LEAGUE OF CHALLENGER-HATERS
Membership: Drabny, Kra, Multi-Man, Multi-Woman II, Volcano Man
Base of Operations: Subterranean Headquarters
First Appearance: Challengers of the Unknown #42 (February-March 1965 )
History: (Challengers of the Unknown #42)-After being exiled to Earth, the robot king Kra decided to get even with his old enemies the Challengers of the Unknown. He assembled former Challenger foes Drabny, Multi-Man and Volcano Man to form the League of Challenger-Haters. After setting up an underground lair (complete with a cheery "Death to the Challengers!" poster) they set out to divide and conquor their foes. This plan proved disasterous, and the League of Challenger-Haters were routed. The Challengers then set them up in prison cells in the heart of a volcano and left them to rot.
(Challengers of the Unknown #45)-Unbeknownst to the Challengers Multi-Man had a false tooth containing an electronic device, and he used it to summon his robotic creation Multi-Woman II. The newly-freed Challenger-Haters were all enamored with their new member, and they consented to make Multi-Man their new leader. Multi-Man concieved an elaborate scheme to trap the Challengers. They used a refrigerator plant to freeze a small valley, and broadcast fake TV bulletins claiming the entire world had entered a new ice age. When the Challengers investigated they were met by a group of robotic dragons that trapped them in a cave-in. Prof. rewired the robots and used them to dig free. The Challenger-Haters were amazed that their idiotic plan failed, and they once again found themselves imprisoned.
(Challengers of the Unknown #48)-Multi-Man engineered a group of infectious mechanical bunnies he called Chemo-Vooids, and sicced them on the Challengers the next time they checked on their prisoners. The Challenger-Haters assumed their arch-foes had perished at the paws of the Chemo-Vooids, so they set their sights on world conquest. They sunk a number of ships, and used the cargo to build their own underwater city. This plan fell apart when the Challenger-Haters were confronted by both the Challengers and the Doom Patrol. They fled and Multi-Man booby-trapped their underwater city with a bomb. Unfortunately Drabny triggered the bomb and blew himself up. The Challenger-Haters mourned for a total of three seconds before running far, far away.
