RUTHERFORD CEMETERY
This is a small rural cemetery. It is gated, well-kept, and still in use. To get there, go to Prairie Grove, Arkansas via Highway 62. Once you are in downtown Prairie Grove, take Washington County Road 28 south. You will pass the New Sulphur Baptist Church. Keep going well past the church. Eventually, you will turn onto County Road 261. This is a dirt road. You will be going up a slight incline. Around the crest of the hill, you will see a tiny unmarked dirt road to your right. It is quite easy to miss, and seems more of a small path than an actual road. Turn onto it. It will eventually take you to the Rutherford Cemetery, which you will see on your left. Note: there are several private driveways near this little road; don't accidentally take one of those instead. Look for a very narrow dirt road.
Some of the stones were quite difficult to read because of their age. An asterisk (*) denotes a person listed by funeral home or other records as being buried in this cemetery, but whose headstone I did not personally see. It doesn't mean that the stone is not there; it just means that I didn't see it on this particular visit.
