TIMBERLAKE, NORTH CAROLINA: Robert Arthur Mangum, 79, died July 12, 2010. He was born Januray 15, 1931 to the late Walter A. Mangum, Sr. and Parthene Castle Mangum. He retired from Nortel, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Tim West, Dean West, John West, Lisa Jackson, Vickie West Sorrell, and Kim West; 12 great-nieces and great-nephews; and 6 great-great nieces and great-great nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Ollie M. Mangum, Linda F. Mangum Jackson, Betty J. Mangum West, and Virginia H. Mangum; and two brothers, Walter A. Mangum, Jr., and Thomas O. Mangum. Interment was at Riverview United Methodist Church Cemetery in Bahama under the direction of Brooks and White Funeral Home.

She was a member of Jesus Life Worship Center. Survivors include two sons, Sherill Mash of Millers Creek, and Rev. Harold C. Mash of Statesville; four daughters, Jeral Mash Spears of Millers Creek, Evelyn Mash Wyatt of Denver, NC, Berma Mash Short of Richlands, VA, and Wilma Mash Keesee of Prince George, VA; three brothers, Ray Parsons of Bluefield, WV, and Gilbert Parsons and Ralph Parsons, both of North Tazewell, VA; two sisters, Goldie P. Christian of Lakeland, FL, and Clyde P. Lester of Jacksonville, FL; 21 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. JACKSONVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA: Charles Edward Mason, Sr., 22, died in November of 1943. He was a casualty of World War II, and served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a native of Denver, CO. He retired from the North Carolina Highway Patrol with 30 years of service, and served with the US. Army Military Police. Following retirement, he was a farmer. He was a member of Little Rock Original Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie M. Fielder of OK; a son, Patrick K. Mayo of Lucama; three sisters, Patricia M. Ross of Hillsborough, Margie M. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and attended the Assembly of God Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Arvella Willis Peele; two sons, Malcolm Peele and William Peele, Jr. (Carolyn), all of Buxton; a sister, Lila Willis (Lionel) of Chesapeake, VA; a brother, Lauris Peele of Kill Devil Hills; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, and attended the First Baptist Church of Wadesboro, where he was a Sunday School superintendent, deacon, and leader of the Royal Ambassadors. He was a leader for the church's Boy Scout troop, and was a recipient of the coveted Silver Beaver award for his contribution to Scouting. He is survived by four children, Sharon (Ronald) Helms of Polkton, Chip (Anne) Pigg of Wadesboro, Debbie (Dean) Norman of Lewisville, and John (Cynthia) Pigg of Surfside Beach, SC; two sisters, Loraine "Rene" Cranford of Wadesboro, and Mary Esta Weatherly of Columbia, SC; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a close friend, Martha Wolfe of Candler, NC. JACKSONVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA: George Nehemiah Wigfall, 85, died October 18, 2007. He was a pipefitter, and worked at Camp Lejeune for 37 years. He was a member of St. Julia A.M.E. Zion Church since 1943, where he was a former president of the Usher Board and served on the Board of Trustees. He sang with the church's Gospel Choir and Male Chorus, and was a preacher steward for over 25 years. He was a Mason for over 50 years. He is survived by four daughters, Clara Moore (Dilon) of Greensboro, Cynthia Simons of Jacksonville, Joyce Ann Bryant of Washington, DC, and Maxine Benjamin of Long Island, NY; two sons, Samuel Wigfall (Mildred) of St. Louis, MO, and Rev. George N. Wigfall, Jr. (Betty) of Jacksonville; three brothers, Amaad Wigfall of Marion, SC, and Jonathan Wigfall and Herbert Wigfall, both of Georgetown, SC; 9 grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; his cousins; his nieces and nephews, his church family; and his friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Edna McCoy Wigfall; and a daughter, Laphere Wigfall Cottman. Services were held at St. Julia A.M.E. Zion Church. Burial with Masonic rites was at Onslow Memorial Park under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
