HOWELL CEMETERY
This is a small cemetery located near the community of Hogeye, Arkansas. From Fayetteville, AR, take Highway 62 west to Prairie Grove, Arkansas. In Prairie Grove, turn south on Washington County Road 28. Then take County Road 265 south for a few miles, looking for the cemetery on your right. The cemetery is visible from the highway, but is still easy to pass by if you're not watching carefully. There is a gate reading "Howell Cemetery".
Some of these stones were quite difficult to read. There are several hand-carved stones here. Some stones have no birth or death dates. If there is a question mark instead of a name or date, it means that I had trouble reading the stone clearly. There are several Civil War veterans buried here; some of them have special metal markers by their graves. This cemetery is still in use.
An asterisk (*) denotes individuals listed in funeral home records as being in this cemetery, but whose stones I didn't personally see. It doesn't necessarily mean that the stones aren't there; it just means that I didn't see them on this particular visit.
