Anguish and Nancy Agness McCloud, of Iredell County North Carolina. They came to Tennessee prior to 1815. They lived on a farm.
Anguish was born during the early 1770's. The 1790 Federal census of Iredell CO, NC has him listed as head of household, no others listed in the household.
Birth and death records began in NC in 1913. We are unable to find marriage records of Anguish and Agness. They moved to Cannon CO, TN prior to 1815.
Records were found where Anguish was a witness to a will of Sara Clayton which was written on 30 Oct. 1800. Also found was a will of Samuel McLeod dated 10 April 1804, which was probated on 16 May 1804. Iredel WB I, page 161, he named the following heirs, brothers Robert and John Anguish and his sisters daughter Jenny McIntosh. No death or burial records of Anguish have been found, we assume that he died and is buried in Cannon CO, TN in July 1844.
In the 1840 census Angusih was listed as being between 70 and 80 years old. Agness is between 60 and 70 years of age. Thomas Cook McLoud is listed as living next door, and Robert L. Fagan was listed as a neighbor of Anguish.
Robert L. Fagan died in Madison CO, AR in 1863. Martha "Patsey" Fagan is buried in Row 3 of the center section at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, AR.
A will dated 28 Aug. 1840 is found on page 37 in the Cannon CO, TN will book "A". It states that he directs that his funeral expenses and all debts be paid as soon after his death as possible out of any monies he may have. That all things and belongings to be left to his wife Agness McCloud. These things are all his horses, cattle, sheep, hogs, farming tools and personal estate. After his wife decease's they are to all go to his son Thomas Cook McCloud. This will was sealed on the 28th day of Aug. 1840.
In the 1850 Cannon Census, TN, Thomas Cook McLoud is listed as 35 years old. Sarah Jane as 34, with several children, including Nancy Agness McCloud age 64, as living in the household. Nancy Agness, Thomas Cook and Sarah Jane McLoud, Robert and Patsey Fagan all moved to Madison CO, AR in the 1850's. Nancy Agness maiden name was possibly Cook.

No records of any other children could be found in Cannon CO, TN, so as of this day we only show they had one child. However, some believe that there was a son name Joseph McCloud, whom Joseph Kansas McLoud was named for.
1st child of Anguish and Nancy Agness McCloud. He was born in 1816 in TN. Thomas Cook died 2 Aug., 1864 at the age of 48. He was killed by bushwhacker's during the Civil War. Thomas Cook is buried on the family farm at the McLoud Cemetery, his grave is marked by a field stone with no inscription. Tradition holds the Assailants entered the house and destroyed some things, then stole the horses and shot our ancestor while he was standing in the front yard. Tradition also holds that he knew his murderers and for what it is worth after 130 years, he named some of the Vaughn family as the culprits before he died. Sarah refused to let the family men go after the bushwhackers saying "there has been too much killing already".
Thomas Cook married in Rutherford CO, TN around 9 July 1835 to Sarah Jane Fagan. Sarah was born in 1816 in TN and grew up next to the McLoud's. She died July 1880 in Madison CO, AR, she is also buried on the farm at the McLoud Settlement, now known as the McLoud Cemetery. Sarah's grave is marked only by a fieldstone with no inscription. She is the d/o Robert L. and Patsey (Gibson) Fagan. Robert and Patsey married 2 Jan. 1816 in Rutherford CO, TN. Sarah was about 19 years old when she married Thomas Cook.
Sarah survived having 4 son's in the Civil War and witnessing her husband being murdered in the front yard by people they knew.
According to Nelson McLoud, Sarah smoked a corn cob pipe and chewed tobacco. She carded and spun wool, on the spinning wheel she made material for clothes, etc., that the family needed. According to sources the spinning wheel was sold sometime after her death, heirs couldn't decide to whom it should go to.
They possibly moved to AR in 1856 from Vadisville, Cannon CO, AR, near the War Eagle River which was settled by Thomas Cook, and is otherwise known as the McLoud Settlement.

Sarah Jane lived on the farm after Thomas Cook's death. Later the farm was taken over by Mores E. "Barney" McLoud. The AR Land Patent states that on 6 Dec. 1890 that he took title to the homestead.
Four of Thomas Cook and Sara Jane's sons fought in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. The sons were: Robert Anguish, Rufus Doren, Thomas Cook, Jr., and William Burton.
Robert Angusih was a Sergeant in Company F of the 23rd Regular Infantry Artillery. He was released in April of 1865 and drew a pension until his death in 1823. Rufus Doren was a member of Co. I of the 27th AR Regiment. He fought from 1862 until 1865. Thomas Cook Jr. fought in the same company as his brother Rufus D. William Burton, also fought in the war, receiving wounds from which he never fully recovered and died shortly after the war ended. No value can be placed on the contributions of this family to American history.

McLoud. Nancy was born 02 Aug. 1836 in
Cannon CO, TN. According to sources she died
in 1893 suddenly while she was ironing.
Possibly a heart attact. Burial place is
unknown. Nancy married 18 Oct 1854 in Cannon
CO, TN to Samuel M. Patton. Samuel
was born 14 Feb. 1819 and died 8 Dec. 1886.
Samuel is buried in a small cemetery 1/2 mile
N.E. of Bradyville, TN on a place known
locally as the old "Elvie Shelton Farms". He
is the son of David and Jemima (Overton)
Patton.
Samuel was a prosperous Miller
near Bradyville, TN. His property valued at
$3,000.00.

1.1: Jemima Patton: The 1st child of Nancy Jane (McLoud) and Samuel Patton. Born in 1857. According to the 1880 Census, she was listed as a teacher.
1.2: Morgan Patton: 2nd child of Nancy Jane (McLoud) and Samuel Patton. He was born 30 Nov. 1862 and died 1 July 1935. Morgan took over the mill after his father's death. He married Elizabeth Williams. She was born 17 March 1880. Morgan is listed on the school books as being on the Board of Education of the Bradyville Schools in 1922. This is mentioned in a book published in 1990 and is available from the Woodbury Bank. He is buried in the Thyatira Church Cemetery. Elizabeth died 29 Aug. 1969, she is also buried at the Thyatira Church Cemetery.

ANGUISH MCLOUD:
2nd child and first son of Thomas Cook, Sr.
and Nancy Jane (Fagan) McLoud. He was born
July 19, 1840 in Cannon CO, TN. Robert died
17 April 1923 in Berryville, Carroll CO, AR.
he is buried at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery
in Carroll CO, AR.
Robert was 15 when he
came to Madison CO. with his family. He
enlisted in the Confederate Army on 12 July
1862 and fought in the Civil War. He became
sergeant in CO I of the 23rd AR Regiment. He
was released the spring of 1865. Veteran No.
16627, and he drew a pension from 8 Aug. 1912
until his death.
Robert married Martha
Higgins around 1869. Martha was born in
TN in 1838. She had female problems, which
were not treated correctly, and she died at
an Asylum in Little Rock, AR sometime before
1900. No one knows when she died or where
she is buried.
Robert left a will,
recorded in Book A, pg. 389 (1870-1930) in
Berryville, AR. The will was last written 20
March 1911. Witnessed by J.P. Fancher and
S.M. Johnson and was proved on 26 March
1923.
The general provisions of the will
are that his funeral expenses be paid, that
John is to be paid $50.00 by the executor and
that Robert is to receive the land.
This
was a bequest and gift to Robert Edward and
in exchange, he was to furnish Robert Anguish
a room in the residence on said farm of which
he has possession and care for him and
support him properly in way of provisions and
board, and to pay Robert Anguish $50.00 per
year at the end of each year in cash as long
as he lived. Upon his failure to comply
witht he conditions, the land will herein
bequeathed to him will and shall revert back
to Robert Anguish Estate.

the SW1/4, S23 (80 acres) and the N part of
the NE1/4 of the NE1/4 S27 (915 acres), all

Before the 1880 census
Robert Anguish moved his family to Carroll CO
and lived on a farm in the Pleasant Valley
community located 2-3 miles west of
Berryville, AR. during retirement Robert
Anguish remained at home. His son "Ed" lived
with him. He stayed mostly in his large
comfortable room. He enjoyed reading and
telling stories to his
grandchildren.

Springs, AR. John died of a stroke on 11
June 1936. He married 18 Nov. 1886 in
Carroll CO, AR to Mary Alice Gentry.
Mary was born 19 May 1867 in Fairfax, OK and
died 24 Sept. 1961 in Fairfax, OK of a
stroke. She is the daughter of John
Martin and Mary Emaline (Bussey) Gentry..
According to the 1890 tax records in Carroll
CO, they owned one horse valued at $50.00,
two mules valued at $150.00, nine head of
hogs valued at $20.00. John had a gold and
silver watch valued at $10.00, other personal
property valued $50.00.
John served one
term as County Clerk of Carroll CO in
1904-1906. He moved his family by train to
Fairfax, Osage CO, OK in 1909. He taught at
a Catholic Boarding School for boys. This
school was located 15-20 miles NE of Fairfax.
In 1910 they moved to a ranch until autumn,
when they moved to a new school in the
village. John taught Indians and
whites.

"Ed" was a
Methodist Circuit-riding preacher, a farmer,
a teacher at Walnut Grove and possibly Shady
Grove school and was one of the rural mail
carriers for the Berryville Post
Office.
He married on 10 May 1894 in
Berryville, AR to Rosa Lee Smith.
Rosa was born in Marshall City, TN on 4 June
1874 and died 26 Aug. 1932. Rosa was buried
in the Berryville Memorial Cemetery on 28
Aug. 1932, block 1-298, row 9, plot 8, grave
7. She was the daughter of Enoch H. and
Mary E. Smith.
According to the
"Carroll County Historical Quarterly" June
1967, pg 7. Ed was the first ruarl Free
Delivery mailman in Carroll CO. There were
at least 8 applicants and Ed was the one
chosen. A picture of him and the mail buggy
also appears in the Quarterly. This picture
was taken 3 Feb. 1921. His route was #2 and
he had 100 patrons. He continued to carry
the mail until 1929 when his health forced
him into retirement. Before his retirement
one day while running his mail route, his
team of horses met an automobile. The horses
became frightened at the sight and noise and
stampeded. Ed was thrown against a tree,
which caused his back injury.
Ed was a
stern and solemn man. He developed
tuberculosis and also had a hip injury. He
and Rosa lived on his father's farm west of
Berryville until they sold the farm in 1929.
They then moved into Berryville, AR. Rosa
had Chronic Bronchitis.

in Cassville, Missouri on 28 July 1932 to
Raymond Crow. Thelma met Raymond at a
pie supper at the Walker schoolhouse, he took
her home on a horse. Raymond was born on 9
April 1910 in Marble, AR. He is the son of
Jeff Crow. Raymond died on 12 March
1994. He owned and operated the Crow Motor
Company.
The Crow farm was just across
Kings River from the McLoud farm. Thelma and
Raymond lived in Berryville, AR with her
father until 1943 when they moved across the
street from the Crow Motor Company.
The
Crow Motor Company did not exist until after
W.W. II. In 1943 when Raymond and Thelma
moved, Raymond built the building for the
Crow Motor Company, this was after he
returned from duty as a Merchant Marine. The
tornado of 1942 destroyed their home above
the present day Methodist Church.

about this, after Margaret Ann's death Thomas
moved to the Alabam Community.
Thomas
served in the Confederate Army during the
Civil War, Vet #7067, Company I of the 27th
Infantry Regiment, from 1864-1865. He
applied for a pension in Madison CO on 6 Aug.
1909. Their farm was located due north and
across the road from his brother J.K. McLoud,
and due east of the first McLoud
house.

Julie married
A. L. Hamilton. A legal record was
found involving Julie for a land transaction
between her father and A.L. This is recorded
in Book V, page 383. Thomas sold land to
them for $300.00 on 12 July 1899. The legal
description was the NE 1/4 of the NW 1/4, S4,
Township 17W, R26W for 65 acres. According
to tradition, A.L. and Julie lived on the
family farm. A.L. persuaded Julie's father
to sign the deed for the place. When Julie's
brothers heard about it, they paid a visit to
A.L. and forced him to sign the deeds back to
Thomas Cook. In Boox X, page 355 A.L. sold
the land back to Thomas Cook for $300.00. 3
months later on 20 Oct. 1899, A.L. left
Julie.
Julie and A.L. are suppose to have
a son, George Hamilton, but there is no
record of this and some relatives do not
recall him. Supposedly, when A.L. left he
took the son with him.
Tradition also
holds that while Julie was working in
Sapulpa, OK, she met and married in March of
1910 to Tony Estes. They had one
child Fannie, and after she was born Tony
left Julie. They divorced in 1912 and Julie
returned home to live with her
parents.
Julie worked as a cook for the
Big Piney Lumber Mill and had a son by
David D. Marshall. David was born 22
May 1878 and is the son of Thomas F. and
Sarah A. Marhsall
Julie later met and
married on 6 June 1924 to James "Jim"
Harp and moved to the Rockhouse Community
in northern Madison CO. The children went to
Cedar Grove school which was located on the
Clyde Pinkley and Harley Mason farms. In
1930 Julie and Jim moved to Mannford,
OK.
Jim was reported as a mean, cruel and
violent man. Jim died in OK in 1941. Julie
moved to CA to live with her son,
Fred.
Tradition also indicates that Julie
married another man or had four daughters by
another man who has yet to be identified.
According to stories, the man left one day,
taking the four girls with him.

Bob and Fanny
lived with her mom for about a year in
Manford, OK. They settled in the Winona
community of Carroll CO, AR on the top of the
hill above and across the road from the
Winona Church. They retired to Eureka
Springs, AR.
Fanny's step-father was Bob's
uncle. After Bob died, Fanny moved to Tulsa,
OK with one of her children. Fanny and Bob
are both buried at the Marshall Cemetery in
Forum, AR.

Martha had
a son from a previous marriage, Chester
Ames. Chester was born in 1902 and died
in 1907. Martha's first husband was
George Nottingham. George was born 15
Oct. 1912 in Van Buren, AR. George
disappeared from a train coming home from
picking cotton in Van Buren, AR. They
thought something had happen to him, and then
later she received a letter from him and
threw it in the fire. Martha never revealed
what was in this letter. When they lived with
their grandma Ames, her son accidentally shot
himself. Grandma Ames kept a pistol beneath
her pillow.
John Rufus and Martha lived
with John's younger brother, Perry "Dutch"
McLoud, on his farm near Marshall Cemetery at
Forum, AR. Later Grandma Ames, John, Martha,
Baby Bertha, and Georginan Nottingham also
lived with "Dutch". Rufus was doing WPA
work. For some reason grandma Ames couldn't
stay with them. She moved and lived with her
daughter, Bell and Belle's husband Harley
White. She remained with them until she died
in 1939.

Dutch was in the Army during WWI. He came
home to Forum, AR where he lived his entire
life. He was a member of the Forum Church of
Christ where he was baptized on 9 Oct. 1927
by William Weatherage. he was a member of
the Alabam Independent Order of Oddfellows
Lodge #558 as early as 1925. Dutch never
married.
He is buried at the Marshall
Cemetery in Forum, AR. Dutch donated some of
his land for this cemetery. He lived close
by the cemetery for many years. He wanted to
be buried in the far corner of the cemetery
where there was a sassafras growing, that
tree still stands 5 Nov. 1998.

in Pawnee, Pawnee CO, OK, d/o Franco and Frantiska (Stanek) Sedlacek. Terecia died 9 Oct.
1989 in Springdale, AR of pneumonia after a
broken hip. She is buried in the Marshall
Cemetery at Forum, AR.

Paul was in the Army
during WW II. He was wounded on Okinawa and
received the Purple Heart. He bought a farm
on Kings River in Berryville, Carroll CO, AR,
when he returned home from the war. He has
lived there since.
Paul was a carpenter
and a master plumber. He owned his own
plumbing company "McLoud Plumbing" for many
years in Berryville.
12 April 1945, the worst disaster to hit in Madison County History. A tornado occured the day President Franklin Roosevelt died. The tornado crossed the county from Crosses to Marble AR on a Thurs. evening. 10 people were killed. Buildings, business property, schools, churches, farm land and homes were destroyed. Farm animals were killed and many people were injured. The tornado came from Reed's Creek over Big Sandy Mountain and down Big Onion Branch, before reaching King's River and Marble. The tornado turned NE up a hollow and on towards Dry Fork and Metalton. A small building occupied by Elsie was partially destroyed, but she was away from home at the time the tornado struck.

3rd child of Marvin and Trecia (Sedlacek) McLoud. She was born 17 July 1924, and married in Jan. 1946 to Dellman Smith, born 26 Sept. 1922, Marble, Arkansas. Died 30 Nov. 2001, at the age of 79 in Springdale, Arkansas from cancer. He is buried at the Fairview Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Virginia grew up in the Alabam Community and went to school wat Alabam with her brothers Burl, Paul and sister Rosalie during the WW II years. She moved to Tulsa, OK and worked at Mcdonald-Douglas Aircraft as a riveter. After she married and moved to Fayetteville, AR, she worked at the Bates Elemetary School in the lunch room. She later became manager at Fayetteville High School where she was working until her untimely death of cancer.
Virginia died 30 May 1976 of cancer and is buried at the Fairview Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR.
Dellman was a Navy veteran of WWII, serving as a machinist’s mate first class, and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. Member of the Arkansas Trappers Association, and a 39 year member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He worked for Royal Typewriter Co, the US Postal Service and He retired in 1987 as a construction superintendent of James Constuction Company.

John was born 27 March 1920 at Marble, AR and is the s/o Alex and Byanah Wall. John suffered a stroke in 1988 and died of cancer Aug. 1991. He is buried at the Marshall Cemetery in Forum, AR.
Rosalie went to the Alabam school then to Huntsville State Vocational School. Her freshman year she had to stay in town with Donna and Hill Everett (her school teacher), because there were no buses. She baby-sat and cleaned house for them to pay for her board. The next year she was able to stay home, the bus stop was about 2 miles away, so she walked to the bus stop every morning and evening.
In 1945 after graduating, she took a teachers course and got her teaching certificate and taught school in 1945-1945 at the Crossroads School. She worked for many years in a garment factory in Bentonville, AR. When it closed she worked for Walmart, where she retired. At the age of 70, she is still working at an Elementary school in the lunchroom.

Bob married Wanda Wagley. Wanda was born 4 July. Bob had no children of his own. Wanda had 5. Bob lived most of his life in Huntsville and Fayetteville, AR. He went to Huntsville High School, where he was a member of the FFA and the Huntsville Eagle football team. Bob graduated in 1949.
He served 4 years in the Navy, and was injured while serving on a hospital ship during the Korean War, (the USS Constellation).
He lived about the last 14 years of his life in San Antonio, TX and buried at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, QM3 Plot 10 01329 in San Antonio, TX.
Bob worked as a clerk at Speedway. Owned a grocery store in Springdale, AR for 2 or 3 years, prior to moving to TX in 1980 where he worked for 7-11.

Fred owned his own business, Laney Business Machines, which still bears his name. He is buried at the Baptist Ford Cemetery in Greenland, AR. Fred was a Deacon at the Baldwin Church of Christ in Baldwin, AR. He served in the Army and fought in the Korean War.
Joyce went to Cedar Bluff grade school and graduated from Huntsville High School in 1952. She attended Nursing School in Little Rock, AR at the Arkansas Baptist Hospital School of Nurshing and attended Little Rock Jr College. She graduated in 1956. She worked in Amarillo and Lubbock, TX, also at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville, AR. She retired in 1994, after 21 years at the University Health Center in Fayetteville, AR.
She is a member of the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society, a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Drives. A 30 year member of the Butterfield Extension Homemakers club. Joyce is also a member of the Baldwin Church of Christ in Baldwin, AR.

Florence's mother Margaret Ann died 12 April 1882, 2 days after Florence was born. Wichita, KS. Married 10 Aug. 1913 to W.L. "Willy" Taylor. They lived for many years in Wichita, KS.

5th child of Thomas Cook, Sr and Sara Jane (Fagan) McLoud. He was born 14 Feb. 1847 in TN and died 17 Oct. 1917 at the McLoud Settlement in AR. "Rufe" is buried at the McLoud Cemetery. He was 47 years old when he married Fannie, and Fannie was 15 years old. He was a member of the Forum Church of Christ. Rufus married Fannie Elizabeth Bryant. They lived in a 2 room log cabin on the old home place.
Fannie was born in 1879 and died in 1966. After Rufus died, Fannie applied for a pension on 8 Aug. 1919, but was denied because she had remarried on 22 Jan. 1932 to Julias Dudgeon. Julias was born in 1875 and died in 1946. Fannie and Julias continue to live on the home place. Julias was a Church of Christ Minister. He is the s/o Mary (Dudgeon) Nelson, who is the mother of Flavel McLoud. When Julias died Fannie continue to live there and help Leepha raise his children.
Fannie and Julias are buried in the Marshall Cemetery in Forum, AR. They were also members of the Forum Church of Christ.
Rufus served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, Vet #7088, CO I Reg 27, Div ARKI, 1863-1986 PVT/PVT.
Fannie was a midwife and was brought in by all the doctors when there was a problem. She delivered all of Everett's children except for Faye. Once Fannie saved a child that the doctor thought was dead by placing it in a snowbank.

2nd child of Rufus and Fannie (Bryant)McLoud. He was born 6 June 1908 and died in March 1984, at the old family farm of Thomas Cook McLoud. Married 14 Sept. 1930 to Minnie Litterell. Minnie was born 5 May 1914 and died 29 Dec. 1995. Minnie was the d/o Benjamin Harris and Lula Mae (Smith) Littrell.
Leepha and Minnie were both members of the Forum Church of Christ. They are buried in the Marshall Cemetery in Forum, AR.
He was a Navy Veteran and served in WW II. Minnie married in 1989 to John Goucher, b. 5 Jan. 1910 in Huntsville, AR. s/o W.R. and Zona (Carter) Goucher. He was a farmer and a member of the Cedar Bluff Church of Christ. d. 7 Nov., 200 at his home at the age of 90, and is buried at the Alabam Cemetery.

The 6th child of Thomas Cook and
Margaret (Cannaday) McLoud. He was born 9 Feb. 1849 in Cannon County, TN. Barney
died 3 May 1926 at the age of 77. He is buried at the McLoud Cemetery, his grave is
unmarked with a fieldstone. The AR Land Patent, states that in Dec. 1890, Doc. #7263
and 9683, Thomas Cook and Sarah Jane McLoud, Barney took title to Part #33 1 ESE
SWT 17 N R26W and part of #2 NWSE 4T 17 NR 26W, 120 acres.
Barney never
married. He had a peg leg he made from a tree stump and was listed as having Rhumatism in the 1880
Census.
According to family legend, Uncle Barney was the moonshiner in the family.
He lived in a 2 story log house on his farm near the old homeplace by War Eagle Creek.
He built a large frame room onto the side of this house and ran a store from it. Freighting
his stock from Hindsville, AR in a buggy. The community boys hung out there, and
played cards as well as gossiped. There was a lot of music played and most of the
McLoud's were musically inclined. "Uncle Barney" played the violin.
When Uncle
Barney died, no one ever paid the store debt, and there was a whole book of
debtors.
He suffered a stroke about 1915, and lived the remaider of his life with his brother Joseph Kansas McLoud and his family. He enjoyed the family and was a favorite
to his nephews and neices.

Ruthie ran the Bill Harp store for several years after Everett passed away. She was a teacher at Clear Creek School in AR and also taught in OK from 1917-1927. She attended the Missionary Baptist Church in the Peace Valley Community.
She later married ? Bell, of OK, also married a 3rd time to Asa Rice. While in OK, she worked for the Federal Government as an Auditor. During Franklin D. Roosevet's first Admin., she was appointed postmistress for Bethany, OK.
She later ended up back in Springdale, AR where she lived in a nursing home at the time of her death. She is buried at the Clifty Cemetery.

Joseph married Clarissa Jane (Cericy) Withrow.Clarissa was born 3 Sept. 1861 at Hindsville, AR and died 28 Nov. 1893 at the age of 32, of tuberculosis. She was the d/o of Samuel and Nancy J. Withrow.
Clarissa's parents took care of the two children Ettie and Burse after she died. They lived near the spring known as Withrow Springs. 1-1/2 years later, Joseph remarried on 24 April 1895 to Winary Jane Ames. Winary was born 23 Oct. 1876 in Hindsville, MI, and died 21 June 1952. She is the d/o of Benjamin Hirman and Caroly Nancy (Davis) Ames. When they married Joseph was 37-1/2 and Winary was 18-1/2 years old. Joseph then took his children, Ettie and Burse back from Clarissa's parents.
Joseph Kansas was a Deacon at Peace Valley Missonary Baptist Church, and was a Justice of Peace for many years. He raised mules for the confederate army.

Bernice died 9 Oct. 1984. Bernice has a son Duane. William and Bernice had one daughter who died at an early age.
Burse suffered from the effects of tuberculosis from which he suffered from a child and all his life. The family attributed the cool, damp air around Withrow Springs (the site of Joseph Kansas McLoud's original homestead), as a contributing factor to the sickness of the family.
4th child of Joseph Kansas and 1st child of Winary (Ames) McLoud. He was born 14 Feb. 1896 at the McLoud Settlement. He died 20 Feb. 1976 and is buried at the McLoud Cemetery. Felix was considered a tough guy, well respected for fighting. Married Reba Leotta Purdom. Reba was born 23 Dec. 1900 in Cassville, MO, died 12 Feb. 1962 of a heart attack in bed and is buried at the McLoud Cemetery. Reba was 1/2 Indian. They raised their family at Barney's farm until the 1940's, until it burned down. Then moved to the old farm with grandma McLoud, and owned it after her death. They both died there. Three grandsons of Evert's owned this original homestead of Joseph Kansas McLoud. The house was still standing in 1993.

1st child of Felix Evert and Reba (Purdom) McLoud. He was born 24 July 1917 and died 29 Nov. 1969 in Tulsa, OK by Asphyxiation of an unvented gas stove. He is buried in the Ft. Gibson Veterans Cemetery in OK. Leonard served in WWII. He was a sgt and retired from the Airforce. He lived with his parents, farmed sometimes, made moonshine and was a drinker. He was in jail a lot and was an escape artist as the deputies couldn't keep handcuffs on him. He worked in the C.C.C. camps, building A rods from St. Paul to Huntsville, AR.
2nd child of Felix and Reba (Purdom) McLoud. He was born 26 Feb. 1920 in Huntsville, AR and died 22 April 1978 in Broken Arrow, OK where he was a mechanic and died after a car fell on him. Pete is buried at the McLoud Cemetery. He married 29 July 1939 to Ruby Bohannon. They lived on a farm north of the homeplace and called it "Groundhog Farm". They bought the old Withrow Springs schoolhouse and put it on their farm and lived in it.
Pete was in the Army and served in the Philippines during WWII. While in the Army, he took a mortar in the stomach while saving others. He survived but suffered problems, and pain the remainder of his life. He was unable to pass physicals or get good jobs because of this.
One night whil drunk with brother Leonard, they used dynamite to blow out a stump close to the house, and shattered the windows and did other damage to the house in the process. Soon after, he and Ruby divorced 23 Feb. 1947.
Ruby married Boyd Bowman, and Pete then married 6 Jan. 1947 to Ann West. Ann was born 7 april 1930. Pete and Ann had 4 children. They moved to Huntsville, AR where he worked on construction. In 1955 they moved to Broken Arrow, OK where he lost his life on the job. Ann then married on 5 Dec. 1980 to John Bishop. John was born in 1930 and he was a Welder Shop Forman.

3rd child of Felix and Reba (Purdom) McLoud. He was born 16 March 1922 at the McLoud Settlement and married 28 march 1946 in CA to Ellen Schoon. Ellen was born 20 April 1916.
When Nelson was 12 years old, he went to work for his Uncle Bob, who played violin with Gene at many dances. He was paid a dollar a day and dinner. Nelson graduated from Huntsville High, where he played football. He worked in the CCC camps and then joined the Army, which he made a career of the Air Force, receiving the 12 Battle Stars, and the Bronze Star, during WWII. During the Korean War he received another 12 Battle Star. Nelson retired in 1969 after 26 years of service and resides in Salem, Oregon.

4th child of Felix and Reba (Purdom) McLoud. He was born 18 Sept. 1924 and died 7 Aug. 1928 at the age of 4 in Fayetteville, AR Hospital. He was fatally hurt when he was ran down and trampled by a family horse, that suddenly went wild. Price was playing in the yard when the horse which was old and tame, suddenly went wild and charged. When the horse approached Price, he stomped him and kicked him in the head. The parents witness the attack from the proch but were unable to reach Price in time. Price is buried in the McLoud Cemetery, a field stone marks his grave.
5th child of Felix and Reba (Purdom) McLoud. He was born 12 Aug. 1929 at the McLoud Settlement. Carroll married 3 May 1953 at the Madison County Courthouse to Doris Jean Loretta Redford. Doris was born 5 Sept. 1933 in Dewar, OK. She is the d/o of Grover Franklin and Sylvia Lavina Jane (Capps) Redford. They lived in Tulsa, OK and then Weleetka, OK and owned a carpet and tile shop in town.

Evelina died 9 June 1986 in Arlington, TX of Lung Cancer and is buried in Ft. Gibson, OK. Hugh first met her when cutting her hair and she was so shy he had to hold her head up so she would look at him. They divorced and Eveline then married Orval Bivens and moved to Tulsa, OK and then Arlington, TX to be near her daughter. Orval was born in St. Paul, AR and is the s/o Will Bivens

He often collected art work from a young artist in lieu of payment for his services, his collection was valued at $100,000.00 when he died.

She married 5 Dec. 1918 to William Curtis Clark. Curtis was born 12 April near Clifty, AR and died 4 March 1960 in San Pedro, CA. He is buried at the Green Hills Cemetery. He is the s/o Billy and Kitty (Montgomery) Clark.
Curtis worked for Roscoe Cox. When Curtis was courting Mamie he rode a horse to do so. They were married in a buggy by Rev. McCurrey, who preached at Lower Smyma.
They moved to San Pedro CA during WWII where he worked the Harbor Patrol at Terminal Island, which was a Japanese Internment City. He had a 2nd job installing sprinkler systems. Rumor saids that Mamie's nephew says that she must of been the hardest woman in the world to live with. Curtis had to undress at the back door and go naked through the house to clean up, since Mamie didn't want the dirty clothes being worn inside the house. They lived in Habor City just befor Curtis died.

They bought the farm owned by Joe and Thursta Withrow, which is south of the War Eagle bridge at Withrow Springs, AR. They lived in the big 2 story white house until Bob's death. Evelyn sold the farm and moved to Huntsville, AR. Bob cut hair at home, he was a farmer and a musician. They held dances in their home. he loved company and the family and he had a dry sense of humor. He was comical in spite of being stern.

She raised her 2 boys and never remarried and lived there until six weeks before she died. Grace was named after 3 community midwives; Grace Marshall, Vina Smith and Elizabeth (Aunt Fanny) McLoud Dudgeon.

10th child of Thomas Cook and Sarah (Fagan) McLoud. She was born 4 April 1861 and died 29 Aug. 1945 in Huntsville, AR. Lizzie married in 1882 to James Harvey Withrow. James was born in 1857? and died 27 Aug. 1945 in Huntsville, AR.
Lizzie went blind during her last years of life.

1st child of Roxanne (McLoud) and James Withrow. He was born in May 1893 near Huntsville, AR. John died 7 Feb. 1942 while visiting in CA after a car ran him over. He farmed the Withrow farm which was homesteaded by his great great grandfather Richard Withrow. This farm is now known as the Withrow Springs State Park in AR. John inherited the farm after his fathers death. He married in 1922 to Nora O'Neil Parker. Nora was born 15 Oct. 1896. His children were born on the old home place where Grace (McLoud) Calico lived until her death.

Robert was born 12 aug. 1920.
