History: (Impulse #7) - Girdler planned Technodyne's construction of a monorail in Manchester. The city took back its' permit at the orders of Cliff Burdett from the Department of Transportation, and the project was cancelled. To cut its losses Technodyne fired a number of employees, including Girdler. He'd been tinkering around with his own inventions on company time, and used them to create the supervillain persona of Gridlock. He vowed revenge because his life went downhill after being fired, so he destroyed Technodyne's construction machine prototype, the Konstruktor 3000. To ruin Burdett's chances at being mayor he created citywide gridlock in Manchester, preventing people from going to the polls. Gridlock was defeated by Impulse, but he succeeded in costing Burdett the election.
