The Summers Baptist Cemetery is located next to the
Missionary Baptist Church of Summers, Arkansas. It is
plainly visible on Highway 62. Anyone passing through
Summers on this major highway should be able to easily see the church and the cemetery.
The town of Summers is located in Washington County,
west of Fayetteville, Arkansas. It can be found between the towns of Lincoln, Arkansas and Westville, Oklahoma on Highway 62.
This cemetery is in excellent condition. It is quite
well cared-for and is still in use. A small stone was found lying low to the ground; this
stone reads "Summers Baptist Cem. 1952". Some records simply refer to this graveyard as the "Summers Cemetery".
On a number of the stones, the maiden name of women
appeared in quotation marks. A few people have two headstones (different stones, same person). Most of the stones were legible. A few, however, were
difficult to read. One grave (Lee Collins) is off to itself in a corner, away from all the other graves.
