offered them a pardon if they helped defeat the militant Saturnians. Destiny and company backed up Manhunter, allowing him to defeat Cabal while they restrained the other Saturnians. Destiny flew Manhunter back to Earth and then returned to space.
